Well, for the survey:

1. Model, OS, and actions before the problem occurred.
* iPhone 6 Plus, 64GB, MGAH2PP/A, problem was experienced throughout iOS 9.0–9.0.2, an unresponsive screen while in an app; for example, Safari or Twitter then I will press the sleep/wake button to put my phone to sleep, then another time to wake my device then it won't wake.
2. Was the device started as new, or restored from a backup?
* The device was backed up and restored through iTunes multiple times and the problem is yet to be resolved.
3. Was it restored through iTunes or restored through iCloud?
* The device was backed up and restored through iTunes.
4. Has the device displayed a heat warning prior to shutting down?
* The device was not overheating prior the "freeze" scenario.

I had the time to drop by an Apple Retailer yesterday and played with their iPhones on display. Two of the 6s Plus actually failed to wake when I went back to them after taking a look at the accessories. Both were charging on the dock and needed the Power + Home button reset. Seems pretty common.. forgot to take not of the iOS build though but I'm pretty sure it is on 9.0.2 since its on Wifi and had no update prompts bubble on Settings.

Happened to me.

On Friday I woke up and got the message that the phone had been switched off and on so I needed to manually enter my pin. I thought to myself that's a bit weird.

Woke up this morning and the phone was off.

I can't afford to be late for work and always use my phone as an alarm.

Anyone got any solutions? Has Apple acknowledge this issue?

Just happened to me, launch day 64GB Gold 6s on 9.0.2, device restored from an iCloud backup from an iPhone 6, it had no heat warning or anything before it shut down.

I was wondering why my alarm didn't go off, but then I realized maybe the battery drained out (it was at 45 or so, so it was perplexing that it drained that fast).

Then, I discovered the Touch ID button was extremely hot. I'm talking, burning hot that burnt my finger, after that, the phone wouldn't boot up. I initially thought maybe my phone just flat-out died, but then I did the classic reset tool (hold both home and power buttons for 10 seconds) while being plugged in to power and it rebooted.

I really hope this is fixed in a software update because this is inexcusable. This is the second time I got a random shutoff, but only the first time the Touch ID was burning hot.

Long time forum lurker, but first time forum poster due to experiencing this issue for the first time this morning. 64GB 6S+ running 9.0.2, was plugged into power overnight, and on standby. When I woke up, I pressed the Touch ID button to check the time, and no response. Had to do the double button hold, and it eventually rebooted (and showed 100% battery left when it powered back on). Touch ID button was very hot. Glad to at least know that it's not just my phone!

iOS 9.1 beta 4 second day, no problem at all. And this beta is really faster than 9.0.2.
I had problem on 9.0.2 only ince when I swap SIM card.

I've had this shut off issue a couple of times with my 6s. Don't think I had it with the previous 4s or 6 that I recall. I missed the pizza guy and they took my pizza back and cancelled my order. I went to call them and realized my phone had shut off. iOS 9.0.2, 128gb. I set it up with an iCloud backup of my 6.

Another case of repeated shut down. 6S 64GB. No activity prior to shut down. Battery full. Restored from iCloud. Have another for spouse and no issues. Both in 9.0.2. Need the phone so I plan to reset as new phone. No apps. Basic functions until this is resolved by Apple. Apple, we have a problem!!!!

9.1 should fix this problem. Dont worry guys. Beta runs smooth snappy and no lag or feeeze

Wow this must be the worst iPhone launch release. So many problems with the new phone. Yet, we all get the new iPhone soon as they are released.

Umm sorry this has happened with just about every new iOS launch. With greater hardware complexity you're going to get "issues" -- but Apple's QA team has seemed to missed some rather obvious bugs in the last few releases, IMHO.

This just happened to me for the first time. I got the 6s Plus on Thursday (Manufactured week 40) and set the device up as new. No hot home button.

4. Has the device displayed a heat warning prior to shutting down?

Peeps it doesnt matter you setup as new or not. Its just 9.0 bug. Dont waste time reporting. 9.1 beta has no problem

Is 9.1 expected to be released within the next few days?

It could be out today but I have a feeling they may hold off a bit longer. Unless there's a security issue we don't know about it won't be released until iPad Pro is available. I'm guessing 10/26 for a 9.1 release date.

Happened to me for the first time on Saturday. 30% battery, not plugged in. Called an uber but the time I got home the phone was off and the touchID button absolutely redhot.

Will contact Apple and get the phone replaced.

Maybe just luck but I've had this replacement for 10 days now and not one episode of this problem.

I was experiencing it daily on the old handset.

1. 6+, 9.1B4, blank screen.
2. New
3. N/A
4. No

9.1B4 seems to be a bit more stable, but I've still had about 3 or 4 lockups since installing it Friday. 9.0.2 was locking up to 3-6+ times a day. I've also noticed that my touch id gets pretty flakey on occasion and doesn't work. It usually works fine after a reboot, then gradually starts not responding.
