As others have said, force touch.

I think they'll milk the camera a bit as well if they really are finally jumping from 8>12MP.

I think the phone has matured to the point where I doubt very much we'll see a killer feature. I hope we don't see a thinner phone, but rather a more study phone. Better battery life, and maybe force touch in some form
Unfortunately, this model brings no excitement that we know of. Some body said 'Don't expect to much and you won't be disapointed' Only savior might be 4K recording.
Apparently they devoted too much time on the AppleWatch and let the iPhone fumble.

I think a lot of us on here are looking for a standout, killer feature and I think we're going to be disappointed. Given that Apple will be relaunching the Apple TV and announcing the iPad Pro, I think the iPhone 6s will be pale in comparison to the most recent 'S' versions.

That said, this isn't necessarily doom and gloom. We all want Apple to release more stable devices and with iOS 9 and El Capitan, Apple are already seeing this as a period of refinement and I think the same is true for the iPhones. I'm sure we'll all feel disappointed that there wasn't a stand out feature, but we won't be complaining for long if our 6s' are flawless.

I think we are getting to the point where it is hard to WoW customers. The 2gb RAM and A9 are the main hardware features, the rest is software. Apple got careless with the optimization of it software and it sounds like they will be taking care of that. That, to me, will be the closest thing to a WoW factor. Time will tell if the were successful.

Killer feature? What was the killer feature of the 5s? Touchid? Better soc and slightly better camera, different colour.
That was it. They sold lots, though...

Now it is: a stronger build, faster network cap. , force touch, new color, 2 gb instead of 1. Faster soc, and a far more advanced camera.

It is a shame it will probably have the same res/screen. But other than that it will be a significant update.

Would have loved the iphone 6s to have a 1704x960 res and the 6s+ to have a 2208x1242 res.

Each with the same a9 soc but the 6s+ a9 clocked higher for moving the extra pixels.

Because of the lack of oled rumors from supply chains and the rumors about decreased batteries, it will be unlikely that the 6s' s will have a higher res.

So this is something from the future where we already know what actually happens?

It'll have no killer feature.

Every single "S" has just been faster essentially, that is the main selling point with a couple of extras (such as fingerprint scanner, better camera etc) but nothing that truly separates it from the non "S" model.

I'll stick with my 6. Only times I've sprung for an "S" model is the 3GS as the 3G really suffered lag and when somebody listed a 5S on gumtree stupidly cheap, so made sense to buy and sell my older model for the same elsewhere.

I think a good working rounded display and a better camera would be realistic this year.

Features like Siri that came with 4S and TouchID that came with 5s were sime of the main things that separated them from their predecessors, and fairly obviously so.

Siri and TouchID hardly differentiate one from the other, certainly not an upgrade worthy feature or piece of hardware. Hence the reason I don't see any "S" model offering a "Killer App"..

Certainly not the case for many people, otherwise in that sense nothing is an upgrade worthy feature or piece of hardware.

Killer feature is what Apple says is a killer feature. We may disagree, and probably right.

For me, a "killer feature" would be "waterproof", but I doubt that would happen in an 'S' cycle release where the exterior shell is more or less the same.

The 5s was a collection of improvements in a hardware sense; where Touch ID, imo, was the killer feature. Then there was the camera, 64 bit, coprocessor, true tone led, plus others I can't remember.

Like I said before, I really think Apple is going to sell it's ecosystem.

I also don't know what people here want. It will be faster, 2GB of RAM, 12 MP camera, possibly force touch, and maybe some 6S only Siri features. That's a solid update.

For me, I'll probably wait for the 7, but I love any features added to the 6S because they'll be carried over. It's funny though, when the 5 was nearing announcement I got very dissatisfied with my 4S, but that hasn't happened with my 6. When I pick it up, it still feels new. I guess screen size was the biggest concern and now that I have a larger screen equal to the current models, I don't care as much. But 2GB of RAM and that camera are really nice...

Well if there is a killer feature Apple has certainly tripled down on security and kept it under wraps.
Seems like Apple put all their resources into the AppleWatch and as a result the iPhone 6S & 6Splus are going to suffer. I hope i'm wrong.

The increase in RAM will be a killer feature for some people. 1GB of DDR3 to 2GB of DDR4? That'll add a nice little boost especially with multitasking and having multiple tabs open in Safari.

Also, 4K will be pretty big too I think.

  • 5.7" 1440x2560 pixels AMOLED display
  • 16MP 2160p camera
  • 4GB RAM
  • Octa-core processor
  • 3000mAhLi-Po battery
Yes, that is the Galaxy Note 5.

More or less, just a remind of what the competition is offering. I have to admit even as a user of the iPhone since launch those specs have me a bit envious. The display on the iPhone is really lacking compared to a Galaxy phone admittedly.

The Apple Watch has a gorgeous OLED display, let's get it on the 6S. Although I feel like we'll be waiting for the 7 to beat out the Note 5 spec-wise.

I think Force Touch is the only real differentiator between iPhone and Android.

Android cameras have finally got ahead, they are generally far cheaper, and now they even have great fingerprint readers.

I look at Force Touch and see real opportunities for Apple, but the other upgrades (RAM, chip, camera) are just playing catch up, and nobody can deny that.

iOS 9 will be interesting, they need to knock it out of the park.

A raw spec comparison is pretty useless when the device is running a different and less efficient operating system.

More or less, it's a reference. Although I will say the 6S should offer a superior display and camera, at the very least. Users do get too caught up with RAM when the OS's are so different.

3GS - camera maybe?

4S - Killer feature: Siri

5S - Killer feature: TouchID

6S: Force Touch (hopefully not just that?)
