iPhone 6 Plus Display Judged 'Best Smartphone LCD Ever Tested', iPhone 6 Also Solid

Ohhhh 1920 * 1080 = 2073000... So, yes, 2K pixel squared.

your definition of lines of resolution is flawed. nobody is going by the measurement you're stating. except for you.

that being said, higher resolution doesn't necessarily mean its better. you can have a high resolution display but if the brightness is bad, unnatural colors, with bad uniformity its not worth it.

It seems this review fails to state how many sub-pixels the 6 plus have per inch. While they do this for the Note 4, which is pentile.

Can someone confirm that the 6 Plus' display isn't pentile?

...um, I thought everyone here was am "Apple-Fanboy" why else would you come here, create a profile then bother to comment on a new apple product?????

Well, there has been a theory that a significant number of the forum members is being paid by Samsung. While I usually don't subscribe to the idea that someone who does not share my opinion must have been paid by someone, it is known that Samsung has done this before, and you do have to wonder why someone spends his time on an Apple forum, writing 260 posts of which about 255 are complaining about how terrible Apple and Apple products are (including BS like the idea that Steve Jobs died due to his disappointment about the iPhone 4S). Yes, not everything Apple does is perfect, and criticism is often very justified, but spending three years actively contributing to a forum for a company that one hates? Weird.

Ok, please to oblige. You are totally crazy. The new sizes are amazing.

Yes... I agree they are amazing. My point is I hope they aren't abandoning the smaller one because it is optimal for one hand use. They themselves have spent years saying the same thing so I'm really not sure why they are going back on that now. I dont have a problem with them offering bigger phones I just hope they realize that not everyone wants them.

I keep telling myself that my 5S will do me until at least the 6S or maybe even the 7, but the more I read about it the more Im oogling a 6+ :(

This is a good demonstration of how Apple does so well with their demographic. They speak to their technological lack of knowledge.

PenTile isn't a "thing" as much as it's a trademark owned and used exclusively by Samsung on the Amoled and Plasma displays.

It is however a representative name for a pixel matrix. Of which, many forms are used.

Samsung would love it if Apple was using their technology without agreement. :D:D:D

You can't be serious. You honestly think Samsung is paying people to post on this forum? As if this community is somehow influentially significant enough to make even the slightest difference in real world sales??? I mean, really, come on.

Besides, wouldn't it be much more likely, Apple is paying people to post here and influence other members of this forum towards the positive in discussions of all Apple products?

Remember, Apple is a business, just like Samsung. They have one goal and one goal only... MAKE MONEY.

Neither company gives one flip about you personally, only your wallet.

True. But even some apps that were not explicitly updated for the 6 Plus look great. For example editing videos with iMovie is absolutely golden on the 6 Plus thanks to the larger preview area.

And I have to agree with the review: The 6 Plus screen is absolutely gorgeous. And I don't care if it's best or second best or third best. That doesn't make it look any better or worse to me. Only thing that bothers me is that it makes my iPad 3 look somewhat outdated now. ;)

Although I have an iPad Air, something about the iPad does feel very stale now. Can't quite put my finger on it.

What's this supposed to imply? I mean, come on... There are people who don't know technology on both sides of the aisle, it's hardly Apple's ~demographic~. The idea that Android users are more 'aware' is a myth.

Samsung only has themselves to blame for people worrying about that - they paid people to post fake reviews criticizing HTC, so of course people are going to wonder if they'd do the same but targeting Apple.

They must get paid well lol

Wiki says different. Try again or change it. Sure that won't stand though...

Yes, sounds crazy, I know. But Samsung has done it before.

You mean Apple would go on a forum that attracts people who are fans of their products to get people on that forum think positively about their products? Sounds like a waste of money to me. ;)
Neither company gives one flip about you personally, only your wallet.
Never claimed anything else. :D But what is your explanation for why someone spends a significant amount of his time on a forum dedicated to products he hates by a company he hates?

There's a lot of stuff I don't like. Yet I would never consider joining a forum dedicated to any of that stuff just to express my dislike for it. But perhaps it's just a kind of hobby I don't get. ;)

It implys quite simply, Apple's PR structure requires their consumers remain in a state of selective intelligence. If they were to become too aware and fully understand the technology, the terminology or applications within, facts would be demanded and positive spin would become much more unlikely.

