Will you be getting the new iPhone?

Probably.

Nothing about the rumoured features excites me, but I've had my 6 Plus for nearly two years and it's time for a change.

I was honestly considering a Note 7, but it means other inconveniences like moving my photos from iCloud, getting rid of my Apple Watch, putting up with crappy iCloud mail support on Android (unless that has changed since I switched from Android a couple of years back), and ditching things like Apple Pay and iMessages. It also means paying full retail for a Note 7 opposed to getting money off a new iPhone through the Renew programme.

My 128GB 6 is doing great - no issues.
I would like a 256GB 7 solely for the increase in storage, but other than that, I haven't found the 6 lacking. Some people would be on board for a better camera in the 7, but I use my DSLR for pics that matter so I don't really care about that feature upgrade. Additionally, the lack of a headphone jack is not appealing to me... having to use a dongle for several sets of very nice headphones / IEMs that I enjoy using. Not a big deal, but would rather not.

In your dreams...Apple will go AMOLED next year so why would they bump the screens this year.

Not really in my dreams, don't care either way to be honest, just pointing out those "leaked" screen panels from a couple of days ago...

From all the YouTube videos and sites that talk about the iPhone 7 that I have looked at, seems like Apple is reserving a new screen resolution (AMOLED?) for the iPhone 8 to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the iPhone.

Just out of curiosity and excuse me if there is a duplicate thread out there, Those who have the iPhone 6 or 6+ (Not the S model) Will you be getting the new iPhone this September? I purchased a 6+ back in September 2014 and i could really use an upgrade however with all the leaks and stories that are out, I'm starting to question whether if the new device will really be worth it.

I plan on upgrading through the Apple iPhone Upgrade Program, this way when the 8 comes out, If I want to upgrade my phone to the 8, I can.

Yes I'll buy it. Briefly considered the Note 7 because truly that thing is beautiful. Then I realized I would be using marshmallow lollipop or whatever Android is doing and whatever bloatware Samsung adds to their phones. iOS is what locks me in. I have iPads and a Mac and the interconnectivity is amazing. I also like and use iMovie a lot because of how stupid easy it is to edit a video. So pretty much for me apple could design a literal brick, add iOS 10 and I'd buy it. Until Android OS changes radically I'll get the iPhone.

The real challenge for me is whether or not to get the plus. If it has the increased RAM and significantly better camera? Sold.

Totally agree, nice looking phone but I refuse to buy ANYTHING from Samsung after dealing with their non-existent customer service once! Plus all the bloatware, long waits between updates and Android apps are just not as polished as Apple apps. I've spent too much on the ecosystem to change anyway, even if I wanted to, which I don't.

6 Plus owner here...

It'll depend on a few things:

1.) A10 SoC - If it's significantly faster than A9 (At least 50% faster CPU and GPU), plus 3 GB of RAM. If Apple pulls another A8 type of update, I'll have to give it a serious thought. 6 Plus wasn't the greatest performer, so don't wanna get burned again.

2.) Camera - If it's the biggest leap in quality of all iPhone cameras thus far

3.) Price - If it doesn't get more expensive

Same boat, 6 Plus owner also and will upgrade whatever and pass this down the family.

Nope, my iPhone 6 is perfectly capable and strong enough for all the next year challenges. I'll wait for iPhone 8.

What if the rumors don't pan out, will you await the iPhone 9? I'm just getting the 7 and will sell next year towards the 8 if they do indeed do an anniversary special.

Yes, I will. I'm pretty bummed that there won't be a major redesign, but luckily the iPhone 6 design has been my favorite iPhone design of all-time. Ordinarily I would wait, but:
- My phone is starting to show its age both in terms of speed and battery life (exterior is still 10/10 pristine though ;))
- 3D touch is starting to become such an integral part of the UI
- The camera will be a massive upgrade over my 6+

Also, I don't give a flying crap about no headphone jack. I have wireless headphones because it's 2016.

If next year's phone is going to be as "revolutionary" as rumored, I'll end up buying it anyway...but I don't want to be stuck with my current 6+ for another year.

its a bit silly, but i'm with sdwaltz, 6plush is getting long in the tooth and the faster processor and ram alone are worth it for me, 3d touch and anything else will just be a bonus.

Even if the rumours don't pan out, it's sure to be an even better iPhone than what comes out this year. If your 6 is still going strong, you have nothing to lose by waiting another year.

That's kind of where I am right now. I think about spending several hundred dollars at least on a new phone (maybe an iPhone 7 or maybe something else) but I can't think of a single thing it will do for me that my 6 doesn't already. Sure, it may do some things faster or better, but is that worth the $1000 or so it's going to cost me when all is said and done?

I have a 6 Plus, purchased day one. Going to wait for 2017 version (iPhone 8?). I don't really feel like the new phones offer anything I have to have. Most of what I want to happen now is on the software side.

Plus, now that I pay for my phones up front it makes me think a little harder about whether or not they're worth it.

Don't care much about rumors...but I am sure, that iPhone 8 will look different (iPhone design never disappointed me) and my usual 3 years cycle will be over.
Every iPhone deserves to be used for that long and what is most important for me, performance doesn't degrade despite all IOS updates.

Don't get me wrong, I love new design and much more excited about the 2017 iPhone, but I'll just upgrade now and sell it when the time comes. I want a faster phone with more ram, 3D touch and a better camera.

1) My wife, despite my suggestion otherwise, chose the 16 GB and desperately needs an upgrade
2) We are due for upgrades and I don't think Verizon offers a cheaper plan post-contract....so not taking the upgrade is like leaving money on the table
3) I'm already craving some of the 6s features and looking forward to the RAM bump

I'm on the fence, going to wait and see what the new iphone has in store, ready to make a change. Either going to get a 6s or the new iphone. My upgrade to the plus size this time.

Once you go Plus, that's it! Love my Plus!!

Really hoping for a space black with less obvious antenna lines. I think that dark blue render looked really nice and fingers crossed a space black would look as good.
