Wow that's bad news I was thinking 15 million. Hopefully its due to stock being low

Yeah, that is really bad, making 6 to 10 billion USD of profit in three days, especially considering that most of buyers of Apple devices do not check the stock price.

When the iPhone 5S sells at around the same percentage of iPhone sales this year as the 5C did last year, does that mean that nobody likes the materials in the 5S?

:D

Not at all, I see what you're trying to do with the comparison of specs and stuff though. However, the 5S isn't newly designed or newly introduced which the 5C was.

Haha, yep! That sounds about right...2 million from China.

Does Apple have the infrastructure in China to sell 2 million phones in three days? I doubt it since they have so few Apple stores and I don't know if they can coordinate as well with the various carrier stores as they can in the US.

Really, this is probably just the supply of phones available to buy. How many stores in the US finished Sunday afternoon with a full supply of 6's? We know that they didn't have any 6+'s.

iPhone6 :

- Bad screen aspect ratio - should be paper A6
- Too thin → Protruding camera, rather than longer battery life and flush lens
- Ugly antenna bands
- No OIS on basic model
- Base storage should be 32GB
- No wireless charging
- No iPhone 6C with all-plastic back
- No sapphire screen

I'm loving my 6!!!!!! Hate much?

Oh, so you don't think they're counting all the orders that people are placing but haven't received yet? Or do you think people are not ordering just because of the long wait time?

They don't count pre-orders that haven't been delivered yet. They count shipments to carriers, sales to customers in their retail stores, and deliveries of online orders in the total "sales" figure.

Same here. Order online as soon as they go on sale, you get screwed and wait weeks. Just randomly walk into a store, you can grab one day one. It's total BS. No store should have any until preorders are filled.

Wow, you are cocky!

It would not be good for Apple to not have any in stores. The lines are good for business but there would not be any lines if Apple has to wait for all preorders to get them.

They will not have many in stores while online orders are waiting for weeks. They will get handfuls here and there for the people lucky enough to catch them after this initial wave of sales.

If you mean Apple employees at the stores, I was in the store on Saturday, buying an iPod Touch. The employees all seemed upbeat and smiling. The employee I worked with was almost giddy. He said it felt like Christmas to him, and that they really enjoyed this time of year.

I had walked by the store a few minutes before they opened, and there was a line formed outside. The employees were gathered in the store in a team meeting, laughing and clapping their hands. So it would seem to me that Apple has a way of keeping morale up and positive energy flowing during this push.

They incinerate one employee at the start of each workday that was the least happy yesterday. Everything is Awesome!!!

I think he meant inventory levels being low.

The people who waited in line a walked away from a brick and mortar store this weekend are also free to return their phones (I bet at least a few already have) Yes, it is not that same as cancelling an online order that has not shipped but unless you have figures that reduce the overall sales below 10 million (because X number of online sales were cancelled) then I don't see why Apple cannot say "10 million" and also call those online orders "sales"

They cannot say "10 million preorders" because this is regarding the sales over the weekend beginning September 19th, not preorders on September 12th

Phones that are sold and are then returned are sold and returned - which means they are sold. Preorders that are cancelled are never sold. That's a difference. And there isn't anything more obvious than Apple being able to say "we got 10 million preorders" if they got 10 million preorders. They just can't say "we sold 10 million phones" just because they got 10 million preorders; to say that the phones must be sold.

I ordered mine through Telus at 5am and I have to wait until Oct 6 to get it. Should have just stayed awake until 1am. Oh well.

On Saturday night I was walking here in Miami and saw people making a huge line.

I called my best friend in Venezuela, I am Venezuelan and I told him: look... this people making lines for hours to get a cellphone... they do not have nothing better to do?

In Venezuela people are making lines to buy milk and toilet paper, I understand that but I would never wait more than 15 minutes in my life to buy something, probably a movie ticket and if you go to Disney or a waterpark there is no option.

My friend told me: that is why I left the USA, even I am a citizen I came back to Venezuela where there is a sense of community and not filling up your inner void with material things.

Wow...

Still, today is Monday and people making lines for something they do not need for me is a mental problem.

I got my iPhone 5 like 6 month after, still in perfect shape. I saw the 6 and the screen is bigger and it helps a lot, but my life does not depends of it and no ones life does. Again.. pretty empty life's to make aline for a phone.

So your friend left a country where he has the freedom to do what he wants with his time (wait in line for something) to get something he wants with his hard earned money... so he can go wait in line for milk and toilet paper?

BTW, there are MANY Venezuelans doing the opposite. They are coming HERE to NOT have to wait in line to feed their family.

10 million phones aren't 6 to 10 billion USD profit. They are probably around 7 billion revenue, but not profit.

----------

10 millions is not good. I guess the number also includes channel fill. Apple stores have lots of unsold iPhone 6.

What channel fill? Are you making it up as you go?

Wasn't Steve's goal of selling the original iPhone 10 million units in an entire year? I still remember his 2007 keynote where he wanted to capture "just 1 percent of the market."

Think it was actually 1 million

I didn't know it was now unethical/immoral to buy a cellphone so you can communicate.

Yet they sold 10 million units. Hmmmm...... That must mean a lot of people don't share your opinions.

I'm not shocked at these sales numbers, it was expected. The lines in my area were much longer than they ever have been. The resellers were out in force here, hundreds of them in line at area Apple stores. Several had infants and toddlers with them, bringing blankets so they could sleep in line on the mall floor. It ain't like it used to be.

Of course they are! I'm surprised you bought one since you said they'd never make one bigger than 4". How many of each did you get?

Yep I got it totally wrong as I admitted the last time you raised that point a couple weeks ago. :D And I couldn't be happier to have got it wrong. I wasn't sure it was even possible, but Apple has raised the bar and built the world's first truly usable phablet device.

I have 1 iPhone 6 and 1 iPhone 6 Plus. And I'll be keeping both. They are incredible devices.

Saw several sports reporters already using iPhone 6 while on the sidelines this weekend. The Plus model seemed to be a fairly popular choice.
