I have a 6+ and plan on upgrading again. Not sure if I'm going to go with the smaller verizon this time.

Every year on release day and pass my current 6+ 128 down to my daughter as usual. Although this year I believe I'm going to try my first silver or gold model.

I have a question, I'm sure someone can answer I've just never done it and it was brought up today in a meeting I had. Does Apple allow you to purchase an unlocked device at the same time of preorders of those on contract? Meaning if say they announce preorders start midnight on sept 11th, could I jump on there and order an unlock? Not sure you can predict the future, I just wonder if that's happened in the past? I'm pretty sure the answer is no, your forced to wait a month or two before ordering an unlocked device. Thx

Yes. Although, last year, unlocked iPhones were not available until about 5:30 am ET.

Unlocked iPhones are the T-Mobile iPhone, which can be used with any GSM carrier. They start at $649 for 16GB.

A lot of ppl will upgrade since there's all these NEXT and JUMP plans. I don't see why you wouldn't if you're in one.

Yes: I will upgrade my 6 Plus to its next version.

Why? Because the 6 Plus I bought myself and our office finally backed down from cheap Samsung Galaxy versions to iPhone.

So: in September or whenever they are available I will get my new 64 GB 6 Plus successor and sell my 6 Plus for a still reasonable amount of money that goes straight back into my own pocket.

Downside: then I will be stuck with a 6 S Plus (or however they will call it) for the next three years...

It was a different feeling to vote no, I've bought each and every new iPhone since the original.

My iPhone 6 Plus is doing ok, there's nothing Apple is likely to include in the new model that would give me a reason to get one.

There's plenty of things that would get me to buy a new model. Yet Apple has no interest in features that matter to me and many of my associates, so I'll let other people fund the iPhone 6S / 7 or whatever Apple calls it.

Yup. I'm on a Verizon More Everything plan with the fam so this year I'm gonna hop on Edge for my 6s Plus. I usually just give my old phone to another member on my plan who doesn't mind being one phone behind and it works out great. Love being on the bleeding edge of tech. :D

Same issue with me. Need more storage and was short sighted getting the 16GB.
I hear you I have always had a 16GB iPhone but since I joined AT&T's Next program last year I'm upgrading every year now and getting 64 GB. 16GB'S is a joke when you have kids and plan to do anything with your phone lol

I'm skipping this update. My understanding is that IOS 9 should make my 6 plus perform much better--the way it should have in the first place. So I'll take that performance improvement and feel like I have a new phone. I'm really annoyed with IOS 8 performance and I don't feel like I need an upgrade.

Your 6 plus would've performed like it should've if Apple had given it 2GB of RAM. The performace of your 6 plus is the reason the 6s and 6s plus are getting extra RAM.

In certain instances I agree, but I'm a very light user. So if I'm messaging I only have messages opened and yet when I type in landscape mode I'll experience freezing and need to put it into portrait mode and vice versa. I really don't think that's related to RAM so much as a crappy IOS release.

We'll find out next month for sure if your 6 plus turns into a "new" phone or not thanks to iOS 9. I just have this feeling that your 6 plus is in the same boat as my iPad Air, RAM starved and iOS 9 won't provide a meaningful fix for that. Maybe I'm wrong.

I'll be switching carriers from Verizon to AT&T and getting on the AT&T Next program, I'll be going from an iPhone 6 to the larger screened version of the 6S (maybe 6S Plus?). This way I can get the new iPhone every year right after it comes out :)

Verizon iPhones are also unlocked.

The only issue with that is now with a new Verizon installment plan (formly know as Verizon edge) you have to pay the full amount remaining of the device in a 24 month installment plan, so if you wants upgrade next year you have to pay off half your device. Granted you can turn around and sell the phone to help fund the cost but I rather go with turning in my old phone and just upgrading every September which is what I plan to do with AT&T Next

Well I'm an iPhone 5c user currently with an upgrade due in November.. So if I can go to a 6 then that will be a hefty upgrade in itself. It just depends how much more this years variants will be in comparison wether I can justify it with two children lol

Either way it's gonna be a massive upgrade in performance and screen real estate! I'm getting excited! I usually start researching my upgrade 6 months prior to upgrade but held off this time.

Yes, but only bc I'm using my wife's upgrade to get more storage. Can't handle 16 GB anymore. Also, she'll get my 6, which will be a big upgrade for her from a 4(S).

Same for me. I'll get the 6S or 6S+ so my wife will have my iPhone 6 and her 5S will be available for her mother and so on. Everyone in my family will be upgrading the phone and of course I'll be the one with the latest and greatest model :)

One of those things is software, the other..sure. But that's not really a big deal either. If the quad-core rumors are true, and they stay on the same path they've been on with increasing CPU and GPU performance, it will be an absolute monster. Add an AMOLED force-touch display, a vastly improved camera, and yes, the big improvements that are coming in iOS 9...should be an awesome phone. Also, more RAM, which is badly needed. That's a huge difference.

Some people doubt that we'll get an AMOLED Force-Touch display because it would be too much of an upgrade for a 's' model. Then again, the only two force-touch displays that currently exist, Apple Watch and ZTE Axon Mini, are both AMOLED. We'll see next month.

I'm upgrading for two reasons first, For the extra ram the iPhone 6 + is in need of more ram. I never had these performance problems with the 5s.
Secondly, me and my husband underestimated how many people were going to be waiting in line at launch day. (NYC) there were people there a week before launch day so by the time we actually got in the store there was only 16gb iPhone 6 and 6pluses. Since we had no other option we went for it. I can no longer deal with the lack of memory. My hubby and I will be more prepared this year.

Well, yeah. I'm using my upgrade and another fam members so I can do this every year then just swap the SIMs when it comes in. Works out great for the both of us.
