I feel a bit sick, have been pushed from about 110th to 150th in line from a scalper selling seats, he's now giving his gang gift cards to his clan to buy as many pluses they can (trying for two myself). This has been a disappointing 14 hours in line, never again. Shame on apple for not writing a number on your hand or giving a card out prior to them closing at 9pm last night, disgusting.

agreed they should give a number sequience

A 16GB Plus sold for $297 profit (calculated it myself) a few minutes ago. Prices will go up starting tomorrow.

I'm not sure where you guys are looking, but every 128gb (the one I want) plus is over 1200.00USD

They're the most valuable company in the world with over $100B in cash. They're onto the, what .. 8th or 9th generation iPhone now, and yet they STILL haven't figured out how to meet launch demand??

Well, then, how would you do it? I guess you would force Foxconn to build twice as many factories and to hire hundreds of thousands of workers and to force the suppliers and their suppliers to do just the same. And when the demand relaxes, tear down the factories again, fire all those people and once again ask the suppliers and their suppliers to do the same.

Yes. That'll certainly work.

This forum reminds me of a football match. Lots of people sitting in the audience who know much better what the coach or the team should be doing despite not having any football talent whatsoever themselves.

It was a Plus 16GB Silver Verizon model which sold for $1201. Which is basically $297 profit after fees (not including shipping and taxes on original purchase though).

Math:

140,000 x 32 (18 days in September + 14 days August days of production week 32) = 4,480,000 iPhone 6 Plus produced

4,480,000 x 0.06 (15 countries) = 268,800 iPhones per country/carrier

268,000 x .36 (64% for total preorder, can't sell and charge a card for something you don't have, that's fraud) = 96,480 iPhones not preordered

96,480 / 420 apple stores = 229 iPhones for inventory

I low ball the apple store numbers by 10+, carriers by ~2x since I only counted one carrier per release country

I feel like a broken record saying this every year, but Apple gets exactly 0 sympathies from me.

They're the most valuable company in the world with over $100B in cash. They're onto the, what .. 8th or 9th generation iPhone now, and yet they STILL haven't figured out how to meet launch demand??

We don't even have China in the first wave this year.. I'm surprised at Apple's incompetence sometimes, especially with Tim's supply chain background :(

This feeding frenzy is free publicity and hype. If everyone quietly and contently got their iPhone 6, there won't be as much buzz. People caught in the feeding frenzy may buy stuff that they may otherwise pause to think about. Its marketing...

This is the biggest launch, yet.

It also seems like it's going to be the biggest return of devices, as well. Many seem to have ordered both with the plan to return the other regardless. Will be interesting to see the spin put on this.

As to android no having near this hype. I agree. Then again with so many manufacturers and releases, there simply isn't the pent up demand for a phone as there is with the two year cycle of apple.

I dunno.. with that $100B in cash they've got lying around, you'd think there'd be SOMETHING they could do. Me thinks they're only making "just enough" for launch to beat last years record, while still bottlenecking the demand. Otherwise why don't they start earlier if it's a genuine manufacturing issue, or employ more manufacturers. They've been at this game long enough..

So let me get this straight, first you tout the amount of cash reserves Apple has on hand, along with commenting how they're the #1 valued company in the world, and you then proceed to call them incompetent?

You're making a lot of assumptions about the entire process along with Apple's methods. When was the design actually finalized? What was the first day they were able to start production? Over the production life of each model, how many sales are being lost by not being able to meet demand on day 1?

Yea whatever happened to 1080p after the keynote? Did he get tarred and feathered and told to get out of the forum by sundown? lol

:) There's been so many threads that I just assumed I missed him somewhere along the line.

Clearly, this is all in good fun... ;)

Not if you were eligible for a full upgrade. That's a lot larger profit....but thank you for clarifying.

I didn't figure the upgrade in because if you wanted to get another phone you would have to pay full price at that point.

However if you didn't want a new phone right away and could wait 2 years, then yes, you're right. :)

The most ironic thing about 1080p (the user who kept saying that) is that the Plus turned out to be 1080p. Makes me want to believe the whole thing was an inside job.

Exactly! I posted that the day the announcement was made but since the forums were crushed I am sure it got lost in the mix. It still makes me laugh, actually... :D

I shoulda bought a surplus 6+ when I had the chance to flip it next week. Would have been a sweet ROI. Ah well, I will be happy with my own, my precious... :D

They really could get down producing the iPhones for 2 months then release them instead of announcing/shipping them so soon.

Really? You would do that? You would announce the phone on Sep 9 and start selling it two months later, while Samsung releases the Note 4 and sells it right under your nose? Wow, you'd be leading a really successful company!

And what is the advantage for the customer if Apple waits for two months? Apple chose not to wait, so I will be getting a 6 Plus tomorrow. If Apple had followed your suggestion, I would get a 6 Plus in two months. Now please explain how that would have been an advantage for me. Or for anyone for that matter.

Really, what is the disadvantage of selling the phones nearly immediately after the announcement? There is none whatsoever, except that some people are now jealous. Hey Apple, you reading this? There's people here who think you should be catering more to jealous people! :p

I kinda had a choice between getting a new phone or iPad mini this year. I had to hand down my iPad mini to my daughter (instead of giving her a phone) so she could text my wife and I from school. I had thought about replacing the iPad with an iPhone 6+, but I am now glad I decided to get a new iPad mini instead. Now I just need to wait another month for the new iPads, and then will get the iPhone 6S+ next year.

On another note, will we be able to go in to an apple store tomorrow just to check out the new phones?

I did, reported to security twice, first when I quizzed one of the guys and he said he paid $50 for the spot and pointed out who sold it to him (which resulted in security almost getting into a punch up, the guy denying he told me that and then repeatedly called me a liar). Secondly when another 5 turned up looking fairly homeless and stood in front of me, reported to security, they kicked the main guy out, had no security footage of money being exchanged and allowed everyone to stay in the line who had bought seats.

Now, an hour before launch the scalper us back giving his cronies preloaded gift cards and instructions on what to buy.

Security don't even care..

Sounds like it is time to fight.
