9to5Mac's report says those antenna breaks may be placeholders for glass cutouts (similar to current 5S) or the breaks themselves may be made out of glass. In the dummy below you can clearly see chipping in the plastic/painted lines. No way in hell that becomes the final design.

We'll it better not be, but it's just more smoke so far and no fire in sight.

Well since we have yet to see the final design everything is smoke and no fire. ;) I'm just using common sense that chipped thick white lines won't be part of the final design.

Yea I'm not a fan of the white bands so I'm glad they might not really be included.

As for curved glass I've never used it but I don't see anything wrong with flat glass. That is unless the curved glass means edge to edge screen with wrap around design, then I am all for it haha.

Curving the glass slightly on a larger screen allows for easier single handed use. The Moto X doesn't feel anywhere near as large as it is as a result of curving the glass.

When I first read the title, I thought it was suggesting that the antennas on the mockups are quick to break, as in the antenna stops working. What's funny is it didn't even phase me. This mockup junk has gone so far as to create its own ecosystem.

Common sense and apple in the same sentence lately doesn't go along that well.

If it has the same battery as the 5 prepare for it to self-destruct at 15 months.

Or at least drop from 72% to 33% charge in one minute, and then suddenly shut off without even hitting the 20% warning.

I'm at 7 months right now.

lines or no lines it's a bad looking design so let's hope it doesn't look like the mock ups

literally looks like a phone that should run android

lines didn't make it.. GOOD
curved glass flush with the round edges.. FANTASTIC

this phone is going to blow the bajebus out of everyone. can't wait. :D

<insert take my money now here>

I would say similar to the current 5s antenna sides now.. heck yea those are sexy.

Best iPhone design ever created. Hands down.

Looks great when you take it out of the box. Just beautiful. After that it's just smudge city. That and the back glass was easily broken. It would be fun for Apple to revisit this design when glass can be made extremely thin and strong, with a superior oleophobic coating.

As for this story, I don't think there is anything wrong with keeping the same general look of the 5/5S. You can only refine a black rectangle to a certain extent. When devices get this thin, you can't do much with the sides but round them or people will cut themselves. Eventually these things will be made out of that liquid metal material and have no bands at all.

I actually think something like that will probably be the iPhone 7 design: Little bit thinner, liquid metal unibody enclosure, and if I remember correctly (don't quote me on this), liquid metal can have special pigments added to it for coloring that is better than anodized aluminum which can scratch off. Beyond the iPhone 7S, I believe one of two things might happen: Hardware becomes so thin that you have an iPhone that can "unfold" into an iPad Mini, or hardware design itself becomes less of an issue altogether as things begin to shrink to the point that there isn't much left to design and our devices begin to interface more directly with our bodies, meaning that design will be primarily how the device attaches to us and in the software itself. Though that might be a bit optimistic on the timeline of iPhone 8 in 2018.

Perhaps we've seen it already..

Wasn't that for the iPhone 6C? I mean I guess at this point these could be anything but yeah. What would be neat is if Apple had a two-tone design with a band of liquid metal around the outside edge of the phone where the radio signals could pass through, and then the back was a solid piece of aluminum. Basically this drawing except where you see the line on the outer band, that's where the liquid metal would be as it curves down to the back. If they're having problems with liquid metal yields or wanting to slowly begin adopting it this could be the way to go by only using it for part of the phone.

But you remember how ugly everyone said it was before it was out? People thought it was a cheap chinese rip-off or something... "Oh, the ugly round volume buttons, Apple would NEVER do something like that"

The 4 / 4S was the worst iPhone design. Hands down.

Thick & heavy, with sharp edges that don't feel nice in your hand.

It was probably the most fragile iPhone, too, with it's exposed, easily broken glass on both sides.

Ever carried a 5.5" phone in your pocket and did anything more than walk? I'm not an inactive individual and I could not stand having a 4.7" phone in my pocket.

Ive carried an iPad mini in my pocket all through college. A bit weird when sitting, but really not really an issue with a phone because I always have that out when I sit. I feel the 5.5" wont be too intrusive. Especially if it can fit in a shirts front pocket.
