Does the new iPhone come with a sim card? Are we forced to still go to a AT&T store to activate our phones if there is no sim card included? All the unboxing videos on youtube show no sim on the phone. Can anyone shed some light on this ????

Just received mine

First impressions are a bit mixed...

Im not at all sure about the rounded glass edges - it makes the edges of any screen protector very obvious and liable to curl up over time imo.

And the back is definitely ugly with those antennas and protruding camera - not a problem in a case though.

I think i preferred the design of 4 and 5...

Return it and get an android, so sound very unappreciative

Just got back from the Apple Store.

Not buying yet, but I was able to play with both phones. The Plus fit into my pocket very comfortably, but I'm also male. The female Apple employee put the phone in her pocket, and it stuck out a solid 2".

Both phones are incredibly nice, and feel the most "expensive" of any iPhone since the original. I would be happy with either. The Plus would take an adjustment period, but I think I'd get used to it.

I'm waiting for the Apple Watch. I need confirmation that I can run using just that and have the run data sync up to the phone later, so I don't have to run with a phone strapped to my arm. If that's how it works, I'll get the Plus. Otherwise, the vanilla 6.

On a side note, it helps that my 5S absolutely screams on iOS 8. Seriously, my phone seems to be substantially faster, and I know this isn't normal based on what I've been reading here and elsewhere. IDK. It definitely "sold" me on waiting on the Apple Watch to put off upgrading my phone, though.

Edit - these phones feel much nicer in hand than the 4. The 4 is like a glass tinkertoy by comparison.

upgrading from a 16GB white 3GS to a 64GB Space Grey 6 (4.7").

Hardware
- excellent finish
- it feels really big, especially in the hand (not so much in my pocket)
- thought I had big hands but hard to reach the edges
- home button is really clicky - way more than my old 3GS. Similar to the difference in trackpad hardness when upgrading from an old Macbook Pro (classic) to a Macbook Air
- not too annoyed by the plastic seams in Space grey, the melt pretty well in the background.
- really don't like the protruding camera
- screen shows dark-ish stains near the power button. Will see if it disappears (glue...)
- wifi is fast and reliable, 4G seems strong (on Three UK)

Software will need a bit more time...

All good with the Space Grey 6 so far, I don't think I'd have liked a 6 Plus, this still requires awkward angles to access things at times (I'm only 5'7" but have pretty big hands, large golf glove, large boxing gloves etc etc) so there's no way the 5.5" would be easy to use one-handed, at least without some concern over droppage...

Spec and speed wise all seems good, screen is nice, speaker is "OK" but no match for an HTC One/M8, pretty much about what I expected really, no surprises and a reasonable bump in performance from the iPhone 5 I had previously. Not sure about battery life yet as it's a little early.

Old Apps scale a bit awkwardly and are a touch fuzzy but I'm sure that'll work itself out, had a few instant exits from apps back to home screen - even from the settings! So I'm guessing iOS 8 needs some more refinement...

Worth noting if you're buying in the UK - O2 gave me a slightly better (well, "different") deal than advertised in-store, the usual up-sell but still pretty good - iPhone 6 (64GB), £150 up front with unlimited mins and texts, 10GB of Data and 6 Months free insurance (no tie-in and covers drops and water damage), £43 per month (24 months). That's double the data and with the added insurance to what's advertised so not bad.

Geekbench looks decent:

I really love my 6 Silver.

I was so close to going for a plus as thought it would be cool to try and i use alot of screen apps but glad i didnt. Think the 4.7 is the perfect size!!

Only thing is i used to have a galaxy s3 back when it came out and keep finding myself trying to tap the back key on the bottom right haha!

original thoughts of my new iPhone was wayyyyy too big. after 5 minutes i love it already. I REALLY LOVE SWIFT KEY!

I picked up my ATT Space Gray 128GB IPhone 6 at Best Buy with they opened their doors here in Maryland at 8 am, only 4 folks in line, and plenty of stock on hand of all colors, sizes and carriers. My first impression was it is the perfect size (for me), the 6 plus blurs the line too closely between a phone and an IPad mini. I needed a phone, not a palmtop computer (IMHO). The screen is perfect, no blemishes or dead pixels as seem to have plagued previous launches, the processor is very snappy compared to my IPhone 5S (both on IOS 8), and the rounded edges are very comfortable As to the funny lines on the back, I have it in a case, so out of sight, out of mind. I am quite happy and felt the upgrade was worth it (at least to me).

Cheers!

Well said. Those thick bands make having a case a must!

I have the iPhone 6 and It feels amazing. Really like the rounded edges, I also bought the leather case.
I needed a plus for my husband also but I'm very happy it was out of stock before i had my turn because he now agrees the 6 is also the right choice for him.
I also very impressed with the quality of the screen. A big step from the iphone 5.
Having a couple of teething problems with signal (mainly cellular). I'm going to keep an eye on it, it may be with the SIM change.
Overall very very happy. :apple:

Thanks for the first impression. The rounded glass edge makes me think I may need a case, since it seems glass contact with the floor may be more likely.

