More to the point, how will a fictional phone benefit anyone?

What you want? everybody should start putting their receipts on here, with pictures of thumbs up and videos showing every little detail?

Stop being ridicolous and making claims of him faking? Do you honestly think people just come here to write a long stories to piss you guys off and troll!? People do this because they care, care about their hard earned money first of all, and expect the best!

You hardcore apple fanboys will look very ridicolous when this goes mainstream and blows up. Being ignorant about something potentially very serious is not the most intelligent thing to do ;)

I'm hoping Apple will at least comment on the issue, if the stories are true then I believe they need to solve the problem with a recall; I can't see a case being the solution to what is a huge design flaw.

I've decided that I'll switch back to a 5S and cancel my contract if it's shrugged off. I love Apple and their products, they've usually done well to solve issues in the past so I hope they won't disappoint us now.

Exactly !!!

I'd like to see some data about if its more likely to bend in your pocket with the screen facing in (against your leg) or facing out. Every report shown looks like the screen was facing out and the pants bent the back of the phone over their leg. If the screen is facing your leg, I'd wager it would be less likely to bend in over the screen. Bonus, the screen would be more protected from cracking in your pocket if its against your leg.

It has nothing to do with fanboism or the like - it has everything to do with the integrity of people and the lies they spew on the internet to make apple look bad. The i6+ is the best device bar none; some people cannot grasp that reality. So they simply make up stories or try to intentionally break the device so it looks like a bad design defect.

This will never blow up into anything substantial because everyone who is anyone knows how great apple products are. If you get a bad one, return it and get yourself a perfect one. I've had nothing but great phones purchased from apple throughout the years and i've seen it all; each year comes a bunch of people making up stuff to ridicule and slander apple.

antenna gate was simply user errors - don't death grip your phone. This "bend gate' stupidity is just that, people who can't understand how to carry their device around.

I'm pretty sure if you put the same amount of pressure as you see in some of the bend test videos on any other smartphone, it would just snap in two. I'm not going to try this out (on any phone) myself, but it's very hard to believe it only happens to metal while plastic is perfectly fine. Perhaps plastic is more malleable/able to return to original shape?

Check this then

mine was bent with the screen facing my leg

Actually none of that matters. Due to the weak point being at the volume buttons. Since there is less metal there.

I was mocking you idiots two years ago during the iPhone 5 Bend-Gate. Yeah, I really lived to regret that one.

The bigger the device, the greater the risk. As such, it wasn't a problem "up to this point" due to the smaller size of previous phones. The Galaxy Note 3 has had bending issues if you Google it.

I tried to google it, couldn't find anything. Do you have any link at all to support your claim?

I don't trust human application of force. To scientifically do this "bend test", a machine must be used to exert the force. That way we can be sure the same amount of force is applied in each case.

its actually pretty apparent he applied greater force to the Note 3 than the 6 plus. The 6 plus gave away pretty easily.

And btw, stating you "don't trust human application of force" on something pretty straightforward as how the plus bends, its a little desperate.

The amount of stupidity and ignorance is really of the scale in your post!

I would like to see Tim Cook telling publicly that you should not put your iphone 6(+) in your pocket!

Why don't you apple fanboys suggest that we don't use our iPhones, lets just buy it and then put it in a case behind bulletproof glass, so that this precious device will not get used

Guys, I'm out of here, if you guys wanna keep living in a bubble, go ahead...

No. It's just basic physics and scientific method. It's not always just force too but also how you apply it. I mean why do you (and also I) trust drop tests? The ones I've seen are very controlled. They use a platform to keep the phone relatively level before dropping to ensure the phone lands in a specific way. Or use some kind of tube or tunnel apparatus to ensure it falls straight down. And a bunch of other methods in order to control as much of the variation as possible. Also in videos demonstrating the tensile strengths of Gorilla Glass and sapphire crystal, they use a machine to drop balls on it or apply force until it breaks. These machines also measure how much force is applied at the moment it detects breakage. Otherwise, why not just do those videos with a pair of human hands. Why bother using a machine (which most likely isn't a cheap piece of equipment)?

I'm not saying the guy cheated in these videos. I'm saying how about we make sure the data is precise and accurate before jumping to conclusions. Mostly just precise.

Silicone Case

Does my 6+ seem normal? 5s on the left, 6+ on the right. the 2nd image is the 6+ rotated. Its always been in front loose pockets but where I think any pressure might occur is when removing the phone form the Apple Silicone case. Its a tight fit.

Case?

Will a good quality case offer to improve 'survival rate' though, ie the Apple leather vs silicone cases?

Like the 6? I saw no evidence of that. Only that some bent as well. Someone would have to test it. We did see a 6+ bend with moderate force and a Note 3 not bend with a lot of force.

You've seen some 5 and some 6 bend. What exactly is the difference that has you thinking the 6 is a much bigger issue?

----------

Wasn't there a huge thread almost exactly like this one 2 years ago about the iPhone 5?

Yes.

Do you people really think you can put these in your pants pocket and not bend
it? C'mon a little common sense, Please!

I'm sure Apple will get the blame and be asked to replace it......amazing.....*face palm*

So what your saying is, the product is not only 2 years behind in functionality, but because of its poor build quality, you can't leave it in your pocket?

That's not a great endorsement for Apple now, is it?

Hey hey hey, everybody cool down and take a breath. We're all friends here. It's obvious to me that Uri Geller is behind BEND GATE...
