Changing for a new one is no use because they also will have the same problem. My friend got a replacement 2 days ago and he had the same problem today.

He is regretting because he spent $40 on his glass screen protector and has to buy another one for his replacement phone which has the same problem.

Happened again to me this morning, making me miss my morning alarm. (Good thing an obnoxious loud car sped through my neighborhood)
One thing I noticed when I was in a state of panic trying to check the time on my phone as I woke was that the screen was flashing very very fast along the left corner hardly noticeable but you can barely see it in the dark.
Also for some reason the phone would not power at all when plugged into its charger, I had to unplug then do the home and sleep button. Home button was not hot this time.

Well knock on wood mine only did it 1 time last Saturday did the home & sleep button trick its been doing just fine for the last week and my phone is turned on 24/7, I also turned off iCloud and turned off ID touch to unlock the phone I only use a pass code now, I'm only running 11 apps as well, Had it since the launch day 6s 16g running on 9.02 (PS I'm only using iTunes now to backup)

iPhone 6s, 64GB, iOS 9.01, Restored from Backup of iPhone 5 iOs 9.01 on 26. September 2015
Display dark, Power and Home Button not working, Touch ID/Home Button very very hot.
First time malfunction on 28. September 2015. Reactiviation with Power+Home for about 10 seconds worked.
Apple Support found no problems with their "Mobile Resource Inspector".
Second time 30. September 2015. But this time TouchID was not hot.

I have asked to change the device. Got a new one with express service on 01. October 15.

Now it is the Samsung A9 Chip. (Don't know what the processor of the faulty one was)
Restored from the last iPhone 6s Backup of the returned one.
Updated to iOS 9.02
No problems with the new one.

So you turn off functionality, have 16gb, 11apps... Can you explain why you have an iPhone? :)

You have what is commonly know as dumb luck... Nothing you did took care of the issue.

I too had a lock-up on my gold 6S plus, 64GB, but maybe different. Pressing the home and power button simultaneously did nothing. Plugging my iPhone into my iMac. There was no effect to this. My lock lasted 3 hours. Then pressing the home and power buttons seemed to work. I returned the phone, but my Apple Store could only exchange it for a silver. My new phone has not had a problem. However, I have not been able to reserve a gold for in store puck up exchange. My silver has the better chip and a good screen, so maybe I should keep it?

Thanks

I've had my second lock up.

iPhone 6S, 128GB Gold, UK sim-free from Apple. iOS 9.0.2, received on launch day.

Interestingly, my Apple Watch could still ping the iPhone, the iPhone responded with the pinging sound. Every other function through Apple Watch wouldn't work.

I use mine with FB and other Apps I do not put a lot apps on mine due to its a 16g this all I could afford, Phone calls, I do a lot of google searches seens how my 5 year old PC is getting stupid, And this member wakinghour susggested I turn those off after my shutdown and so far no issue as of yet knock on wood, He talked about doing this earlier in this post

im really hoping to get tsmc... i dont understand the chip architecture but somehow i dont blame samsung about this.. they only manufactured it but the design is done by apple. i just dont believe that the manufacturing process might be bad. somehow im thinking that there is something wrong with the software. but i dont understand the chip architecture well enough.

Been running iOS 9.1 Beta 4 since it was released on Tuesday (6th) evening and not experienced the issue on this build. Prior to that I had experienced the issue 3 times, since receiving the iPhone 6s on launch day. Not wanting to count my chickens, but I think the engineering team might have this one sorted now.

Both my TSMC iPhone 6S's had lock ups so it's not related to the chip.

Mine was/is TSMC, also. That's not the issue. It's now 96 hours since loading PB4 over PB3, and 3 had the issue four times in several days for me. None since loading PB4. So, unless it's some really weird combination of things that I've not done in the last four days... :)

I saw one web story that told people to do all the things we've pretty much disproven here (type of backup, set up as new, reset settings, even the chip type... arg...). Hope 9.1 drops soon to fix this for everyone, if that's the actual final answer!

Wait so you had this problem multiple times on PB3 but nothing on PB4? Sounds promising

Has anybody had this on PB4?

So, my new iPhone 6s just started having this issue this week, it started on Wednesday and happened every day since besides today. I was very worried about it, and googled it and found nothing about it. Today, my girlfriend texted me and told me her iPhone 6 screen won't turn on, but Siri worked. She soft reset it and it fixed it. So I googled again and found this thread. Neither of our phones were set up from a back up, because I refuse to do that to any phone. They are both 9.0.2. The interesting thing is she said her Siri continued to work, on my phone nothing worked, my watch wouldn't update, which is how I discovered the phone was off. Once my TouchID button got hot while it was locked and not waking up. Hopefully Apple does something about this one quick, happens to be my first major issue with an update.

I had the problem today on iP6s on 9.1 public beta. Just once. Running fine after that.
Didn't face this earlier on 9.0.2.
