I see that this is turning back into a discussion about bending, with similar back-and-forth to that other 3000+ post thread. But more on point, it'll be interesting to see what Apple says about iPhone 6/6 Plus sales during their earnings call in under three weeks.

Personally, I haven't made up my mind which one to get, if any. I was pretty sure it would be the 6 until I held a 6 Plus for the first time. I was surprised that it didn't feel as large as I thought it would, and it fit into my shirt pocket side-to-side, though it certainly stuck out at the top. I think that the thinness contributes to its feeling less bulky than it otherwise would.

I think the optical image stabilisation is one of the sales driving factors, along with the fact that it can be used as a tablet.
From a travelling persepective and map usage, the iPad Mini is perhaps a little too big to carry in ones pockets (cargo pants sized pockets). The iP6+ is, I guess, the perfect size?

The question is, will Apple see a drop in iPad Mini sales and a continuing increase in iP6+ sales. Will iPad sales overall continue to slip?
Knowing that some people actually use their iPad's camera to record videos you have to wonder if these people will switch to iP6+? Or if the iPad Air 2 has OIS then maybe they will stick with iPads and upgrade to the 2?

If the iPad Air 2 doesnt come with 2GB of RAM, will this be another factor in peoples decision on whether to upgrade or to forget iPad altogether and go with iP6+?

I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Would be nice if Apple could tell us when iPad event is going to be.

4.5" is a perfect size. not tot big and not too small. 5.5" is a brick. even 4.5 is a it hard to navigate one handed and i have bigger than average hands.

There's got to be some philosophical way of explaining why customers blindly follow the "bigger is better" mentality. I'd bet even if the iPhone 6+ had a crazy 8 inch screen that sales would yield the same results because the 4.7 inch screen is automatically "inferior."

I've had the original iPhone, a 3GS, a 4, and a 5 prior to (and my wife had the 3G). At least for me there are multiple reasons why I picked up a 6+ the other day.

1. I have large hands and can use it one handed w/out much trouble (is taking a little getting used to. The iPhone 5 and previous versions used to cramp up my thumbs when used for awhile b/c my hands are so long.

2. I do not use an iPad. My wife and kids love them but I never have. I use my iPhone or go sit at my 27" iMac. The larger screen allows me to stay out of my office more as I can use the iPhone a bit more now.

3. I studied photography in college. When my kids were born I gave up my film equipment. I used a D40 for a few years but it's no longer with us so I've mainly been using an iPhone since the iPhone 4 came out as I don't like carrying a P&S around (which my wife does in her purse). The camera on this thing is phenomenal for a P&S type system. I have a friend who is a professional photographer overseas and he either buys or is given new smartphones when they come out to review (outside of his normal shooting schedules with his real equipment) and he loves the 6+. It's not a replacement for a dedicated DSLR but it's a great P&S phone camera. This had me excited as maybe it will spark my hobby that I used to love before I had kids (no time after) and I'll start taking more pics....which might lead to me picking up another DSLR again someday.

I agree that there are probably plenty of people who just think bigger is better and get the 6+. But not everyone who goes for the 6+ is in that boat and blindly following.

This.
It says the 6 Plus accounts for 60% of new iPhone shipments and NOT that 60% of all customers are buying the 6 Plus.

While true, if the Plusses are shipped but not purchased, then it shouldn't be so damn hard for Apple to get one to AT&T for me. :(

lot of complainers in here that are stuck in the past. technology will evolve you need to learn how to adapt and not linger in the past. in 20 years will you all still be complaining about it was sooooo good in 2010? I'm happy for apple actually growing up a little.

No.

If I looked through the forum I'll bet I could find over 1000 Trapezoid.

What does it matter anyway? Does everything have to be taken so literally. Anyone who has been on these forums long enough know how 3.5" was the perfect size for a screen and how many people would laugh at or refuse to hold a "tablet" up to their ears (you can find plenty google images of things like that) mocking larger screens. Then when Apple switched to 4" - that was the "perfect" size. Don't dare go bigger Apple! So now we have 4.7 and 5.5 - and because it's Apple and because it's iOS - it's a gorgeous phone.

Are the same people who mocked the larger screens the ones now embracing them. Maybe - because times DO change. But even if they aren't - I believe you, I and others are commenting on the overall "sentiment" not on an individual.

