I've heard that the scanner on the note 4 is an improvement on the S5. The S5 one is definitely useable. However it often took more than one swipe to unlock my phone. Also on the S5 you could only register 3 prints (note 4?) so registering the same finger twice is a waste imo. I've used the finger print scanner on the 5S, 6 plus and iPad mini 3 and they run rings around the one on the S5. Now the one on the S5 is useable, I left it on and it didn't bother me but the iPhone one is infinitely better. Also Samsung need to give it more functions other than unlocking your phone and buying things from their App Store. I never got the PayPal thing to work, maybe it doesn't work in the UK?

Granted Apple pay doesn't work in the UK yet but being able to use it for App Store and iTunes purchases is really useful as I have a long password.
Note 4 scanner also allows you to use it to sign in to any Web accounts in addition to paypal and online app stores. Plus you can use it to activate Private Mode.

I don't have s5 but the scanner on note4 is accurate. Most of the times it gets it on the first swipe.

Cool. The scanner sounds much better on the note 4.

I have used SGS2, SGS4 and SGS5. I am now using iPhone 6+ and my wife is using iPhone 6. Here the prices are same for SG phones and iPhones. But that said, It is a month or more since I bought mine, and I am still excited about my phone. The picture quality and battery life are uncomparable to my SGS5. BUT, the price difference is huge. I suggest you take a quick holiday in the US and buy a T-mobile unlocked phone from the Apple store.

Yes, I am spending a lot of money every year. In US dollars. This year, however, local currency is devaluated, and the prices are higher than ever. The iPhone 6 is about 30-40% more expensive than the iPhone 5 was at launch (even though the prices in US dollars are kept more or less the same).

How are outdoor shoots on your 6 plus compared to your GS5?

I have the 6 plus and came from the S5. I was really happy with the outdoor shots from my S5, they were amazing. However indoor shots and low light shots were were not that great.

With my 6 plus I've mainly taken a lot of low light and indoor shots and have been really impressed with the quality of the pics. They are a lot better than what I got with my S5. I haven't gotten round to taking many outdoor pictures (probably the weather) so I haven't been able to compare yet. I really hope my 6 plus can match my S5 for outdoor shots.

I am planning to buy a new smartphone, probably as early as today. I currently have a 16 GB iPhone 5 and it is getting really slow, and battery life drains too fast. The one I intend to buy is a 64 GB iPhone 6. It has a great size and seems awesome, with the exception of battery life, which seems to be crappy.

The thing is, the iPhone 6 is insanely expensive here in Brazil. The minimum prices are as follows (these are not the prices suggested by Apple, which are even higher; these are the cheapest models I managed to find for each model):

• 16 GB iPhone 6: US$ 1100
• 64 GB iPhone 6: US$ 1250
• 128 GB iPhone 6: US$ 1400
• 16 GB iPhone 6 Plus: US$ 1250
• 64 GB iPhone 6 Plus: US$ 1400
• 128 GB iPhone 6 Plus: US$ 1700

The prices are very high because of the huge taxes charges by the government (the prices are a little lower than they used to be because the US dollar has gone up in the last few days). Anyway, the iPhone is the most expensive smartphone here. All Android phones are much less expensive.

Here is a list of the Android phones I managed to find:

• LG G3: US$ 570
• Samsung Galaxy Alpha
• Samsung Galaxy S5 (16 GB): US$ 690
• Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (32 GB): US$ 950
• Motorola Moto G: US$ 270
• Motorola Moto X: US$ 500
• Motorola Droid Turbo (64 GB) (called Moto Maxx here): US$ 770
• Sony Xperia Z3 Compact (16 GB): US$ 580
• Sony Xperia Z3 (16 GB): US$ 725

All of them, even the flagship Android phones, are much cheaper than the iPhone; and Windows phones follow the same pattern.

