iPhone 6 Plus Display Judged 'Best Smartphone LCD Ever Tested', iPhone 6 Also Solid

Didn't want the bring the house down in a Apple forum.

LED uses less power to display images with a white background. Luminescence degradation occurs after 6000+ hours.

OLED consumes more to achieve the same thing. In addition OLED experiences degradation in certain colours particularly blue after 1000+ hours.

Sorry to bring your house down.

so "The Best" actually means 2nd best.
Did Apple's PR department write this article?

Technically it's correct because the Galaxy Note 4 doesn't use the LCD. I used to be critical of AMOLED but Samsung came a long way to improve and it's finally reaching its potential. Ironically enough, there are now a fair amount of users who are weary of AMOLED despite its improvements because of some burn in problems in the past.

However for Apple they'll be stuck with LCDs for a while on the iPhones because of the supply issue. They are already having troubles making enough iPhone 6 Plus due to the shortage in LCD display production. AMOLED is far more constrained in its supply.

iOS 8 glitch found

I just got back from the Genius Bar at the Apple store in New York City. It seems I found a glitch in iOS 8 . The do not disturb feature for Messages does not work. It's a new feature and I tested it on my phone and the Apple rep also tested it on his phone and it just does not work. if you selected ON incoming notifications still come through.

Can anyone else verify this?

Thoroughly enjoying my 6 Plus so far. But a few apps just look over sized because of the scaling (a few are acting a little odd too) but obviously this will change when developers push their updates out.

True. But even some apps that were not explicitly updated for the 6 Plus look great. For example editing videos with iMovie is absolutely golden on the 6 Plus thanks to the larger preview area.

And I have to agree with the review: The 6 Plus screen is absolutely gorgeous. And I don't care if it's best or second best or third best. That doesn't make it look any better or worse to me. Only thing that bothers me is that it makes my iPad 3 look somewhat outdated now. ;)

The screen is indeed beautiful on my iPhone 6 (not plus). However, when comparing it to my wife's Note 2, the colors are far more muted. I know the AMOLED display overcooks some colors, but it actually looked more lifelike.

Could never bring myself to use Android again, though.

They over boost the colors on the Note to make them pop, but it doesn't look natural and can cause photos taken to look off under certain lighting condition when viewed on other devices.

Its more likely that the UI lag is because its an initial release of a new OS and not that the 6+ is underpowered. I am sure a weaker chip powers more pixels on the iPad 3/4 and Air just fine

True. And I for one have not noticed any lag on my 6 Plus whatsoever, and I am usually very sensitive to lag e.g. when scrolling through documents or web sites. Would probably be a prime reason for sending the phone back.

Also, I have been playing Asphalt 8 for hours. Wouldn't work all that well if the A8 were underpowered. :D

Funny to see the Apple fanboys changing their speech from "anything above Retina resolution is completely worthless, you can't tell the difference!" to "OMG, the iPhone 6+ resolution is SOOOO great!!!111!!"

...um, I thought everyone here was am "Apple-Fanboy" why else would you come here, create a profile then bother to comment on a new apple product?????

The best part about the screens is how thin the touch sensor and cover glass is. It feels as though the screen is popping right out of the phone; not constrained in a box.

I love it I love it I love it! :apple:

What a misleading thread title lmfao iphones biggest competitor uses amoled screens not LCDs and the gs5 and note 4 screens are better then the LCDs in the new iphones.

Talk about twisting and stretching the true but the truth hurts.

Samsung's have the best screens period!

Well... resolution is actually pretty great and it has nothing to do with pixel count (which is some sort "size" of the screen).

326ppi and 401ppi are AMAZING resolutions and you won't tell the difference between both (human eye can't handle above 300ppi).

1334x750 and 1920x1080 are not so great pixel counts (compared to other devices), but on phones that's actually waaay more than enough.

Wot?
Resolution has nothing to do with pixel count?
Seriously you people are getting blinded by the marketing.

Funny to see the Apple fanboys changing their speech from "anything above Retina resolution is completely worthless, you can't tell the difference!" to "OMG, the iPhone 6+ resolution is SOOOO great!!!111!!"

Funny how you still don't get it. You really think is the resolution that is making these screens brilliant?? Oh man, will people ever learn?

Btw, the displays on these phones beat the crap out of other phones with almost double PPI.

WTF?

Do you people even read or do research before posting?

I swear, members here just see something saying "Apple products = good" and they automatically start bashing Android users.

Instead, TAKE TIME TO RESEARCH this websites information and the conclusion might surprise you.

Here is, taken directly from their website, their conculsions of all Smartphones on the market:

"...the Galaxy S5 is the Best performing Smartphone display that we have ever tested."

Not the iPhone 6 or 6+, or any other Apple product. Instead, a Samsung product.

Sheesh. Good lord.

...um, I thought everyone here was am "Apple-Fanboy" why else would you come here, create a profile then bother to comment on a new apple product?????

God no. There is a world of difference between an Apple fan, (which I am), and an Apple FanBoy, (which I most certainly am not).
