4K videos are good for future-proofing your memories. I am pretty sure in the next 2-3 years 4K TVs will be popular and watching home videos recorded in 4K will be awesome. I currently have that ability with my Note 4 but I hardly use it because: 1) phone gets really hot, 2) it eats up storage like no tomorrow, and 3) phone limits the recording to 5 minutes. I let my GoPro Hero 4 Black handle the 4K recordings.

In all likelihood I'm probably making a switch to a GS6 this week. I'm mostly interested in the camera and fast charge on it. I'm not convinced the "user experience" on the iPhone 6S is going to be competitive. This camera will likely not be as good as Sammies and I worry about the battery suck from the new iphone hardware and processing and the GS6 seems to have this figured out. Am I wrong?

apple can make 4k
apple can make force touch
apple can make A9 chip
apple make 2GB ram

but 1 thing they cant make

( battery last long extra )

If you are going to switch, make sure you turn off your iMessage NOW. Let the Apple servers have at least a week to sync your account, otherwise, you will run into the messaging mess.

Wait I thought Mega Pixels don't matter.. :\
The thing here really is that Apple NEEDS to get more pixels into their camera in order to get 4k. 4k refers to a resolution of either 3840x2160 or 4096x2304 (It's kind of weird). But the aspect ratio of those is 16:9, the camera sensor usually offers 4:3 though. So the minimum camera resolution is either 3840x2880 or 4096x3072. The first one is 11.1 MP, the second one 12.6 MP. Those are the minimum number of pixels to even fit 4k on the sensor.

apple never copy 4k way to other technology
they might call something else not 4k name
:apple:Vision. That's right, remember who called it first.

Sounds better than "Six S Plus" for the name of a phone. ;)

You had a choice yesterday and the day before yesterday. It was your mistake you chose to stay.
Apple doesn't do "choice" they tell you what you want, which is older (pardon me, "refined") technology packed into a form factor the width of a human hair and a seven minute battery life. Port iOS to other hardware and we'll talk about choice, but you and I know that'll never happen.

The OP & I agree. We like Apple's ecosystem, but loathe the outdated hardware. It's possible to have it all, but that would go against their marketing strategy.

They've always mattered, it's the importance pinned on MP that was a bit misplaced. Since Apple isn't really interested in making a better quality lens, they've shifted to MP. Their goal for lenses it seems is to keep the same quality while shrinking the packaging.

To me 3D will always be a gimmick and better color/resolution won't help. When we're talking about 3D for TV/film content, it's merely a device that force feeds the viewer the depth that their brain already recognizes reflexively. I don't think 3D will add anything of value until it's further developed into tech like VR and the like, areas where seeing parallax truly adds depth to one's perception.

There are a few glasses-less 3D sets out there. Maybe that will be the future. IIRC, the new Avatar is going to be glasses-less 3D.

Yes, but, it is your choice to either buy what Apple forces to you or not buy it. I have already experienced 4K recording on my Note 4 and I am ok with not having it on my phone. I have got my GoPro to take care of it.

so we know all about the next iphone
-A9 14nm triple core
-2Gb Ram
-Force Touch
-Gsm chip 20nm
-Space Grey,Silver,Gold and Rose Gold
-32/64/128 storage
-1 extra hour battery usage thanks to the A9 chip+gsm chip

All of you Android geeks will never figure out how Apple does things...

Apple didn't release 3G or LTE when everyone else did. Why? Timing. The networks weren't even really built out, and the chipsets were too power hungry.

Apple doesn't do a lot of things until later for obvious reasons: Apple isn't a spec whore like the Android community; Apple waits until they can do something better with a technology before they implement it; Apple typically refines a use or uses for a technology to make it more usable and reliable.

None of that matters to a bunch of spec whores, though.

Android: all about the specs, even if they don't combine to make a great user experience.

Hey buddy I was getting 100mb/sec on Verizon xlte a year and a half ago on my gs5 and gs4

Keep living in your walled garden and only accepting what apple gives you.here is what you have been missing out on! Welcome to the modem the gs5 had and the gs6 blows it away with the Samsung Shannon 333 modem in the gs6.

Here is my gs5 on that network that you seem to think is not ready and was done last year way before the gs6 came out.

I love reading all the love for 4k and 12mp when the competition has been doing it for years and now all of a sudden its a new holy coming when apple finally does it.

I also read the 6s is getting the same modem the gs5 had lol all the hate when competition had it and nothing but love when apple finally catches up.
My issue with the GS models is not the phone itself, but the OS.
Slap iOS on those phones and I would have seriously looked at switching.
But that will never happen

I don't want 4K, 1080P is clear enough. I want a camera that doesn't need 3-5 seconds to adjust its focus

They don't call 720p or 1080p something else. The only marketed term they've used is Retina ... and it's not used for video resolution.

I didn't use iPhone 5. Does the back covered with glass? if so, I think this might be related to scratch of glass.
iPhone 4 and 4s back are both covered with glass. Scratch is really easy to see.
No it wasn't covered by glass. It is the same as the 5s back but it was completely black.

They were always saying samsung and other phone makers were adding useless features and that there was no need for such high quality photos and videos. But like you said once apple does it it's like the best thing sine sliced bread. Sometimes I feel like folks on this forum have short term memory problems.

Hypocrisy should only be applied to individuals, not groups as a whole. In any large group of people there will be different opinions. For example, you are one of the "folk" in this forum too.

I agree with your point but a lot of the time it's in the delivery.

All 4k is not created equal. 4k shot on a Samsung phone and 4k shot on a $30 000 camera don't look the same (as well they shouldn't). Apple doesn't tend to be the first player to the party but they do often improve on what others have already done. I would wager that Samsung had a 4k camera first (or whoever did, I think it was Samsung) but apples will have better quality.

But why apple be the first to do something? They are always promoting innovation. Apple took a huge risk when they came out with the iPhone. They were going against mobile giants such Nokia and Motorola.

Adding 4k recording or any camera feature for that matter is nothing compared to that.

What I love is how guys like you seem to think that spec numbers are all that matters. Software is more important, and why iPhone images often look better than higher resolution images from the competition. Now, as Apple is doing, combine the higher resolution with the better software and it's obvious that IOS users should be excited.

Umm, so this supposed to be less scratch sensitive, while yours have many visible scratches.

But black surface should be easier from being affected by scratch.

Maybe on aluminium finish, scratches could be less visible.

True. But I joined this forum about 3 years ago. From my observation there is a short term memory problem.

I wouldn't include myself with these short term memory problem because if I don't agree with something being added to a phone I'm not going to change my mind a couple of months later.

The galaxy s6 takes the best pictures overall over any other phone at the moment.a web site just did a blind test with a bunch of photos using both phones and some had 5000 votes to 40 votes to the iPhone.

I think it's fair to say the gs6 and note 4 are the reason apple is going to 12mp.
