I have no interest in the 6+ myself... Looks way too big (reviews talking about it being a 2 handed device to use, etc.) for my purposes.
I think a lot of people will be extremely surprised when they realize that the iPhone 6 is also a two-handed device.

I have a fairly big hand, and I could not reach the top of a 4.7 inch screen with my thumb. That was one of my main justifications for getting the 6 Plus. The iPhone 6 is already too big for one-handed use, so I can just as well go "all in".

This is a serious problem because none of the people waiting in line to get their phones tomorrow will already have phones and they will be unable to communicate with the outside world.

What I do want is a 128GB model though, so I can put my whole music collection on it and retire my iPod classic as my in-car music player.

I didn't pre-order initially, because I figured I might just wait for the initial frenzy to die down first. I have a 5s 16GB gold right now which is a perfectly good phone.

But it does look like I could make it to my local Apple store tomorrow morning around 9-9:30AM or so and wait in a line, if necessary, for a little while, if it would let me grab a 128GB iPhone 6.

Not even too picky about the color (imagine space gray will sell out first), because once a case is on it, the color really makes little difference.

Given this - would people say it's worth giving it a shot, or is it going to be pretty hopeless?

Hopeless if you cannot get there until 9 AM.

I'm sure the 128 GB regular iPhone 6 will be one of the easiest to get. Plenty of iPhone 6 supply, and I doubt the 128 GB option will be very popular.

agreed I have been using the Galaxy S3 for the last 2 years, I have medium to large hands and while I can akwardly reach every area on the screen with one hand its feels like the phone can slip out of your hands reaching for some areas, and IMO a $1000 phone should be held with 2 hands its easy for you to be bumped into and there she goes

Damn, Apple. I bet they were SHOCKED that tons of people wanted the 5.5". I'm sure it took them by surprised, as did the gold 5S last year.

Probably like one of each, can't really spare them can they? :D

Nah, but they always have displays.

Hopefully they'll have a display at our local VZW. Apple Store is 45 minutes away, and there's no parking anywhere near it (its not in a mall), and I have no desire to go fight my way there anytime soon.

I was right.
Apple knew during the keynote that there would be virtually no 6+ phones available on launch day.

Wut? Then what is on the way to my hometown right now, according to the tracking information? A rubber dummy of an iPhone 6 Plus accompanied by a note saying "Sorry, please give us a couple of weeks."

I pre-ordered without problems, and when I checked the Apple store an hour later, I still could have pre-ordered a 6 Plus (other than the 64GB models) for launch day. So the words "virtually no 6+ phones available on launch day" have no connection to reality.

Yeah, I'm debating if I should do that. What I'd like to do is use it for a bit, and if I decide I'd prefer the 6 then sell my 6+, but I wonder how much value I'd lose by opening the box...

I can't see you losing too much as long as you sell it fast, when something has a 3-4 week wait the value obviously drops the less time the buyer has to wait they will pay less markup

Verizon 16gb 6+

This was expected for carrier stores. Called verizon wireless couple days ago to cancel space gray 16gb 6+. Rep pulled up their online pre-orders and corresponding delivery schedule. 6+ 16gb space gray was never available for deliver by 9/19 for Verizon. Any order placed between 3:00am-6:00am EST were 10/14 delivery dates.

Should've just ordered the 64gb... delivery date was 9/19 :(

You seem to think that the demand for the 6 Plus is huge. You should read the reviews... practically every reviewer gave the 6 Plus a lower rating than the 6. Not because it is slower, has a worse display, a sucky camera, a terrible battery, etc. No. On the contrary. The only reason was: "It's too big." That was enough to rate the faster phone with the better display, camera and battery half a star lower. And a LOT of people think like that.

For the record, I preordered a 6 Plus myself. But I am quite sure I belong to the minority.

Same, ordered a 6+ model myself. I've held a Note 3 and was highly considering buying the Note 4 if Apple didn't release a 5"+ phone this year.
I don't see not liking it in my future. I bring my iPad rMini many places since I do not like using my iP5 all the time. This will give me the ability to leave the rMini at home now and be happy with the screen size on my phone for out and about stuff. I got my kids soccer game on Saturday I am looking forward to recording with it.

The best part is there were more rumors on the 6 vs the PLUS. People getting upset and becoming shocked is honestly surprising. If they keep up with this website like me, as most of us know we only got a few articles on the 5.5 inch iphone. More rumors were pointing towards the 6 being unveiled this past keynote. The majority of talk wasn't based on the bigger iphone. Quite frankly it was a shock to me that they announced both this month.

I am in the minority too than, I would rather enjoy the benefits of the larger, better display, better battery and better camera vs how I will find room in my pocket for the extra 0.8 inches
