U OPs lawyer or something? There's obviously something wrong with the way OP used his phone. I'm sure it didn't come out of the box like that.

Anyways, he got what he wanted... A replacement. Even though it's not apples fault. Apple never fails to deliver.

Wow. You never fail to deliver. This would be very easy to ascertain if it was the OP's fault. He has a new phone now. If it chips again then it's his fault - would you like to make a bet whether that happens or not? My money is on no.

Yes I will monitor and report back if my new iphone have the same problem. If it chips again it's quite definitely my problem.

You're not me. How are you so sure it's a problem with my usage. And nobody or company is perfect. It's entirely possible something flawed passed their QC and trickled into the market. Even for a company with such a good track record like Apple. They aren't immune to problems.

Not chipping but here's my tale. I had a 6+ in a case for 10 months and when I took it out of the case it was in mint condition. One of the 6S+ phones I exchanged was in the same case for three weeks and had scuffs on the corners caused by the case. Is the anodised aluminium as hard wearing as last year's models? I think not...

It's possible that there may be a trade-off here between how soft the metal is or whether it's more prone to scratches. If the metal is harder, could it be more brittle and easier to scratch or chip? I don't know, maybe someone who works with metals can chime in. So maybe we have to make a choice here between the phone not bending or easier to scratch. When anything gets this thin, there are probably some tough design choices.

Before you ship it off, take and post the last pictures.

I am thinking maybe there's gas in the aluminum, and it's the bubbles that are bursting.

These are the best pictures I can get of the chips. Seems worst around the screw holes.

there's no disadvantage with Samsung vs TSMC chip... it's all BS.

Sorry to burst your bubble. There is. I tested my replacement (TSMC) vs the unit I'm gonna return to Apple (Samsung) and the TSMC is always lower in Geekbench score. By about 60-80 for Single Core and about 100 for Multi Core.

But I'm getting better battery life with the TSMC chip. I always check my usage times the moment I hit 89%. So I know what's the usage time I can squeeze out from 10% of battery life.

For the previous unit (Samsung) I get 1 hour 10-15 mins on average. For this new replacement (TSMC) I get 1 hour 20-25 mins on average. I always check my mails, surf a few websites on Safari and reply messages on WhatsApp for the first 10% of my battery life.

So there definitely is a difference. Not the most scientific test, but #ChipGate is definitely real

lol. That's a pretty big difference and I'm no power user. I don't even play games on my phone.

But really, what's the sense in even talking to a fanboi like yourself ? Lol. Apple for the win.

Hey apple fanboi, curious to hear your response on the iPhone 5 chipping? The iPhone 4 antenna? The iPhone 6+ bending? The iPhone 3GS cracking issues?

Apple messes up. They aren't perfect.

I'll be awaiting your reply once your school day is over and the bell lets you out.

So sorry to hear of your troubles. I hope the new phone stays in nice shape for you.

It's great to hear your replacement arrived!

I hope your phone's chipping was rare and not something that will happen to all phones.

There's no chip"gate". You could take two of the same phone and bet you'll see differences as well. Glad you are happy though. That chipping you had to deal with looked pretty bad.
