Say what you want... All 3D touch gestures can be emulated on previous devices with a simple long hold.

A main new feature... Live photos? Are you kidding me? Just take a god damn video. Even Hey Siri without being plugged in can be easily activated with a simple jailbreak.

Features like the keyboard trackpad were present in the iOS 9 betas on previous iOS devices, yet have been removed to exclusively be on these new devices.

This may be the right buy for pre-iPhone 5s users ready to upgrade, but otherwise this year it all seems so half assed.

Not a compelling buy at all. Skip.

Indeed. Even the hardware feature is not so hard to do with software (at least peak), not even speaking about live photos which can be done one any supported device currently. Using software to make you upgrade is disgusting.

Instead of adding more reasonable hardware features to new phones they will just cripple the old ones by not offering some completely software based features like Live photos. Hypocrites.

Preordered 6S+ Gold through AT&T Premier. Got into the website at 3:00 EST, shipping time was already Oct 13-26th. What, did they not get any in? Even worse, wife's order crashed before checkout, and we never got a confirmation for her. So now, AT&T site is working, but Premier seems to have crashed, and because we have a corporate discount, we can't just use the regular AT&T site. Ugh.

I got the same dates as you through ATT - funny when I look up the order it says "preparing to ship."

Have tried for an hour to upgrade with a 2 year contract with AT&T. Every time I get an error at the end. SMH forget it, ship date now is OCt 23rd. It's crap we can't use Apple to upgrade. I was up at 3am did my part and their crappy website doesn't work. Maybe I'll just take my business to Verizon, it will be a cold day in hell when I sign up for a Next plan with AT&T.

I'm excited about the better coverage with T-Mobile 700 MHz band.

This may be silly but this is my first pre-order of an iPhone.

I bought one for delivery and then realised in store pickup was an option. So I've reserved one to pick up in store.

Is there ANY chance of me turning up and them not having the phone model in stock on launch day?

I don't want to cancel my other order if so.

[\sillyquestions]

I forgot about the drop once the new iPhone hits the stores. You could be unscrupulous and sell your old iPhone as a preorder to avoid that $50 hit(I don't expect it to drop $100). If you had at least a couple people on your line, it would make more sense to resell. If the money saved means that much though, you probably should wait a couple years and just buy used. This is why the upgrade program is so successful though and also why people keep broken phones in their drawers.
I am just going by historical numbers. The reality is, it does drop about $100, especially in a large city (we are in Boston) because you have SOOOO many people wanting to dump their old phones, they are a dime a dozen. We also hop over the border to NH and get tax free, so thats about $50-70 per device saved in taxes alone (I realize this doesn't make sense for most Americans lol).

Everyone has their own opinions and different finances. What is good for me may not be good for you, but it may be good for the other guy. I simply meant to point out that resale values aren;t what they once were. You can make more buy buying a new iPhone and flipping it day one than you can save selling your previous device. This has proven statistically true ever since "every" carrier has received the iPhone. Some find the effort worth it, others don't We are all different.

I had the same thing show for me but at least for Verizon there should be no fee. Also when I review the order in the app I don't see an upgrade fee listed. Either way if I do get hit with one I'll be sure to have Verizon reverse it.

I was also incredibly surprised by the Activation Fee.

I currently have AT&T.
I paid for the device full price.
64 GB 6S.

Since AT&T charged upgrade fee and would only ship to home address of billing account, I purchased T-Mobile unlocked full price.

Should be the same thing right, since they both run on the GSM network?

AT&T sucks. Glad I ditched them 2 years ago.

Then again VZ sucks too, but their network is good. It's just the nickel and diming I can't stand about them.

completely wrong. force != duration. with 3d touch there is a light tap, a normal, and deep. duration plays no part.

haptic feedback that those who've used say is much better and dovetails with 3d touch perfectly.

4k video.

12mp iSight camera.

5mp FaceTime camera.

A9 processor way faster.

...many changes. but, obviously, normal people don't upgrade every single year. phone geeks like me do, and this year is no disappointment.
I'm still on unlimited data with big red so upgrading every year is not affordable for me. I'm hoping the 6s will last me at least until the 8s (4 years). Fyi, I've had my 5 for 3 years.