The thing is, I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 last year to replace my iPhone 4s (about june 2013) and I just couldn't use it. It was awkaward to hold in one hand. It was uncomfortable to use. The user interface was terrible. The software available for Android was worse and less polished than the software available for iOS. The touch screen of the S4 was not so accurate as the one in the iPhone. Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S4 provided a sub-par experience compared to the iPhone; the experience was not half as polished. So, after two weeks, I gave the S4 to my mother (I cannot take the phone back to the store like in the U.S.; here, if I take it out of the store, it's mine forever). Then, I bought an iPhone 5, which is the one I want to replace now.

Now, it's time to replace my iPhone again and I am just wondering.

I look at several smartphones in the stores, and they all look great and nice, and are much cheaper than the iPhone. And they seem to provide a much better battery life than the iPhone, which is something critical (as I must carry chargers with me all day to provide extra battery). I used the Nexus 5 of a friend for a few minutes and it felt very good and polished and all; and it was way cheaper than an iPhone (the Nexus 5 is not available for sale anymore here in Brazil).

But, at the same time, I wonder whether I will feel the same lack of polish that I felt after using the S4 for a couple of weeks back in 2013. I know the Android phones must have improved, and that Android and software available to it must have improved as well. Or that there may be smartphones more comfortable to use than the S4. An Android phone is cheaper, but if the experience is crap again, then I will end up buying another iPhone anyway.

So, what would you recommend? Has Android phones improved a lot since last year? Given my experience, should I go with the iPhone 6 or should I try another Android phone?

No it absolutely is not worth the price increase. Get a galaxy note 4, it will be just as good and half the price. The response/fluidity is just as good, don't waste your money. The iPhone is a better phone in my opinion but I would not pay twice as much for it.

Yes, an iPhone is worth the cost!

Until you can install iOS on Android hardware there is no comparison. I like my phone to work reliably and securely every day with a consistent UI. Android can't provide any of that.
Don't get opinions mixed with facts mate.

After 6months are so the the 5s note 4 will all get laggy as hell, the iPhone u can keep for years and iOS will still be flawless, and u will be able to get the latest iOS update even on a 3year old phone. with android u are stuck with the same software u purchase with the phone from day one. Also iPhone will have a better resale valve in long run. The iPhone is a better investment over all so it is worth the cost.

I checked your posts, why do Android trollers enjoy trolling so much? Wouldn't they prefer spending their time on Android forums, to learn and contribute? Answers anybody?

You think they would be doing that instead of contributeing to the Everything apple forum, never could understand the trolling here.

Lol the "premium feel" is NOT worth an extra 500-600$. That is utter crap. I own an iPhone and plan on sticking with it but there's no way in hell id pay a 500$ premium for it.

I agree with everything apart from android phones not receiving updates. They do get updated. If you buy a flagship phone you will most likely get two updates, less than on iOS and you may have to wait up to 6 months after release before you get it. So essentially the software update situation is a lot better on iOS. Everything else I agree with though.

I don't follow how only getting two updates, and six months later, and only on flagship phones is better than iOS which will get more updates as you agreed, and they will be now, not in 6 months, and they wont just be for a flagship phone, they will be for phones a few years old.

It's not. I didn't say it was. I said that the software update situation is a lot better on iOS.

Whether the iPhone is worth the price increase is purely a subjective opinion. If you like iOS and can afford or have no problem paying more, it isn't an issue. I like iOS and the support it receives in the form of regular updates and software support. I like the fact the iPhone has plenty of accessory choice and works well with my car. Is it worth the price increase? You bet it is for me.

If I couldn't afford the iPhone I would look at other options and find a happy balance. It is really that simple. :)

Same as you said nothing at all.

I use a iPhone 6 plus, note 4 and Nokia 930.

I could live with any of them had the others been so expansive. All are great phones , though not worth the amount you posted...... It's only a phone.

And I thought Europe was expansive......

The note 4 is accurate, but you must swipe In a straight line. Owning both, the iPhone one is far better, purely cause you do not need to swipe with it, and can be used at different angles.

You obviously don't know what trolling is....

Have you seen iOS 8 on the 4s?
