We need to find a way to get Apple's attention.

Hi! I'm from Singapore as well and my phone (space grey) looks just like yours and everybody else's on the page! I was wondering what emails you sent to apples and what you said in order to get a replacement? I'm really upset because since the day I got it, it's been in a case that covers everything including around the speakers and headphone jack and within a week it got so many chips which I tried to blissfully ignore, but really couldn't because I'm really nitpicky about these things, and after 3months it has gotten so bad I can no longer ignore the chips that I clearly didn't cause as I've never dropped my phone or had it naked ever! Really could use your help! ):

Ok, bad news, at least in my case.

Yesterday I made a phone call to Apple Support and their advise to me was to go on an Apple Support Store in Portugal, since the one closer to me is in Lisbon (80 km away from where I live) I decided since I was going to give some friend a ride to the airport I could try to go on that store and show them my iPhone in order to know if there was any possibility of sending it to warranty.
The guy there told me there's no chance they are going to swap the phone and his argument was since they also accept phones with aesthetic problem when they have any hardware problem, then, I should be able to live with it even when it was not my fault that the phone is losing his paint.
He also told me that there's no exchange program for this kind of problem with this model, maybe because very few units are having this paint problem.

PS: I already used that store services, and this guy was always pretty cool to me. I also asked him to switch my MacBook Pro Retina LCD since I have 1 dead pixel, he told me that warranty would not cover the LCD since it was not easy to see the dead pixel but he could "make" the problem worse (if you know what I mean :p) and they would switch my LCD without a problem. So, it's not a "bad mood" denial over the iPhone problem in my point of view.

Anyway, I already posted some photos. But today when I took the cover away the phone was even worse... It's really losing it's paint in some corners/spots.

All I can do know is "pray" that the phone might have an hardware problem before I try to resell him.

Hey Guys,

I was very upset with this chipping that looks like scratches on my Rose Gold iPhone 6S, i'm a very careful user, and that was so frustrating! You can see what it looked like at the photo bellow:

I decided to take a look at the internet to find something about it, then i reached this forum, which gave me a little hope that my device could be replaced under warranty.

So, today i went to the Genius Bar here in São Paulo's Apple Store, and after a quick look, the specialist readily said he would give me a new device.

He told me that his iPhone also came with that, which he believed to be a production line problem. He also said that this isn't actually being noticed on newly arrived devices.

Lucky you!
I asked for a swap and they denied.

And mine is in much worse shape.
As I already said, used with Apple Leather Case since day 1.
I find it ridiculous... this isn't my fault at all.

Caused by dirt/debris inside the case. You should take the phone out once every so often to clean it and the case or you get damage like this, especially if you use it in a dusty area.

As I previously said.
I had an iPhone 6 with an Apple Leather Case and I cleaned it as much as I cleaned this one.
The iPhone 6 after 1 year looked like it just came out of the box.
It's not about my usage, this is some problem with it's paint.
I bought 2 iPhone's 6S Plus Space Gray + 2 Apple Leather Cases.
Mine is the one on the photos, the other one went to my uncle. His phone has no problem at all.
Now, if we both have the same exact model and use the same exact case model. Why is my phone in such bad shape and his phone is as new as when he took it out of the box for the first time?

They are not painted.

So you are telling me that the aluminium has a rose, silver, gold and gray color and none of them is painted. It's a natural aluminium color?

Ok, I'm new here but I finally found people suffering from the same problem I am.
My iPhone is getting worse each day, I'm leaving here a link all the photos I just took, it all began near the camera and I always used an Apple leather case, bought with the phone and covering it since day 1.

I also live in a country without any oficial Apple store (Portugal) so I guess all I can do is call them and tell them about my phone. Of course that it will be hard to believe and even imagine without seeing the actual photos. Since I can't even find an email to send pictures of what my phone looks like I am really worried that I will have to keep a phone with 4 months that looks like 4 years old.

You have scratches on your antenna bands, and on your camera lens too. So you definitely did not always use an apple leather case with it.

You may has used it a lot with a leather case, but it has definitely been exposed with out it.

The anodization problem does not affect the bands, or the camera lens.

It's not scratches. C'mon guys, if you googled about anodizatjon before you should know how hardy that coating is. And that's why my previous iPhone 6 Plus was still in a pristine condition after a year. Whatever that is happening to PlaceboT's iPhone 6s is exactly what's happening to mine too. It's like some virus spreading on the surface of the aluminium. You can check out my macro shot of it.

I'm not talking about you. I'm talking about the guy I quoted. In case you forgot, I supported your case.

If you look at the guy I quoted, he has scratches on his antenna bands, and on his camera lens as well. My point was not that he is not suffering from an anodization process, but that he did not always have his phone in the case. And it has suffered some damage while outside the case.

I remember reading that a "negative" of 7000 Series aluminum was that it had less resistance to corrosion. Is it possible that that's one of the factors here? Maybe some debris or residue, on the case before anodizing, and the result is in the pictures posted here? Just a guess.

I love when people start talking about what I did and what I did not, like someone here on the forum would make the swap and not Apple. I'm not trying to convince anyone in here, I'm just telling my story as is.
My antenna bands have no scratches, neither does the camera.

I'm not going to argue anymore, I know this isn't normal and not my fault at all. Even if I used it naked all the time the phone shouldn't look like this.
This doesn't look like normal scratches, how could I scratch the sides of the phone? I have this problem on the card injection slot swell. And on the left side also.

BTW, just found this photo on Apple Support Foruns. Does this look good? I doubt this guy did this could have done it even if he wanted to do it on purpose.

Don't listen to some guys here. For them Apple never does wrong. Obviously you have a bad unit and it's not fair at all for you as you have paid a small fortune for it and expect nothing less than quality.

Hi! I'm from Philippines and tried to reach out to an authorized service center here (we have no official apple store as well). Mine was denied also when I was asking to make a swap. My 6s rose gold unit has these same issues. My unit is now 6weeks old and the "chipping" is getting worse. I believe this is a production defect but they said that this is a "cosmetic issue" and the warranty does not cover it. As far as I know, Apple will not cover it unless it was due to a manufacturing defect. They said I need to contact Apple to raise my issues so they gave me a toll free number. This is frustrating since i never dropped my phone at it has a spigen case also. Will try also to post pictures soon!

Aluminium on my 6s Plus has been chipping on its own especially at the edges. It's appearing at the bottom of my phone all along the antenna band and now it's appearing at the top. It's also appearing around my pentalobe screw holes, lightning port and headphone jack.

I seriously think it's a manufacturing issue. Some problem with the 7000 series aluminium that's causing the edges of the aluminium to be very very easily chipped. I used my phone with a cover since Day 1 and yet this happened. I used my 6 Plus pretty much naked for the whole year and yet it hasn't chipped even though it has softer 6000 series aluminium.

Do any of you have this issue?

Hey man, i think we got the same problem here. I got the same marks on the buttom part, on the side of the camera and on the upper right antenna band. Here are some photos.

FUUUUUUU.

I just noticed that my phone is starting to have the problem. Only at the bottom, near the right screw.

It's so minor right now, I don't think any Apple store would take me seriously. But I can see it the beginning of what others are suffering from here.
