The typical MacRumors forum poster is probably not overly concerned about image (probably slightly geeky). Apple is a company where design matters, and making the phone thinner, makes it look better and lighter. I wish everyone would stop moaning about the battery and just go and buy a nokia or something. You don't deserve to own an iPhone :p

Length is a "drawback"? Extra width is, for one-handed use. Thickness, maybe, for pocketing. But a little extra length? What usage does that affect?

Bottom bezel size affects one-handed use. I can reach my whole moto x screen with a 4.7" screen because it is shorter, less wide, smaller bezels, and is made to use without a case.

I love thin and light on my iPad Air (on which I type this post), but i'd much rather see a 4.7" iPhone with the same thickness and smaller bezels. Since touch ID is likely to be on the 6s too, I'm sorry to say that it will be a while until Apple "nails" form factor. Mark my words... Xiaomi and OnePlus will have flagship quality phones with modern designs that will make the iPhone dimensions look dated and come in at 1/3 of the price.

6 mm thick would beat the iPhone 5S by 1 mm. That's kinda cool.

1.6mm actually!! And by these measurements it would be nearly 3mms more narrow than other "Larger screened devices". Which means we can still hold it with one hand!

I haven't seen ONE single comment about the iPhone being too thick.. However I've seen tons of comments saying that the battery life suck. So Apple, doesn't that leave a hint what people really want?....

"People don't know what they want until you show them....", Anybody remember who said that ?

that's how my day usually goes. i never really have problems with my 5S battery unless i'm somewhere like a festival where it's having to try harder to get a signal.

if you want 3 days battery life get a 3210. who is away from a charger for that long lol

edit tho: phone looks ok. idk about the curved. i like the straight edges of the 4/5 :\

I can read original language and their source has proven to be reliable in the past which I can confirm by following leak by the same source posted previously.

Iphone 4 is heavy compared to 5. I don't want extra weight in larger iphone 6 so thinner body sounds good to me. 3 mm thinner then competition? Yes, I will take two!

i was kinda goofin'. If my phone was at 60% at noon..........Id $hi#! ! !

Thats when I start gettin' heavy with my phone! Need it for after work and THATS when it get s its biggest workout.

I don't think these are for the iPhone 6, I think these are for a new iPod Touch with a larger screen. It seems too thin. But hey, if it really is the new iPhone, and it is actually that thin, then damn that's going to be cool.

So the Apple logo will be a separate component like on the iPad and not like on the 5s. Will look better  And I'm pretty sure that this is what we will see in September.

Can not wait!!!!!

Don't agree. Silk screen it on, and do away with the additional part.

Just think if the 6 was released with the same thickness as the 5S, but with an extra 4 hours of battery life. The media would crucify Apple. Didn't Motorola release a smartphone with a massive battery a year ago? Did Motorola sell 100m of those over 6 months? More like 100k. I, too, would like a longer lasting battery, but the current battery-life has limitations and is a fact of life given the current tech. The vast majority of folks don't need the extra battery life. If they do, they buy a portable battery or a battery case. If battery life was such a huge issue, IPhones wouldn't sell...everyone would be buying an Android phone and toting a spare battery in their pocket. Appearance is very important. In 4 months, when customers in the carrier's stores pick up an iPhone 6 and compare it to an S5, they are not going to be thinking about whether the S5 will give them a couple extra hours of juice before it needs charged. However, they will be wowed by the thinness and weight.

People never complained it was to thick even when they used this! You get what I mean?

There was also a time when people liked electronics to be larger as it made them appear more expensive or worth the money.

Thin design eh ??

I see NO round buttons there now *nudge, nudge*

Something no one would ever believe on this forum when i kept saying "eliminate the round buttons to make it thinner" no one believed me,,,

Until now... * One one looks at Android phones anymore to tell.. *

If these are the correct measurements, then either its not an edge to edge screen, its not a 4.7 inch screen, or the sides of the phone are dramatically curved. A 4.7 inch screen at 16:9 is 104.14 mm tall and 58.42 mm wide.

Looks like bezels may be slightly wider on the iPhone 6, based on these renderings.

With a case width of 68mm, and a screen width of 58mm, that's about 5mm bezel on either side.

On the 5/5s, the screen width is 51.6mm, and device width is 58.6mm, so the bezels are 3.5mm or so wide.

Exactly, I don't get it. The top and bottom bezels of the 5/5S are approximately 16mm so if they stayed the same that would leave room for a screen 106mm tall and using your measurements above, 61mm wide.

A 5" screen is 110.7mm tall and 62.3mm wide. In order to fit this Apple only would need to reduce the top and bottom bezels my 2mm each (1mm on each top and bottom edge) and the side bezels by 0.7mm. Looking at my 5, this doesn't seem too much of a challenge considering that the overall area of the chassis is increasing significantly. It seems like having a 4.7" screen on this chassis would result in a lot more dead space on the front than the current model...

Maybe if they are using curved glass on the edges this takes up a couple of extra mm's in both dimensions...

Taller than a Nexus 5 with a smaller screen, more bezels, and thinner battery. Yay...?

Again this .... Taller ??? JC is 0.1 millimeters taller a, but smaller in every other dimensions ....
A lot of people complains for the sake of complaining ....

And we don't even know if those are the real dimensions.
But yessssss, it is "taller" than nexus 5, a whole 0.1 mm taller and it has a physical TouchId button.
What a shame , uh ?

It's all about expectation - something Apple sets at a high bar due to their reputation for quality design and high price. My wife has commented several times about how my phone is "the same size" as her 5s, despite a 4.7" screen vs. her 4".

Modern design aesthetic is moving towards small bezels. My new 55" TV takes up a similar amount of space as the 46" it replaced because the bezels are almost non-existant. Many are hoping that the rumored 12" macbook Air will be the same size as the 11" with smaller bezels.

Since the iPhone is THE flagship device for Apple, it's no surprise that this design leaves people questioning the dimensions.
