3GS - camera maybe?

4S - Killer feature: Siri

5S - Killer feature: TouchID

6S: Force Touch (hopefully not just that?)

3GS was (funny looking back) the fact it had 3G capabilities!!

I think Force Touch will be pretty big considering there will be three stages to it. A tap, a press and a deep press. Can't wait!

Force touch may be a killer feature if you think ahead to future iPhones.
Think about touchID, it was maybe the killer feature of iPhone 5s but it became so important with Apple Pay one year later. Siri was the killer feature of iPhone 4S but they called it beta at the time and it shows its full potential with Apple Watch where you have no keyboard to type.
Force touch could allow Apple to get rid of the home button in future versions of the iPhone but I wouldn't consider it a killer feature of the new phone. Developers will take time to implement it on their apps, so it will be something cool but not a compelling reason to upgrade from iPhone 6.

The iPhone 3G introduced 3G to the iPhone lineup.

Could be fun for games, and some apps. Curious if could "weigh" items like a certain other phone manufacturer's force touch alternative.

Hopefully the killer feature would be all-day battery life (the improved efficiency of the A9 coupled with iOS9 optimisations and thicker chassis/larger battery). Battery life is becoming the one thing I'm worried about iPhones, based on my iPhone 5 that cannot even last longer than half a day (and nope, Apple said its battery is fine, not defective, and thus not replaced under the recent recall).

I'm not looking for a killer feature but would be impressed with upgraded ram, improved Siri and wireless charging. Force Touch will not get me to open my wallet.

Unfortunately, this model brings no excitement that we know of. Some body said 'Don't expect to much and you won't be disapointed' Only savior might be 4K recording.
Apparently they devoted too much time on the AppleWatch and let the iPhone fumble.
This comment can be applied to everything in life and is a good aphorism. Don't expect touch out of life and you won't be disappointed.

Apple typically rolls out upgraded features that make a compelling package.

Well if there is a killer feature Apple has certainly tripled down on security and kept it under wraps.
Seems like Apple put all their resources into the AppleWatch and as a result the iPhone 6S & 6Splus are going to suffer. I hope i'm wrong.
If it's Force Touch then it's something that has been discussed for a while now.

Speed was the main feature but I consider that just to be expected for each new gen.
At the time that wasn't quite the case yet, so a decent spec and performance bump was the thing (at the time for that particular upgrade).

If it's force touch I'll be disappointed. I have it on my MB and really don't like it. It ad complexity to an OS that prides itself on simplicity. It isn't intuitive at all and can be darn right annoying to use.

Has anyone figured out a word for Force Touch that begins with the letter 'S'...?!

Speed, Siri, Security, ?............

Strong
Because the Force is strong in this phone

Besides, the new aluminium alloy actually makes the phone stronger

Can you disable it?

I wish the camera had more MP. The more MP the better the zoom without distortion. Since so many are ditching their P&S more pixels for better zooming would have been nice. Apple is too cheap. They know Apple fans will lineup to buy no matter what. I was listening to Leo Laporte talk about this on KFI over the weekend.

I think the killer feature will be that it's the best, most powerful iPhone ever. In other words, I'm not looking for a killer feature.
So the same that every other iPhone launch in history, or would Apple ever release an iPhone that is worst, less powerful than the previous model?

For me, the killer feature would be the alleged super-enhanced cameras

  • 5.7" 1440x2560 pixels AMOLED display
  • 16MP 2160p camera
  • 4GB RAM
  • Octa-core processor
  • 3000mAhLi-Po battery
Yes, that is the Galaxy Note 5.

More or less, just a remind of what the competition is offering. I have to admit even as a user of the iPhone since launch those specs have me a bit envious. The display on the iPhone is really lacking compared to a Galaxy phone admittedly.

The Apple Watch has a gorgeous OLED display, let's get it on the 6S. Although I feel like we'll be waiting for the 7 to beat out the Note 5 spec-wise.

I'm not envious of any other phone with the notable exception of the Nokia Lumina 1020. Display, camera, ram, processor, battery...all of the Android phones need those specs. Android needs a larger processor to compensate for the operating system lagging. It needs a big battery to compensate for poor power management. It needs a lot of ram to accommodate the poor resource management of the phone and OS.

Any camera that excels in picture quality is not the direct result of megapixel count. Do I want an iPhone with a large amount of megapixels? Yes, but not at the cost of picture quality. I've seen some great pictures taken with Android phones but for the most part they were oversaturated to trick people into thinking it's a good picture or it's an HTC with great low-light performance with a 4 megapixel count....

Specs don't mean much when it comes to usability.
