I am really struggling with this decision .. I was dead set on getting the 6+ but now it is settling in on just how big it is. I really like the idea of the bigger screen because I am always on my phone .. browsing the web etc. And I have an iPad air which i use to stream shows on my commute every day since i have unlimited data.

I've built a 6 plus out of Lego, tomorrow I'm going to see how I get on with it in my pocket.

If anyone wants to do the same you need a double layer of lego plates 10 studs wide and 20 studs long. This makes up a lump of plastic which is very slightly bigger than the 6 plus dimensions.

Printed out the template. The 5.5 is fantastic. My fingers can reach the middle of the screen when I hold it in one hand, but the double tap touch id feature will bring everything down, so I'm not concerned.

Turning it to landscape and holding it with both hands to watch a video...wheeeew!

I think I'm in love.

I decided on the 5.5 after a bunch of deliberation. To be honest, I would have preferred a 5" or 5.2".....my main concern was one handed operation but I listen to so much music (and constantly change songs) that my phone is never in my pocket when I walk. I drive into work so that's not a concern. Ultimately though, I would love to have that much screen real estate outside of the home (at home I use my iPad Air and have no desire or plans to change that...it's still and likely always will be my absolute favorite device). The big thing with the iPhone 6+ for me is the increased resolution and the battery life...both are big draws for me.

I also messed with the Note 3 for a while today and, while it is big, it's not a freaking tablet and I was able to do everything as I normally do.

I printed out the template. Wow, the 6 plus is BIG. Started to wonder if it was too big for me.

So, tonight I went to Best Buy and played with some phones. The one I liked most was the Galaxy Note 3 which is quite large. Loved that big screen, and it didn't feel unwieldy. So, it's definately a 6 plus for me.

I guess people are printing out the tables because nobody wants to be mistaken for a Samsung lover at the store??

Hint: its not the same experience if you're not looking at the vibrancy of the screen.

I currently use my 5 when I run and there is no way I can do that with the 6+. I'm also a diehard Otterbox user and that adds some height and depth to the device too. Ugh. I hate to wait, though maybe that is the best option.

Yeah but it also has a higher res display, better camera, and significantly better battery life...

The battery life is going to be key for me. I was certain the 4.7" model would be right for me, but after seeing the video and the specs I'm leaning toward the 6+ and it's 5.5" screen. The landscape email feature is nice too.

You're supposed to buy the Apple Watch for when you exercise.

How important is the IOS camera stability in the plus? is it a gimmick or better and close to what some actual point and shoots/lens have?

Obviously can't comment on the functionality of the iPhone OIS but… if it's anything like the IS built into some of the Canon pro lenses then it's worth having. From what I can see it's the same kind of technology working in the same way in iPhone as in Canon so it should be comparable.

But the watch doesn't have GPS, so you have to carry your iPhone as well.

It doesn't have GPS... yet. Wait for the next gen. That's where they're going with it. The marketing plan couldn't be more clear. Besides, PLENTY of current users won't need GPS for when they're exercising.

I agree (and will be waiting for v2.0); not having a GPS chip limits the watch and makes it a less viable replacement for other running watches from companies like Garmin. I think they demonstrated that they definitely have a vision for where they want to take the watch in terms of fitness, but didn't have the time to refine it enough for this release.

It's big for some people, but I've been using a 6" phone for a few weeks now and I've definitely gotten used to it. I would probably get the 5.5" phone.

I also went to BB and checked out the Note 3. Yes, it is big, especially for those of us who have always had iPhones. However, after holding the Note 3, I realized it was comfortable to hold. My hands are big enough that my thumb can reach the other side of the screen. I also did the cardboard cutout, and it is almost exactly the size of my checkbook. And since that can fit easily into my pants pockets, the 6 Plus should too. The only issue is sitting. if in front pocket, you will likely have to remove before sitting, whereas with the 5S that is not a problem.

I'm a little disappointed with how much bezel there is on the 6+. They actually made it bigger! It's also going to be pretty heavy compared to the 5s.

That being said, I'm getting the 6+ for myself and the 6 for my wife and kid.

For those that have tried the printable templates, make sure you haven't got a "scale to fit" or "fit to page" option set when printing. I printed them last night from Chrome and they came out way too small, something didn't seem right when I held them up to my iPhone 5.

In terms of the thread topic, I too am conflicted but I'm leaning toward the 6 Plus. There's no doubt it's a big phone and it's going to be way less convenient to carry around and use one handed, but for me the size of the screen makes it a best of both worlds between a phone and a tablet. I have an iPad2 which I basically never use. Whenever I read an article or watch a video I always reach for my phone which is always near me, my iPad is always in the other room and then I get annoyed that I'm consuming all this content on such a small screen. iPhone 6 Plus essentially solves this problem for me. The few differences of the Plus over the 6 are nice to haves but not really a factor in my decision.

I am getting the iPhone 6. It has the perfect size for me...
I would get the plus only as a second device. There are so many occasions where I can think of that the size of the plus would be a big problem:
  • Going out in the summer. Most of the times with no jacket with big pockets..
  • Being among a lot of people, when commuting (in a train or bus). I would appreciate a smaller sized iPhone in such a situation.
  • Actually, all the times where I am out of my house. Having to think about where to put the iPhone is not exactly cool.

I had the HTC One M8 which is big, and I wouldn't want to go bigger than that.

People that appreciate the bigger display might want to get an iPad instead :)

My phone needs to act as a phone, not as a tablet.

I might get the plus too, but only because it's a new toy and it would replace my iPad, not my phone.
