One of the many 6S comparisons on the internet.

Good review.....I will stick with a the independent labs that have a good reputation and a repeatable process in place. Well....like DxO for example. They do this 1000s of times and have a great track record and reputation for being impartial.

I'm glad you thought it was a good review. You can certainly stick by DXO, your perogative. What they do is akin to measuring the performance of a car based on solely the skidpad; whilst at the same time ignoring 0 to 60, breaking distance, slalom, top speed for emergency lane change etc. So if the skidpad seems to be defining characteristic that clearly is fine and dandy.

Yep...I will take an independant lab that has a great reputation over some guy who posted a video on the internet.

Yep, and that is your perogative. When you are wondering where the highlights are in the note 5 camera (as Samsung metering tends to blow them out) you can certainly think of how much better DXO has rated the camera.

Anyway, this sub-thread has been fun. See ya' in the next sub-thread.

When the iPhone loses, a good reputation and proven repeatable process don't matter at all I guess. Lol.

If the iPhone7 manages to catch up to competition, thats when DxO will matter again. :D

So do you think the iPhone 6 has a better camera than the 6s? I think this is just wrong and clearly throws the test results into question.

Forget Sony, who here would make the case that their 6s takes worse pictures than their old iPhone? Something clearly went awry.

They are incredibly thorough. But since the iPhone didn't win, we need to take the review of a random guy on the internet, rather than a reputable source who have been doing this for a long, long time. :D
That's the great thing about this, you can take anything you want as gospel. And if you want to believe a chart vs. some real results, you are free to do it. And if you want to believe any website is the holy grail of anything, you should do just that.

edit: some "random" guy on the internet showed the proof of the pudding. Sure measurements are nice but if a "random" guy can't get a good snap in certain instances, having all of the measurements of that website will not make the snap better.

The 6S could have the slightly better Camera hardware but not do as good a job with it as the 6 did, so the SW may not be as finely tuned.

What I know, is that DxO have always been thorough and brutaly honest, the Sony fans at Esato hated DxO, until recently :D the same will happen here if Apple do a better job next year.

So what is his testing protocol? What is his track record? Are his testing protocols reviewed and scrutinized and proven to be impartial? Are his results herded to be the impartial measuring stick the industry goes by?
I think we can all presume to know what the answer is. That is why everyone puts more substance and value and reliability in DxO. I will take DxO over "some guy on the internet" who uploads a questionable video.

Totally agree. The 6s hardware is better. But the software does not take advantage of it.

It is fail for the Note 5 on some tests. Simple as that, if you want to claim otherwise, it's certainly your right.

What are you basing that statement on? Where are your facts?
The fail is the 6s camera versus the 6. I will just go with the facts and well DxO.

Nah.

I'm not at all a professional and I'm not at all a prosumer. For my use, my iPhone beats my Samsung Note 4 which is laggy when it comes to focusing. And while my Lumia 1520 has a killer camera, the UI is clunky to use.

For those reasons, I prefer my iPhone 6s Plus for point and shoot on the go pics.

My facts are in the youtube video showing side by side comparisons in various lighting of both photo and video. If after looking at the video you want to claim the Note 5 sweeps the title, please feel free to do so. If you want to "dismiss" the video, again, your perogative.

That video is not fact. It is just some guy on the internet posting a video. You can dismiss DxO and it's findings that the 6s camera falls behind or even to last years model. Your prerogative.

Oh come on. Each score is an average of all the subscores, and the iPhone 6s scores particularly poorly on both noise and texture. That's what's dragging down the iPhone 6s's overall score. Had it not been for those two subscores, the iPhone 6s would be within striking distance of the Xperia Z5 (which has a problem with artifacts)

The video represents real world use, which is every bit a "fact" as the other "facts".

yes, and anyone can experience it - it got a bad score for a reason, whether some like it or not. period.

Cmon guys, you know how this works.

DxO is a great website when it rates iPhones highly, but an evil, unreliable website with an evil agenda when it rates other phones ahead of it.

Basically, ignoring facts and independent testing, the iPhone always has the best camera.

Take it easy guys. Phone cameras are still garbage compared to real cameras. As nice and crisp as the pictures do seem, I hate the rendering and pinhole like look on them!
Every thing is in focus and subject isolation is almost non-existent!
But then the majority of phone camera users are social media users who give diddly squat about actual quality and the rest of us take pics to capture our families and kids! And even fewer use it for work based reasons and recreational reasons!

This argument to me is more like how less crappy the camera on phones are vs how good it is as a camera!
