I am defending Apple's right to run their company as they see fit (within the law) and to make as much money as they can.
ya you like getting ripped off, we get it.
Apple hasn't done anything wrong by continuing to offer the 16 GB base, even though many here are trying to paint that kind of picture.
They've managed to create the most disappointing S upgrade ever.

I'm someone who has a 16GB 5s, and I don't have a huge amount of photos and apps, yet my storage is always nearly used up. 64GB would be overkill for me, but 32GB would've been ideal. If 32GB was the base model, then I would be saving myself €100 -that's a big deal and nothing to be snuffed at.

With the new Edge plans and payment plans for phones, it's making the larger capacity phones more affordable for just a few bucks more a month.

I always buy the entry level, minimal storage iPhone. However, I'm noticing with my 6 Plus it's no longer cutting it. I'm playing more games due to the larger screen, taking more pictures, taking more videos. Granted, iCloud does help with photos/videos but many games are becoming 1GB+ (Mortal Kombat) and many apps are storage-hungry (Numbers/GarageBand/Etc).

Might be the first iteration of the iPhone I opt for a larger size

Apple knows that as soon as they make the base model 32GB, people will complain that 32GB is too small.

They will probably up the base to 32GB when they can move the entire line: 32GB, 128GB, 256GB.

Or they could do it for the 6S, and this rumor could turn out to be false.
ya exactly. if apple upgrades the storage people will say it's not enough and ask more. likewise if apple upgrades the camera people will say it's not high rez enough and ask for more. and if apple adds faster lte people will say it's not fast enough and want more. seriously wtf is wrong with apple trying to upgrade their phones. they should never improve anything, that'll teach everyone a lesson.

Faster speeds may be all well and good from LTE, 4G etc... but depends on your mobile provider.

I live right on the edge of 4G even.. so patchy 4G at best... but its also logical since Aooke is following numbers : 5, 5s, 6s, so i guess that also means a 7, 7s, 8, 8s etc.. too

It's hard to disagree with you on that quote. I was thinking of a snarky comeback stating how you're wrong, but I can't think of anything.

2 GB RAM is nice, sure....better camera, ok... Force Touch is nice (love it on my new retina Macbook but curious to know how they will integrate this into iOS) but will this force the current iPhone 6/6+ers to upgrade?

iCloud only gives you 5 GB for fee ... which ... if you full utilize ... gives you 21 GB ... which is still pathetic.

No, if they upgrade the base storage, people will say, "Thank God, it's about #*$(ing time!"

I don't even know what your point is other than to be pointless.

Apple needs to consider increasing the base model for iphone +. Phablets require more space for apps.

Chouldn't agree more. They're pushing the 'pay to use' iCloud. I was forced to subscribe due to photos and videos that cannot fit on my 16gb no longer. Sure, there are ways to download them to my Mac but it's much easier to pay the $1.99/mo than use iPhotos and hope they upload correctly.

watch we find out it's only 1gb of ram too.

force touch will be pointless on the iPhone for years. It'll just add an extra menu and most app dev won't bother as they need the apps to be backwards compatible with previous gen iPhones.

32gb of storage would really be a killer feature IMO on this s as games such as hearthstone are already over 1gig.

I really want more storage but I don't want to support apples price gouging.

it was a joke, hence the lol

I think they'll make 32gb the base model on the 7. That way people can choose the 'cheap' 16GB 6S if they want. A bit like they have with the 8GB 5C.

Because Apple is now what MS used to be. One big, clunky and most of all greedy corporation.
I gave up on iOS devices 3 years ago. Not coming back anymore since there is really no reason to come back.

We're going off topic, but it's going to happen. Someone else will come along with the 'next big thing.' Maybe not in the next 5 years or even decade(s) but it will. As I kid I worshipped MS and Bill Gates and thought wow how can they fail. I think now 'how can Walmart ever fail?' Nothing is infallible.

Seems pretty simple to me. 16gb sells more icloud storage.

However.. Google drive is unlimited and One Drive is 1-2 TB so their are options.

I still worship both every time I get my dividends from my preferred shares of MSFT stock as a former employee. :)

The 3GS base model was 8 GB. Please don't spread FUD.

what a joke

2009 - 3G S - VGA video recording (640 by 480) - 16GB base storage

2015 - 6s - 4K video recording (3840 by 2160) - 16GB base storage

Apple should make the entry level 32GB but there's one reason the probably won't: they don't want a bunch of downgrades from 64GB owners. Neil Cybart who runs the Apple centric site Above Avalon claims that keeping the entry level storage at 16Gb is saving Apple $3B.

Yep. Apple knows exactly what they are doing here. If the base model is 32 GB a lot of people would be fine with that and would not have any reason to spend more for the 64 GB. Apple knows how to make lots of money and to direct the consumer where they want them.

It has very little to do with the cost difference because it would hardly amount to a few dollars on the wholesale side.