Agreed, BUT, simply making things bigger is not the evolution of technology (if that's what you are getting at here). The iPad mini launched a new market for the iPad, and seems to be more popular than the air... yet it's smaller. Go figure! It's fashion and fads more than evolution of tech. Remembers 10-15 years ago when the trend was for every smaller phones, some of the most expensive being absolutely tiny! Personally, I find the iPhone 5/5s the perfect size and whilst I will likely upgrade to the 6, of the many friends I know owning them, I still find them just a touch large for my liking. The 6 plus is certainly way to big for comfortable phone use for a MAJORITY of people. The fad will pass. Then again, if I want a tablet/phablet I have an iPad. My phone is primarily for 4 things these days - phone calls, texts, taking pics, facebook.

i can see why the mini did better. I've had full size iPads. I've had every iPhone besides the first. The mini is a more comfortable iPad. basically feels the same as the full size but its more manageable and still a big screen. the plus gets a bigger screen so id imagine people seem to like manageable devices over too large(like the air). The plus is very manageable and thats coming from all iPhones the last 6 years. it just adds more to phone imo. Theres a middle point where things seem to be going. If they do come out with a larger iPad i don't think it will sell as well as the mini still. The plus is still pocketable I'm surprised i thought it wouldn't fit most my pants but i have no issues. Larger screens will be more common in the next 5 years. While devices get smaller bezels and they slim them down even more. Cant really see where else phones will evolve to but wearables as companion devices.

Finally! You will be quoted for generations as a flip flopper now lol

That's fine. I didn't think I'd like a giant phone. I got one with the intent of trying it out for a month so I could experience it, then I'll give it to my elderly father. The big screen will be good for him. So far I'm really enjoying it. I'll probably order one with a larger storage capacity for myself if third party devs start making apps optimized for the Plus. Some apps just look silly blown up on a big screen.

I want ALL those that said the 5.5" iPhone isn't happening to come in here and eat some crow!!

Sigh. Get over it.

It's a different era. Times change. Back when Steve was talking about the perfect size phone, people actually used a phone for making phone calls. I bet that most people who buy the 6+ will rarely, if ever, make actual voice phone calls. It's more an internet communication device.

I bought the regular 6. It feels too big for me. I wish Apple released 3 different sizes, a 4", a 4.7" and a 5.5". I would pick the 4". I can't use my phone one-handed anymore, something that I really liked. I now must use the 2nd hand occasionally, which is really annoying. Like when I'm walking my dog, holding the leash in one hand, reading email in the other, it's hard to move back, because that's in the upper left corner.

I use my phone to get 'quick information' at a glance. I'm not on it all the time. When I'm doing something real, I'm sitting next to a real computer. It's just my workflow which isn't being taken into account anymore.

Steve was right back in 2007, but use-cases change, and in 2014, it's different. I bet in 2021, it will be different as well. Can't people change their minds over time?

I had a 6+, then a 6, then stuck with the 6+.

I highly highly doubt the 60% figure - As far as I can tell the 6 has sold way more (anecdotal evidence etc etc), but I'm also absolutely certain that apple did underestimate sales - the UK reservation system shows how fast they're selling through the stock.

It's a big phone, but a superb phone and if it fits in your pocket or bag, its difficult to fault.

The stat I'd like to see is what percentage of 6+ owners once insisted that 3.5" is the perfect size/sweet spot when Android started releasing bigger phones.

The iPhone 6plus has a better screen, better battery life and slightly better camera. The only con is the size. Once you use it for a while then you can easily get used to it. Not surprised by these numbers. For each is own at the end. But people always wants the best. And on paper the plus is a better phone.

You do know you can go back by swiping from the left edge of the screen, right? I do it all the time on my 5s and it's way easier than reaching for the upper left corner.

This baffles me. While I love the screen size, there is just too much bezel. If it were the size of the LG G3, it would have been a no-brainer.

Changing your mind is not allowed. All apple users should have the same opinion!

I think half of the Plus sales have been to all the bloggers, website owners and journalists wanting to do their own "exclusive" bendgate features. I do wonder where half the article writers are actually managing to get their Plusses from.

Samsung :D:D:D
