Problem solved: eligible to upgrade my 2 lines (mine and my wife) with ATT. Thus, I will order 1 iPhone 6+ and 1 iPhone 6 and will decide which one I want. Wife could not care less to upgrade her iPhone 5 so I can return the one I don't like and order her the one she likes later when it is available in stores. :D

6+ will require 2 handed use for a lot of people. If your cool using 2 hands then its a great phone.

It might be a matter of the reviewer just needing time to get used to bigger phones.

If you had told me two years ago I would be using a 5.0" phone, I'd say your crazy. But I jumped from iPhone to a (now considered) 4.7" mid-sized Nexus 4, and now a Nexus 5. I think its fine now because I have had time to adjust and get used to the larger phone size. Who is to say that is not the case here?

Although seeing your name on here, it makes sense that you would just automatically assume the worst in this case.

I am going to preorder so I really have no idea how either phone feels, but I am worried that carrying around the iPhone 6 Plus will be like trying to put my iPad mini in my pocket when I go out. Am I right?
Compared to OnePlus One or LG G3 which both have 5.5 inch screens, I believe iPhone 6+ is a tad too tall. So yes, I admit it could be big for many isers. BUT in no way is it like carrying a freakin' iPad mini! Check out the Galaxy Note 3 in the store and see if you can handle it. That's the closest comparison to one right now.

I believe it is too big........for me

The fact is many people, millions in fact, buy phablets. Depending on the body structure of an individual phablets look ideally suited or plain ridiculous....there is no in-between.

Depending on what an individual needs a device to do phablets are a God sent or are unnecessary.

To me the real joke is that in a few short years we have gone from "No way that is too big, that's a refrigerator." To describe some Nokia and Sony Ericsson phones in the 2005-2008 period to now how big can we go.

At some point the trend is going to move downwards again and I believe more manufacturers will be taking this kind of dual kind of approach.

The Galaxy S5 should have a similarly speced device which is smaller. No the S5 mini does not count since it is not similarly speced.

I personally think the sweet spot for a phone is around the size of the Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100.

Based on this seemingly never-ending trend of huge phones it seems I may have to buy another 5s just to have sitting down to replace the one I am using now when it eventually starts to give issues.

I'm preordering the 6+. It's basically the same size as the LG G3 and that phone fits comfortably in my hand. Not really feeling the 4.7 model tho.

I love the idea of going to a store and trying out the handsets. But they are always on those retractable tethers, which doesn't exactly make it easy to slip it in your pocket. I understand that is the point. But before I buy a 5.5 or larger phone, I need to know:

1. What it is like to hold it and navigate the screen.

2. What it feels like to slip it in and out of my front or back pocket.

iPhone 6 Plus too big?

Complete bull.

God I hate the verge

Such apple suckups...

(this coming from a Macbook Air and iPhone 5s owner)

Obviously.

I'm content with the 4.7" model except for the screen quality. How much of a visual difference is there between 326 and ~400 ppi?

I've seen a couple of hands-on videos and they all say the same thing; that you won't be able to tell the difference between the 6 Plus and 6 (4.7) in regards to this. It is visible only when compared to the 5S and previous iPhone models.

6 plus is the same exact size as my Chase checkbook as someone on another thread mentioned. I used the paper cutout to be sure and placed it on the checkbook, same exact size. I'm think I'm gonna go for it. I will take it back if I end up hating it.

I actually think the smaller iPhone 6 is also a bit too big carrying a 4.7 inch screen. Look at the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact. Nearly the same screen size but much shorter. Or checkout dimensions for the Huawei Ascend P6, Nexus 4, Moto X, and so forth. All with 4.7 inch screens but they all feel more compact. The Sony Xperia ZL had a 5 inch screen but was even shorter than the Moto G! Apple is still in love with too much bezel. And they added just a 1136x640 resolution to add insult while the HTC One M7 of last year had a 1080p screen with a 4.7 inch screen. M7 has some excuses for those bezels and height because of the BoomSound.

At least the lesser res on the iP6 might still keep the battery consumption down. But I expect the 6+ to still beat out the smaller brother anyway being 2900+ mAh is 38% larger than 1800+ mAh. What is sad is we will get stuck with these same dimensions again for another TWO years while companies like LG or Sharp can probably fit a 6.1 inch screen with an iPhone 6+ footprint.

You watch the women will see the famous hollywood starlets/ singers porting these big 5.5 iPhones around so even if they don't like them they will buy them because they want to look cool like the stars.

Apple probably pays famous people to use their phones so people will want them.

Are guys line this too?

you def have a great point and we can't predict the future, based on what i know, i'm thinking it's better for me to go for 6+

what apple cares about is profit margins and iPhones generate the highest (this is fact, we know from samsung lawsuit) so it is in apple's best interest to keep making the iPhone better so it is very possible that iPads as we know them today, could be "morphed" into iPhones.....perhaps the biggest money maker for apple will be the the day that iPhone + iPad fully unite as one, this is pretty much what i think is starting to happening now, i think apple will see what the response is, almost like testing the waters to see how we the consumers react - based on crunching a bunch of numbers, they will pretty much have a good idea of how far they can push the iPhone in terms of size and then work on the optimal size + all other specs for a iPhone/iPad combo...or they may realize that a smaller, thinner iPhone is better.......i think by next launch in 2015, we will know.....

also, with the new Apple Pay system, once it takes off, Apple will have a whole new stream of revenue, a LARGE stream of moola, if all works out AAPL will have some happy investors.....

I did the same thing. I'm sure Apple ran that test too. Who knows, maybe they sized it based on the size of a checkbook. Easy to hold in one hand, and will fit in pants pockets.

I'm pretty much set on a 6+ if it wasn't for the trail/fell running that it do. Not quite sure where to put it. I'm afraid it will look ridiculous in an armband ;)

i agree, think it is way to go without a doubt, now which color to pick? i like them all, could really care less! i liked the silicone covers on the apple store too!

I'm sure the 6 will outsell the 6 Plus. I remember last year when they came out with the gold color. Sounded like everyone wanted that color, but in the end Space Grey sold the most, followed by silver. There may be an initial rush to buy the Plus, but the 6 will probably by far sell the most. Just like with Samsung. Sure the Note sells a lot, but the GS4 vastly outsells the Note.

you could just run in place with 3D glasses on, as if you were running up mountains all in front of your apple TV, not leaving you home, bluetooth will pick up your iWatch band for now, what ever happened to the actual TV made by apple coming out? :)

If, the iPhone 6+ cut out is correct, it's actually not big at all... I think it's a bit small with my hands.

Here's me holding the cutout and my current iPhone 5 w/ case

OIS is really only useful for longer zoom ranges, not the wide angle on the iPhone. It might improve clarity a little in somewhat dark environments, but in actual low light, camera shake isn't the issue with the iPhone.... Noise is. And that requires more than OIS. ie, larger sensor.

OIS lets you dial back on the sensitivity gain, thus reducing noise.

I put my 4s on the measured diagonal 4.7 paper it was not big enough for me to get all excited about. The 5.5 paper cutout was significant. I've waited 2 years for a big iPhone so I'm excited about the 5.5.

The 4.7 may not "be big enough to get excited about", but the 5.5 is big enough to make you pissed off every time you want to carry it, put it in your pocket, place it somewhere accessible in the car, use it with one hand, make an actual phone call and hold it to your ear....etc.
