I think it's targeted towards Chinese women. Gold phones are targeted towards Chinese men. Similar to how, generally speaking. White phones are targeted towards western women and black phones are targeted towards western men.

It's almost day and night from the iPhone 5/5S, yeah? The protruding camera, the rounded edges, the huge, clunky phone, the plastic eyesore band strips on the back, the obscenely tacky colors like gold and rose gold pink... It's unimaginable.

Even if I were to ever imagine them getting to this point, it CERTAINLY would not have been guessed to occur this quickly. I mean, they designed arguably the most beautiful phone in the world just 2, 3 years ago when they introduced the iPhone 5.

Sad to see where they've come.

I ordered the gold as a western male. I fancied a change as long as it's not too blingy that's fine with me.

But yes the 5s for me way the best design once they'd solved the problem with the rubbing off coating the 5 had.

The rose gold looks so different in every picture I see. Can't wait for mine to be here on the 25th to see it for myself!!
Maybe it looks different in real life (meaning, the angle in which you see it and the surrounding lighting affect the color)

That would be very interesting.

I went with Space Grey because of the black front (The grey itself is not very interesting)

OK, so what's your alternative then?
look at iPhone 4/4s,Galaxy S6,etc
Neither had those awkward antenna bands, and they look so much nicer and more premium from back side.
why use this stupid aluminum material that scratches like soft soap anyway?

haha, yeah. and i can't believe Samsung copied them in their newest phones.
did you even see their new phone? Because it's made of glass and frankly looks much nicer than iPhone 6 with scratch magnet aluminium and those retarded antenna bands.
they copied the nice aspects, round edges for example but bettered Apple in material used and avoided those ugly bands by using glass instead of aluminium.

obviously I'm iPhone user and will always prefer iOS to android but that won't stop me to complain about iPhone's flaws.

OMG, finally! Working for a carrier all these years and this is going to be the easiest box ever to tell them apart! I'm dead serious btw. This will save me headache!

My space grey can look gold, silver or grey depending on the lighting. So I would guess the Rose gold could also take on coppery sheen or pink depending on the lighting, with warm incandescent lighting bringing out a coppery hue and cool lighting from LED or fluorescent bulbs giving it the pink shade seen in these photos.

I can't understand people begrudging the release of this color when Apple is still making the more conservative silver and grey tones. They're offering the customers more choices and trying to appeal to foreign markets. I would never presume to impose my tastes on the rest of the world by insisting Apple never produce colors of which I don't personally approve.

While I'm delighted with it just because it is new and fresh and a break from stodgy monotones, I can understand some people find it excruciatingly ugly and fully support their right to say so. But to insist it should not be offered at all when fellow customers are enthusiastically ordering it seems very entitled to me. Really, if you don't like it, don't get it. Nobody is forcing people to buy pink iPhones at gunpoint. Well, it's a crazy world so perhaps I shouldn't speak in absolutes. There may be some lunatic out there with a pink iPhone fetish. Okay...I'm clearly up past my bedtime. o_O

I'm totally with you on this. I wouldn't get the pink/rose gold phone myself. But wouldn't complain the good choice that people who are okay with the white bezels have. I think most of them commenting that the new colour is ugly are those frustrated people who want equal choice for the black bezelled phones too. I'm one of those not-too-happy chaps, but not complaining about the new colour at the same time. We would be a happy bunch if we get a choice of gold and rose gold with the black bezels too. Not even that...we'd be happy even with a darker space grey alone. But yes, the new colour seems to appeal to a sizeable lot...who am I to say their choice is ugly. I know many here who find the space grey dull and unappealing after all.

Oh I can understand wanting more color choices for black bezels. Black is actually my preferred color for the bezels, but I did decide to change it up this time since I don't dislike white. I am very surprised Apple didn't offer a black chassis or near black like that on the Apple Watch. And like so many people here, I'm surprised they released three white bezel models and only one with black. I don't know why, but I did not anticipate such lack of balance in the product offering. It's all perplexing and I can understand the frustration.

The opinions expressed about the new rose gold have been as colorful as the phone. But we're all adults here and I can take in such opinions without getting offended. In fact, I'm amused by some. Love it or hate it, we can't deny it's quite the conversation piece!

And the debates over the color itself remind me of all the fuss surrounding this interesting orange and green :p dress:

My point was they copied even the ugliest part of the iPhone which almost everyone has been complaining about.

That is the pinkest rose gold I've ever seen...

I'm starting to think Apple named it "rose gold" to attract more buyers because who would buy it if said pink? Certainly not most of the male gender.

I still find it amazing that certain men will not wear/own shades of pink or purple. It is a color.

The only reason that I did not order RG...the white lines.

The Galaxy S6 doesn't have antenna bars at back.it's made if glass and metal, antenna bars were not necessary.
It has 2 very short bars at buttom, not noticeable at all unlike iPhone's.

It's the same reason why mean don't wear dresses. You could argue "it's simply cloth". No, it's more than that, quite frankly. It's culturally instilled into us since literally birth (baby boy - blue, baby girl - pink). Gender roles, etc.

Agreed. However, in brand new condition. I think the black and slate iPhone 5 color was the absolute apex in terms of industrial design for any Apple phone ever created. Followed by black/space grey iPhone 5S, then the white iPhone 5, then the silver iPhone 5S. The 4/4S follow after that.

I mean, have we forgotten how beautiful these phones were?

Cannot wait to kid around with my guy friends who purchased the Rose Gold iPhone! LOL! Just cannot wait till 25th and after!

The new phones look like cheap over feminized tacky hipster crap. The older 4/4s and 5/5s in my opinion represented apple at its best. Those phones were the best looking.

You say that like it's a bad thing.

It's cool that Apple came out with a phone that will appeal to a lot of women. And hipsters. And tacky people. The smart phones couldn't remain male oriented and conservative forever and expect to increase market share. People are diverse. And shhh...this is not apparently widely acknowledged in the tech industry, but some people who buy smart phones are actually......female!

I hope Apple makes a ton of money on the Rose Gold. Then maybe they'll come out with Chartreuse next. "Is it yellow?" "Is it green". "Dammit, I'm not getting it if it's yellow, that's for girls. I wanted green!" "Oh, it's too green for me. Why couldn't they have made it more yellow?"

Edit: I'd better add that I'm kidding about Chartreuse. While it would be entertaining to watch the forum explosion, I do think that's a tough color to sell. It clashes with a lot of other colors people like to wear or accessorize with.

I'd never realised how much I miss that design. I think part of the problem is the conformity to the screen sizes of the other maufacturers.

Too many white models. We need more diversity.
As far as the pink (Rose Gold) iPhone this I don't think will be to hot with males but most if not all females I'm sure will want it.

What I would like to see is a Black Face iPhone with a Red Back. But then again for most of us the color of the back won't matter much because anyone smart I'm sure will have their phone in a case.

I sent a order for a Space Gray iPhone 6s Plus (128GB) & it is inspected to be here around October 14th. Right now I have the Space Gray iPhone 6 Plus (128GB) & when I get my new 6s Plus I plan to put the 6 Plus on eBay but we will see.