Unfortunately you will be waiting for ever. I think it is safe to say that it will never happen.

Why not, merely because of the lower profit margins for Apple? The 4 inch screen is perfect for my needs and I would really enjoy an updated version of it.

Why can't they release it in the spring 2016, so they don't cannibalise bigger screened devices & give themselves a new fresh stream of income? Same goes for updating iPad Air 2, everybody wanting a Pro would have gotten it by then. Would be great for all, I think.

ATT's preorder starts a little early and I was able to get in with ease. However all 6S Plus models are ship from Oct 16 while all 6S ship from Sep 24. Apple site and app still no good. Checked verizon and they have all 6S Plus deliver
I will be tracking the worldwide ship dates for the iPhone 6s & 6s plus live here for anyone interested:

http://iphone-inventory.blogspot.com/2015/09/iphone-6s-pre-order-tracker.html

Updated every 10-15 minutes.
It's not accurate for ATT part.

I'm living in Germany and must say - the iPhone is too expensive. Especially now that they increased the price!

Having said that, I preordered a 6S 64GB Spacegrey. Now I've got a few weeks to convince myself that it's ok to spend that amount of money :)
The UK price for the 6s is the same as the current 6 and the current 6 has dropped in price here. AppleCare+ has risen from £79 to £109

I tried paying via Apple Pay only to have a big exclamation mark at delivery address which was correct! I ended up trying several times then had to give up and resort to paying with another method. So the quick convenient way to pay let me down this morning

Same here. I hadn't set a billing address in the wallet settings on my card, but had chosen one in the App. My postcode (uk zip code) was missing a space. After sorting both of those out I went to place another order and it didn't give me the red mark. I had already done the same as you and paid without using Apple Pay though.

Ha - what a joke. So my contract ends in 2 months, and Verizon offered me to "upgrade early" through the monthly payment plan as a promotion. Turns out in the fine print I have to turn in my 5S for nothing to do it, since my contract wasn't up. Well it's hardly an "early upgrade" promotion then when I end up paying full retail anyways + my 5S, may as well buy outright.

Seriously???? It's just a friggen 0.7 of an inch difference!

just got my order in for a 128gb 6s silver via apple's website..one try..

delivers 9/25

app store wouldn't work, kept saying 'loan agreement couldn't be verified' or some ****

Did you just reserve it? I did the same thing, I imagine we'll be able to set up the upgrade program at the store??
Good question. The only issue is that it showed my phone as being a GSM phone. Wouldn't that indicate it's locked? Reserved two for pick up. Finally this was easy drama free and site actually worked.

You are not wrong, but I honestly don't even feel the new features were the reason to upgrade from a 6 series. The undoubtedly improved performance coming from the much faster cpu/gpu and basically confirmed 2GB of ram is what made me take the jump.

Having siri available at all times MAY prove useful so long as she doesn't get activated by random people walking down the street. Force touch (or whatever they are calling it now) also may prove handy, but I expect to realize it's potential if and only if they decide to one it up for Devs to do whatever they want with it.

Just got off the phone with T-Mobile. Nabbed a 6s and 6s+, both 64GB. Apparently, we were still eligible for JOD, so it ended up being cheaper than we thought.

Dude set expectations reeeeeal low for a 9/25 delivery. He thinks it'll be a week or two later, but I'll still keep my fingers crossed. I was worried after being on hold for 45 minutes!

This is the first time I've preordered an iPhone through Apple. I usually just go to the carrier store to upgrade.
Used the Apple app to do it.
Carrier is AT&T. Used the "Next" option.

1) when the phone arrives, is it already activated, ready to run, or do I still need to go to the AT&t store?
2) how long should it be to get an order confirmation email from Apple?

Thanks for any input!

Apparently, AT&T isn't getting very many of them. The Apple web store finally came online at about 12:55, and I ordered right then. My expected delivery date is a month earlier than yours.

Then again, three years ago, lots of my friends ordered theirs through Apple, and I ordered mine through a carrier (Sprint), and I got mine at least a couple of weeks sooner, so I guess YMMV. Or maybe this is Apple's way of making up for my iPhone 5's battery being swollen up like it is ready to start a fire soon....
