Yeah everyone's complaining bout non-issues like antennagate (iPhone4) and scuffgate (iPhone5). I don't think the One (M8) is junk. Its build quality is awesome, almost on par with the iPhone6.

The M8 has plenty of threads about being bent as well. It just doesn't get the attention Apple products always seem to.

its actually pretty apparent he applied greater force to the Note 3 than the 6 plus. The 6 plus gave away pretty easily.

And btw, stating you "don't trust human application of force" on something pretty straightforward as how the plus bends, its a little desperate.

It's the difference between Plastic and metal. Pretty clear. If you buy a plastic phone, it will be able to rebound from a bend. Metal does not have the same properties.

I have the HTC One (M7) and just tried bending it. Couldn't make it budge. I've also done plenty of drop test on it, screen-side and back-side. I've also dropped it onto concrete by accident. No cracked screen. No cracked case. I have a few dents in the metal body, but that's to be expected.

Seriously, if you want to compare build quality between ALL smart phones, then NOTHING beats the HTC One (M7 & M8). I guarantee if you ask someone to drop their iPhone 6 at the same height as I would drop my HTC One - from the SAME HEIGHT, no one would want to drop their iPhone.

Never owned one, but admittedly it does appear sturdier. Either way, looks like any metal phone, if bent, will not return to it's normal shape like a plastic phone will.

No way Sherlock!!

metals have a yield strength and an ultimate strength. past their yield strength the material goes from elastically deformed to plastically deformed i.e past the point where the shape returns to its original state.

Plastic is a moldable material...

Yeah, thanks for explaining so nicely exactly what I just said. I was intentionally stating the obvious for everyone here that seems to be ignoring it. I don't get how people expect to sit on a metal phone and not expect it to eventually give...and not return to it's original shape.

Why is no one mentioning the possibility this could also be an issue with the 6? The video didn't even suggest it. Just made it sound like it was a 6+ problem. The 6 is a big phone of the same thickness and material. Has anyone tested it? Considering switching from 6 to 6+. Would be somewhat interested to know if the 6 seems more durable. Also because I need to decide on AppleCare+ in the next 56 days or so.

Actually, I came to this thread from a blog post confirming just that: http://www.geek.com/apple/iphone-6s-are-being-bent-in-peoples-pockets-including-mine-1605177/

The bending in his phone is not as pronounced as the 6 Plus but it definitely wobbles on the table. He has previous pictures of it being normal, given his earlier post when he just received the phone. The only thing he did was drive with it in his pants apparently. Now I'm getting nervous about getting rid of my 5s.

Should a phone bend when carried in your pocket? No.

Can large, thin aluminium phones bend when carried in your pocket? Yes.

Must you change your phone carrying habits just because your large, thin aluminium phone might bend? No.

Should you accept the fact that a large, thin aluminium phone and your phone carrying habits might not be compatible and could result in the phone bending? Yes.

You're welcome.

Apple can't fix idiots. Take the phone out of your pocket when you sit or bend over Geesh! I do, and always have no matter what phone I've had since 96. This is not new news, it's common sense, unreal.

And I've always kept my phone in my pocket while sitting and bending since '96 with no issues. Until now. Looks like I'll have to sacrifice my phone carrying habits for owing my iPhone 6 plus.

It's a phablest people, not meant for your pockets. If you wanted a pocketable phone, you should have bought the 6.

I would like to give you an award for the stupidest comment on Macrumors today. Have a waffle. #

That laptop is soooo 1993.

Kidding. Sorry to hear about your phone being bend. Heck, you're probably hell-bent to have Apple replace it, and rightfully so.

So what are your plans? I was thinking about upgrading from my 4..

The new camera on the 6 and 6 plus seem fantastic but this bending "feature" might prevent me from buying a new iPhone. :(

I didn't want to go through all the pages, but i was wondering how these bent phones are put into pant pockets? I for one put my phone upside down into my left pants pocket. Since the weakest point seems to be at the volume button area does anyone know if it may or may not make a difference how its put in?

Bent

Hi iBoost621

I work for BBC news

Could you contact me via Twitter to discuss whether we can speak to you and use your pictures

thanks

@leokelion

Android junk is android junk. My i6+ doesn't bend like the OP all this nonsense is just FUD; each new release year for apple is the same; a bunch of people whining and complaining about non-issues and trying to drive up some hate.

Stop the FUD, enjoy your device or return it and buy an android doo-doo device. No one cares because apple products are superior and the only reason this has become a topic to discuss is because many of you fake the issue when there is non to begin with.

Move on and move past the hate

You should try not to take this as a direct insult to you or your product / choice and just open up to the idea it may be a little more sensitive to pressure.

And from the sounds of it you adore Apple so will have no issues treating it with delicate hands.

I love Apple and have the iPhone 6 but i wasn't blind to the iPhone 4 antenna gate issue or the iPhone 5 scuff issue (which they kinda fixed by changing colour from black to grey so it less noticeable.

I think what iPhone 6 owners would like to know (including me) is this...

If for some reason it bends in our pockets are we entitled to a free repair due to a weakness in the design (design flaw).

I think we will know more on this potential weakness over time so we will see.

I was told by a lot of fan boys that the 5.5" would not fit into pants pockets and that's why the phone will never exist.

You may as well not text on it either, because it's too big for that too.

Fan boys know better than anybody because they had to be the first to own one.

Seriously though..... That's some serious bend! I'd freak!

They do fit into the pants pockets and I'm wearing slim jeans by J Brand. But after reading these reports I now tend to walk with a bit of a limp just in case

im curious, how did it bend that way? did you put it on your pocket sideways? how big are your jeans?

doesn't make sense to have that kind of bend on a large device, unless you are wearing a 50inch tight jeans that can fit an iphone6+ horizontally.

guys... is no one curious about the spot where it bends?

i mean.. if this happend in that guys pocket while he is walking, sitting,... doesnt it should bend the long way in the shape of the thigh? how should it bend this way even in a tight jeans? its almost impossible.

the bending on the photos seems like he was sitting down while the phone was looking out of his pocket.

you guys know what i mean? no one thought about that?

maybe some guys really want to start a sh**storm to get fame.

I've been very very careful with my 6+ since friday. I've just noticed since yesterday a slight bend in the phone below the volume control.

I've been using a GEL case- but wearing loose cargo pants when in my pocket- on my dash when driving and on my desk when at work. So very very little placement in my pockets and its still bending...

I will get a hard case now and use that for a few weeks- if it still bending then will get it exchanged OR refund (which I dont want to do cuz the phone is awesome).

:(
