That was a sarcastic statement since the screen scratches so easily compared to older model iphonesNo they shouldn't. That is up to the individual owners. You don't see any other companies doing this. Why should Apple?
William, you are not alone. I too have noticed progressively more scratches on my 6s plus than my 6 and even my 5s. You don't notice them straight on, but if a lamp or sunlight hits it the right way, you can see them all over the screen.
I will never use a screen protector. They're ugly, always get some sort of bubble/dust under them, never feel as nice, often looks like crap outside, and I've never needed to use one before so I'm not going to start now!
Wonders if 3 D Touch is grinding particles harder into screen than previous. Could also be coating is softer than last years.Yep. Under "normal" usage the 6s Plus screen looks perfect. In the bright sun it's insane how covered my screen is with scratches. Again, my old 6 Plus is still perfect under any light. Crazy how one year of one device = no issues, and one week of a new devices = good grief.
So it goes..
^^ Just don't put your phone and your diamonds on the same pocket...Nope, no nails in my pocket.![]()

You kid but beware of earrings as they will scratch a screen in no time.^^ Just don't put your phone and your diamonds on the same pocket...![]()
No, they would simply find other things to complain about, lol.It would maybe result in less threads like this!
It was mentioned above a folio case may alleviate the need for a screen protector. A folio case does not make the phone immune to micro scratches. In fact, it can be an additional source for helping them appear. If you accidentally get a bit of sand/grit inbetween the screen and the case flap, and then put it in a pocket, as you move about the flap moves back and forth slightly against the phone as your pocket material flexes and moves, nicely grinding the grit into the screen.
If something as soft as a "CLEAN" micro-fibre cloth is able to scratch up some phones, then it can only be a defect in the coating manufacture.
If the sand/grit is on the screen or micro-fiber cloth and you clean the screen with it, you will add micro scratches. No coating defect is needed. No coating is harder than Quartz sand particles. Harder materials will alway scratch softer materials. Even materials of same hardness will scratch each other. Look at the home button in the bright light, you most likely will see no micro scratches on it's surface. Only other Saphire material or diamonds will scratch the Saphire.
The environment varies so the amount and type of sand particles will vary from place to place. As will the amount and degree of cleaning, rubbing each phone receives from it's owner. All manufacturers are subject to the same physical laws as we all are in using our phones.
There are trade offs in each choice of screen material and coatings. There is no perfect solution. Use Saphire and yes less prone to scratching, but also more brittle than glass and will fracture more easily. Also using Saphire means the oleophobic coatings will be softer than underlying Saphire which means micro scratches will still occur. Or we go without coating and finger prints will be the topic of the thread.
The best we can do is help ourselves with compromises, such as screen covers and gentle cleaning, and not being so finicky in looking at our screens under bright lighting at specific angles. I choose to use glass screen covers. Perfect no, but I can cheaply replace when surface is scratched and coating is mostly rubbed of. On other devices I don't pocket like iPod, I leave it bare and don't check it so critically.
I'm happy that plastic screens have all but vanished, as they could be scratched by keys, coins, knives which we don't have to worry about. Every time I see these key, coin and knife tests I am amused as they are meaningless. These softer metals never have, nor never will scratch any glass. But a piece of sand paper will destroy a screen in seconds.
This is same hoopla that happened when the 6 and 6+ came out and people were shocked that their screen scratched.
I am shocked that people thought it would not scratch!

Yeah my 15 mo daughter just wrecked her ipod screen with a nail file in no time. She also dropped it in a mop bucket with water in it. I was able to dry it with a hairdryer. You can't tell when the screen is on so I'm just going wait until something worse happens to get it swapped through AppleCare. I've only had it a week.![]()
Might want to wait with expensive gadgets a bit longer than just over a year old. Microscopic dust and grit particles are everywhere, they surround us even at home. They're in our pockets and in the air. Obviously there's more about on a windy street, and yet more down at the beach. We all have these tiny particles on our fingertips at times and one swipe on that uprotected screen can cause a tiny scratch. It's absolutely impossible to keep a screen free from tiny scratches unless you don't use your phone and keep it in the box, or use a screen protector.
Put a Zagg glass on screen and so far since 9/25 do not see any scratches on the Zagg Glass. We must be living in areas where the sand and grit are of less hardness, and perhaps not overly rubbing screen. Stating obvious here that glass protectors will scratch just same as glass screen. Just easier to replace.Been using my 6S+ for several hours a day since day one, and there is not a single scratch, tiny or otherwise, on my display.
Every year, the same thing. People thing glass is immune to scratching. Lest they forget all the old phones that had plastic screens that scratched far worse than glass ever will. You all remember that? Guess not. Glass is NOT immune.
Those are micro scratches. Your pocket, cleaning cloth or whatever you're putting your phone in/on has particles in/on it that is scratching the screen. Just because it's in your pocket doesn't mean it's safe. Turn that pocket inside out and you will see lint and other particles in it. People forget this. There are buttons/metal parts on jeans/pants near the pocket. Slide it against that and boom, a scratch. Dirty fingers with grit will do it. This isn't witchcraft, it's science. It happens. If you're that worried, wrap your phone up in a case and screen protector like 90% of the OCD world.
May I ask why the hell you're giving a 1 year old a ****ing ipod? Why not some toys, games or other **** to enhance her brain capacity and help her learn? You're doing her a disservice by giving her an electronic toy like that. You've failed as a parent.
Pictures or you have scratches.Been using my 6S+ for several hours a day since day one, and there is not a single scratch, tiny or otherwise, on my display.
Let me preface this by saying I have never scratched an iPhone screen before.
However, it's a sunny day here in Seattle, and out in the sun it's quite obvious my new 6s Plus is covered in micro scratches (those thin, hairlines ones). It's appalling. They're everywhere, covering the entire screen. I grabbed my year-old 6 Plus and the screen has zero micro scratches anywhere.
Is this new 6s Plus cover glass stronger at the expense of scratch resistance? I'm still very taken aback by how bad my 6s Plus looks. Sure, I don't spend a lot of time in the sun, but boy does it look bad, especially with the screen off.
I used my iPhone 5s for months without a screen protector and without a single scratch before getting an iPhone 6s. Now, after a month of using the 6s I found a small tiny white speck on the screen. Not a scratch but a speck/dot.
I'm not sure, it's so tiny. At first I thought that it's a dust particle and tried to wipe it away. The odd thing is that it's a dot not a scratch. I'll try to shine a torch at it.Are you sure its not a tiny tiny bit of dust under the screen? Shine a torch such as from another phone on it and see if it looks like a tiny curled up fibre. I have now seen 2 iPhone 6s with this. It just appears from a quick glance like a dot that won't wipe away, but a really close look may show something else. It is actually quite hard to make a dot like that as a scratch because most scratches happen in the pocket due to lateral movement of a bit of grit against the screen.
