Earlier I planned on going with either a 6s Plus or 7 Plus. Today I picked up a 128 GB 6s Plus with case and screen protector from Swappa for $660 from a reputable seller. Looks like I'll be skipping the 7 :D

Absolutely not. I find the headphone jack removal outright offensive. There is no upside to removing it other than a cash grab to control headphone sales. I'll keep my 6 for a while but I'll likely end up with a Galaxy Note. Unless next year's phone is miraculous (instead of playing catch up with stuff like OLED and waterproofing that other companies have had for years) I'm done with iPhones.

I'm actually very curious to see if there is a substantial sales bump in the 6s because of the headphone jack removal and possibility of a lower price. I feel like I've seen lots of people waiting for this

I think the removal of the headphone jack could be a good thing for audio quality in the long run. Take the Audeze SINE headphones for example, they offer a lightning cipher cable which has an integrated DAC/AMP in it. Other audio companies will follow suit and include their own either within the cable or headphones themselves and this will only be a good thing for audio quality. Yes, it will be a shock to the market, but people will get over it and slowly change their headphones... In the meantime it's dongle time!

I will be going from a 6 to a 7+. I want 3D Touch and the better camera along with a larger screen. The S model just didn't give enough for me to upgrade but the 7 does. I'll go on AT&T's 12 month upgrade plan again. Paid the 6 off pretty fast and the S didn't give enough for me to take up payments again.

I'm upgrading too but going from 6+ to a 4.7 7 :). What color you getting ?

Just out of curiosity and excuse me if there is a duplicate thread out there, Those who have the iPhone 6 or 6+ (Not the S model) Will you be getting the new iPhone this September? I purchased a 6+ back in September 2014 and i could really use an upgrade however with all the leaks and stories that are out, I'm starting to question whether if the new device will really be worth it.

My iPhone 6 still works great and 3D touch and other minor changes are simply not enough to justify upgrading. I will wait for the next model. Replacing a phone every year or two is no more reasonable than buying a new laptop or desktop every year or two. That is even more true when Apple rolls out significant designs and features at a snail's pace.
I am more of a need to replace my 6 year old iMac but Apple isn't exactly setting the world on fire with enhanced features in a pretty stale lineup of iMac and MacBook Pros. (Hoping the new, long awaited MBP's are truly a step forward.)

For a phone, I'm just looking for a reliable device for messaging, calls, navigation and checking the Internet. If the 6 hardware is incapable of that already, Apple has some real issues with their software quality.

No judgement of on enthusiasts who want frequent upgrades and the latest features, that's cool. but to make biennial upgrades mandatory for a decent baseline experience, well I just don't agree with that.

But all evidence suggests that the "7" is a further refinement of the 6 series.
You got a good point there... Hurmmnn, still for me, I'll wait for 7S before upgrading my 6S Plus (such an amazing piece of gadget).

Only one thing that I don't like about 6S Plus, it is quite heavy. Other than that, totally rocks!

I go for for that too but rather see the new color as deep black.
I hope they also produce Black Panther Edition for 7S. I really wish they do. It would be a blast.

But the "7s" (or whatever the 2017 phone ends up being called) will likely be the new design if this year isn't. If Apple is indeed moving to a 3 year cycle, this sort or messes up your s-model routine.

No... I don't feel I need a new phone... It basically lacks of a killer feature that makes me feel I need a new one

I love my iPhone 6+ and it was great when I first got it new 2 years ago. I came from an iPhone 5s, and going to the bigger screen was like night and day. It felt like a real "upgrade" if you know what I mean.

When the iPhone 6s/6s+ came out last year, I was tempted to upgrade, but I chose not to, because I didn't feel that there were enough improvements over my 6+ to warrant the cost.

I've been following iPhone 7/7+ news for months now, and I am having the same urges to upgrade again, but the other half of me isn't impressed with the so called "improvements" that have been talked about so far. My iPhone 6+ is certainly fast enough for what I do (photos, web browsing, email, social media, text messaging, voice calls, very light gaming).

I am tempted to skip this model and wait another year for the 2018 iPhone model (whatever they decide to call it). I just feel like the iPhone 7/7+ may not feel like a real upgrade. Time will tell though, as we all have to wait for the actual announcement to find out all the official features of the device.

Long story short, I'm still on the fence whether to upgrade or not from my 6+

If you're a 6+ owner, I'm half amazed that you would endure another year of using that phone...the 1gb RAM was almost criminal.

/ shrug/

I am amazed at people stating that 1GB is not enough. if you are a power user, like gaming, then it makes sense. but if you use a phone as a mobile device (not pc), then 1GB is more than enough.

remember there are millions of millions of iphone out there that has 1GB (iphone 6, 5, 3, 3G). I have 6+ and I can use it for a few more years without any problem. Sure it is not smooth butter like 6s+ but it is far from "endure" like you said.

The benefits of extra RAM aren't only felt on high end games. App and Safari tab reloading is a complete non issue now, unlike with iPhone 6 (Plus).

PS

6 (Plus) doesn't have 1 GB of free RAM. It maybe has 200-300 MB of free RAM to work with after the OS is loaded, so the 6S has as much as 5x more free RAM.

Well, this is a forum for enthusiasts, so you're going to find more than your fair share of people who push the limits of their phone. I'm not one of those people though. I've never had any issues with 1GB of RAM. If I hadn't wanted a larger display, I would probably still be using a 5s. I passed it on to a family member so I still get to play around with it sometimes, and I find that it still performs well.

I have a launch day 6. Although it's actually turned out to be my favorite phone to date (even though the 5/5S was probably my favorite design) and the screen is great and the battery is still great, I'm planning on going to the SE, despite the less saturated screen. It isn't even so much the size, since I like my 6 (though the SE size is nicer in my hand/pocket and it always had a nice substantial feel to it), but rather that I am just tired of the design, want to upgrade, but can't see myself using the same design for what will end up being like 4 years total.

I want the SE, mainly because I just want a tangible change, which the 7 isn't going to give me over the 6 - it'll just feel like more of the same but with more money going out of my pocket. And the SE is cheap enough that I wouldn't feel terrible buying the 2017 iPhone if it's so amazeballs like all the rumors are making it sound. By then there might be an awesome new 4" model too, so who knows.

I just need a change, and paying for the phone out of pocket now with no contract, the price of a 7 (x2 for my wife as well) just seems like there is no value there.

I used more than a few chrome tabs, 5 or 7 tabs. I did not even noticed the reload/refresh issue until someone here mentioned it. like i said, 1GB of RAM does not affect my experience to a noticeable level. and I don't use my phone like my PC (with 16GB RAM) which can have 10-30 tabs at one time.

using 10 to 20 tabs on iphone small screen to me is "unbearable" regardless of how much RAM the phone has.