This is not to suggest there aren't incredibly well versed Apple fans, and incredibly ignorant Android fans.

As for Samsung, hah... if you don't believe the internet is full of paid reviews for every brand/product on the market, with or without real user experiences, facts, etc. then I have a bridge to sell you. ;)

Its an analogy about the obsession about resolution... So, its entirely ON TOPIC, considering people think phones should be 600 PPI just in case eagles need to see them, no matter how long the battery lasts, the frame rate, durability, the color accuracy or how dim the screen looks. None of those are important, just like magapixel for cameras is more important than color accuracy, low light performance, white balance, time to focus, shot to shot speed....

In monitor screens, you pay A LOT more for a screen that's more accurate.

Gotcha... it was a play on words. You see, the OP talked about male anatomy, and then said, "point and shoot," and I was making a play on those words in a rhetorical fashion.

iPhone 6+ is a tablet. iPhone 6 is a phone.

6 Plus isn't a tablet. Service providers, Apple, and the fact it makes and receives phone calls identically to the 6 pretty much dictate you're wrong. It's also a little larger than a 6 but significantly smaller than an iPad (mini or full size) so pretty much everything circumstantial as well as outright proof is working against your theory here.

The way you need to handle it with two hands, in not so discrete manner, and for certain occasions, 6+ is a tablet. I also use iPad for playing games, watching videos and reading iBooks (all these activities that you can do when you are having a leisure time) and yes, even making phone calls from my iPad on FaceTime. Nice big screen, battery last for a long time and I need a bag to carry it outside of the house. 6+ sounds to me exactly like a tablet.

Still not the best screen overall. At least now we have a 3rd party reference for who has the best display. It's these guys jobs to test out what is the best screen out there. Honestly they should just say that OLED screens are the best and the Galaxy Note 4 has the best screen.

OLED screens are great if you like blown out cartoon colors and don't need to use the phone outside

I agree it's very unlikely we have paid shills in this forum and I believe they are doing it because they care so much about Apple one way or another.

However one could easily argue Samsung is much more likely than Apple to pay people to post here for one very simple reason. They have done something similar before and got caught: Samsung fined $340,000 for faking online comments.

I was in an ATT store on launch day. They had one 6 and one 6+ on display. The 6+ was plugged in, but was getting no charge so it wasn't usable. Seriously, that kind of crap would never happen at Apple. But Best Buy, carrier stores...always. On launch day no less! So, I still haven't used the 6+. It is still way too big for me though. I love the screen size, but the top bezel makes the phone feel like a yardstick.

You understood what I was getting at, and isn't that all that matters?

Played around on 6 and 6 plus on the weekend and to me they 6 screen looked better, more sharp for some reason. The plus was a bit brighter.

To me it was noticeable for some reason.

I purchased both. Preferred the display on the 6. Better whites and colors to my eyes. Also I couldn't see pixels on either and they both look fantastic.

Thanks to Samsung we now have the best Snartphone on the market. I'm Just thinking out loud. What will Samsung next bashing advert will be. They havevt got the S-Pen. iPhone 6 plus damm sexy.

If we're assessing these as media consumption displays OLED clearly wins from black levels alone. I'd never recommend someone buy an LCD TV over a good PDP (or OLED in the future). Well, except in one case: the screen needs to be highly readable in extremely high ambient lighting conditions.

For me the smartphone is something I use to read documents that won't work on an e-ink display (in addition to normal things like web browsing and email obviously). I do this outside quite a lot of the time and where I live that means in direct sunlight, even in the winter. So in my usage case the LCD panel is supperior (550 cd/m2 is barely bright enough for this usage; 350 isn't going to cut it, or even 440 in a black/white inversion mode).

My point is that I'm not sure it's possible to declare a clear winner between top quality LCD and OLED panels right now unless you define the usage case. Of course my usage is probably an outlier since it generally always is.

I could not see my Galaxy S4 screen AT ALL in direct sunlight.

That's also been my experience with OLED displays so far unfortunately.