Do you normally use cases? How do you like the Apple leather case? (and what color combo for phone/case did you get? :)
EDIT: I am just now going through my replies and just noticed you said you did not have a case before. Thanks for the reply! I may give it a shot. Hopefully they have a good return policy.

One thing I would like to ask is if the Apple leather case (when looking at it straight on) has any sort of lip or if its slightly raised than the phone itself, so that the glass doesn't hit the floor if it falls face down.

Thanks.

Regardless of size, one thing that blows me away is how nice of a finish the whole phone has. Truly incredible. And the curved glass edges, it makes side gestures feel so smooth and easy to do compared to the 5/5S. Really didn't expect it to feel as nice as it does in that regard.

Well...

UPS delivered my Pre-Order iPhone 6 128GB AT&T approx. 10:15 west coast. Even though they did not have to deliver early per agreement with Apple was "end of day," my local UPS honored the Next Day Service to deliver AM delivery, sweet. Plus they brought my ground packages at the same time, so I got those early.

The iPhone 6 is pretty special, though mine is restoring from backup right now of my 5S.

I have inspected my phone. Often these early phones I would receive with scratches initially. This one, knock on wood from what I can tell, looks near perfect. I have examined the screen only briefly, I didn't see anything yet (again knocking on wood for luck).

The volume buttons feel decent, though not as strong as previous phones, the silent switch is the worst, it feels rather cheap.

Overall, the design is fine. The two 4 generations and 5 generations had terrific designs, but this phone is thin, and thats great.

BIGGEST impression??? The screen!! WOW! I only have the iPhone 6, and the screen size is blowing me away. It is a dramatic improvement over the 4-inch screen of the 5S. To me, it seems like this MIGHT be the sweet spot.

Of course, I have yet to hold a Plus. So far, the screen leaves my mouth dropping open. Maybe Apple could have went with the 4.7 inch screen and held the 5.5 for next year, to make next year just as big of a jump.

I simply love the 4.7. Maybe if I'm not tempted by the Plus now, I will get the Plus next year, so it feels really new to me again.

Honestly, this phone feels so dramatically different because of the screen jump. This almost feels as new as the original iPhone.

Silver 64g 6. This phone is fabulous. I love that they went back to the rounded edges. If feels amazing. I've never used cases, but there's no way on earth I'd put a case on this baby!!

I'm just putting a sleeve in case it dropped pulling it out my pocket or something.

I was trying to upload some photos but I'm giving up. I don't know if it is iOS 8 or the upload, but it won't go for it.

Anyway, the leather case has a tiny lip and that's good. It also covers the the part of the camera that is exposed.
Whether this tiny lip is enough to cover the possibility of the screen being damaged is a different matter, I really don't know (and I won't do a drop test to find out :) )
As soon as I can I'll upload some images. I went for the 6 (64Gb) slate grey with black leather case.
My husband went for same spec in gold. I'm happy for him because is what he wanted but I personally don't like it .

Awesome, thanks for the info! I think you have me convinced. You also have the exact combo I'm looking to get. :)

I picked up my preordered AT&T iPhone 6 this morning and didn't open the box until I got home. All I had to do was turn the phone on and put in my Apple User ID and password. I highly recommend doing the set up over wifi. Another important thing with AT&T is that you will have to reset your voice mail password to get your visual voice mail again.

The iPhone 6 is definitely everything it claims to be. The only old habit I'm having trouble with is forgetting that the lock button isn't at the top right corner anymore.

Coming from a gold 5s to a 128gb silver 6+

I've been wanting a larger iPhone for a long time now and I finally have one and it doesn't disappoint.

I still don't understand the need for people to say the 6+ is too big when that's the point of it. It's not for you, which is fine. It's definitely for me and it's awesome.

I do think apple should have made a 4" 6. That way, people wouldn't have to b*&@# about them being too big.

I was one of the guys that hated the thick antenna strokes. I still don't like them but they're not as bad in person.

The screen is gorgeous. I've always thought iPhones had the best screen (color, contrast, brightness, clarity) then a lot of other phones even though they had better specs. The 6+ is the same. I find it much better than competitors whose specs are "better"

The viewing angles are unreal. It's so clear and crisp. Love everything about the screen. Its like the icons are floating.

Fingerprint sensor has seemed to improve. Works every time so far. I hardly used us on the 5s because it wasn't so accurate. Maybe my 5s was just a dud?

Camera is quick to focus. Again, one of the best cameras on a phone regardless of megapixel count. Accurate white balance, exposure and dynamic range.

The feel is also really nice. Sits nice in my hand, edges are smooth and feels like such a premium product.

Yep, pretty much in love! lol

Both of mine, 6 and 6+ came with AT&T sim cards. Straight from Apple!

For the love of God, will someone post some full-Rez photos? I've been searching for several days, no one has posted a full-res picture yet.

Two Phones One Plastic Wrap

So our phones just showed up at our house and we opened the first and I commented that I was surprised they weren't using plastic to cover the front or back anymore...fast forward 5 minutes and I open mine and it does have the plastic.

What the hell is that about?!
