Can someone tell me...

if I just want to buy as a walk in from the store - in the past how many days did it take from launch day till one could just go to the store and walk up and buy one - in other words - if it sold out first day from the lineup - how long did it take to get stock back in?

It always was different from store to store, even in the same country. People think "everyone is queueing, I better join the queue", or they think "nobody is queueing, no need to come early". They think "Store X will be sold out", therefore nobody tries buying at Store X, so Store X has plenty of phones.

Stock will come in very soon, but it will sell out very soon as well. And people's willingness to wait is different, so first day you get weirdos who camp out overnight, first week you get customers willing to get up early to be first at the store, after four weeks you get the ones who absolutely hate going to a store and not getting exactly what they want. I'll only buy a phone if it's in the store in all the colours and all the sizes that are available and I can buy whatever I want and as many as I want.

What I find even more disturbing than the iDiots standing in line, is the Apple store drones applauding.

Why are they applauding? Has somebody just discovered a cure for pancreatic cancer?

No, the are applauding the sale of a disposable electronic gadget, made by child-slaves in China.

Think different!

What I find even more disturbing is Apple haters (aka:Trolls) like yourself who waste their time in an Apple fan orientated site! You must be really really upset and angry person!!

It only takes few seconds to read your previous comments to realise what exactly you here for.

AT&T store in Midtown Miami

Only like 30 people here. I preordered a 6+ 128GB last week for October 2nd delivery.
Maybe I will get lucky and I will get one today.
Only 20 minutes to go! :D

I Plan on getting one in December at which time I'll walk into a store and walk out with the one I want, waiting in line blows

woah really? Apple Stores dont even sell locked phones here. isnt that the point of paying full price??

edit: oh i see u can sign up for phone plans of providers right at the apple stores in the US. thats weird

Still waiting to hear...last year while Apple wouldn't say it, but when you bought a phone full price they'd unlock it as part of the process (and since the T-Mobile's were always full price they were unlocked even though Apple wasn't saying they were in advance...just like this year)....waiting to hear how things play out this year (I could see Apple locking the T-Mobile's to prevent people buying them to flip or ship overseas).

You lonely beacon of restraint on this day of "getting it now!". Good for you. You might even avoid any unexpected hardware issues (remember the orientation issues of the gyroscopes on the early 5s's last year?).

....The worst case will be all the people who canceled their late October / November orders with the hope of getting something today. If they're not in a huge city, they're screwed and won't see a Plus 'til Thanksgiving or later. Or they'll just bitch and moan to customer service and get their spot in line back, pushing people like me further down the line.

Reminds me of this great article from last year...such a good read with regards to the expected behavior for some of those folks feeling entitled to getting the 6+ today:

I have a 6+ 64gb space grey on pre-order from Verizon, expected ship date 10/3. Went to the Verizon store here this morning to see if I could get lucky and get one earlier, and also do a straight trade-in of my 4S and save some more money upfront. I live in smallish suburb just outside Richmond, VA. Showed up around 7:50 and was ninth in line. The guy came out and said they had NO Pluses. None. So if you don't live in a MAJOR metropolitan area, the odds of getting your hands on a Plus today from a carrier store are slim to none. I stopped by the Holyoke (MA) Mall today at 6:50. Usually an iPhone launch attracts maybe about two dozen people that early in the morning. I figured I'd have no trouble buying one. I was wrong. In the picture, the Apple Store is to the right of Kay's Jewelers, far in the distance on the left. Today is going to be huge for Apple.

Coming in late for pickup

Do you think the lines will be short if I pick up my pre-ordered phone at around 2:00pm? 6 hours should be good enough for the lines to die down, right?

I think 6 hours is enough time for Apple Stores to exhaust their stock, at which point the lines will dwindle to nothing.

I'm in Hartford and the verizon store has 6s but there is a month wait for the 6 plus. I'm glad I waited. I plaid with both phones and I am still torn.small line at the verizonwireless too.

It's also nice that the Apple Store reps are coming out with phones for people in line to see. Long line though. They pro won't have any pluses so the verizon store is the best bet for those customers

No unlocked versions yet

As long as you buy the T-Mobile version directly from Apple, it is unlocked. Inside an actual Apple Store, you can also purchase a Verizon or AT&T version "device only" and it will be unlocked.

One other thing, the line is around 75 percent Asian. I wonder if they are shipping the phones back to their countries? I understand that waiting in lines for many are for economic reasons.

So can i use this T-Mobile Unlock version with any sim card? i mean back in my country? Im little worry, im gonna be in the states until next friday and i wanna take one iphone 6 back with me. Anyone be free to answer

every year these posts come out, and every year they're complete b.s.

For many people it is a hobby. If that's what they want to do, who cares? There are a lot worse things one could be doing with their time, like belittling others on a forum because they can't understand how someone might want to live differently than them.

Most of the people in line probably make more money than you, which is why they're in line to get their 128gb space gray iphone 6+ off contract. Don't mistake free time for lack of education or ability.

Waiting in line isn't my cup of tea either, but i'm not going to belittle anyone for it. Neither should you.

boom roasted son!

Not true, I picked up mine about an hour ago from the Apple Store in Birmingham, UK. As I said before, it depends on which country you're in.

Granted. In the US Apple is not selling any unlocked yet (unless the T-Mobile is unlocked) A

Verizon may be unlocked (as the 5s was) , If you pay full price for the AT&T one it is still locked to AT&T, you just don't have to extend your contract.

What I enjoy at this site is the aggressive replies from people who worship Apple, a corporation like a cult, posting off topic nonsense in a thread that has nothing to do with the topic.
Only an attempt to show Apple in a good light in hopes to null out any true issues with Apple products.

We have confirmation that the T-Mobile units (from Apple) are unlocked (just do the initial start with your non T-Mobile SIM in it).

Rather lame Apple is not including a SIM removal tool in the box any more...the hole appears to have been increased in size so a small paperclip works fine.
