No, the A8 and A8X are not similar in performance at all. The A7 and A8 are similar in performance; the A8X is in a different league

Don't make strong presumptions about the RAM. You cannot say for sure yet. You may end up being right, but we don't know yet and won't know until there are tear downs.

--------------------------------

People need to chill out, everyone is freaking out on this site - just be patient, let's wait to see what the hardware actually is, and then criticize it if need be.
And people are allowed to make strong assumptions saying this has 2GB of RAM? What I'm saying even holds more weight as the A8 chip found in the 6/6+ carries 1GB of RAM.

So the new phones have what the i6 and 6+ should have had. I still feel cheated. My 6+ has had insufficient RAM out of the box and it's the only iPhone I've owned that felt underspecced during the first 12 months of ownership. These things aren't cheap, this 64GB 6+ cost me £700 and for it to feel dated and insufficient even during the honeymoon period is scandalous. Now I have to drool over the 6S+ and not for any of the new features, purely for the RAM. I look forward to reviews from people who know what they're talking about, ie people who hate the reloading and run into it daily.

yup. that's why i never got one. and the price (here in canada) is why I am not getting the 6S either. however, there is nothing I would drool over the 6S unless you have an iphone fetish. lol.

You think Apple knows or cares about the four people on Macrumors that wax on forever about ram? Over 70 million people don't seem all that concerned about it. If it bothers you that much don't order till one gets torn down and it's confirmed one way or other. Geez what's another couple weeks? You have a phone right now. Take your mind off your phone come up with solution for refugees from in Europe.
I said that I worry some, slick, not that I'm "concerned so much." Since you are obviously so smart and richeous, I'll let you solve the refugee problem in Europe.

There was a leaked Geekbench score for the 6s saying 1Gb and 2Gb for the 6s Plus for Ram

Just Google Geekbench for the 6s and 6s Plus and you will see the 6s has 1Gb of ram and the 6s Plus has 2Gb of ram. It was leaked back in August. So if you want the 2Gb you need to get the Plus.

I'd be really surprised - even if just for parts/logistics/cost[EOS] - if Apple had two different SOC packages, though I realize the devices have other hardware differences (and even discrete UI modes).

Even the new AppleTV has 2GB RAM. I'm sure the new iPhones will have 2GB.

Incorrect, There were two leaks. The first leaked screenshot was shown running the geek bench summary page that shows it is running an A9 processor at 2 GHZ dual core with 1GB of ram. This screenshot could be either a test device or a photoshopped image.

The second leak is a full spec summary of the processor from geekbench and this is where BGR must've sourced the tri core processor at 1.5 ghz and 2GB ram information from.

Note, like the iPhone 6(7,2)/Plus(7,1) the iPhone 6s model serial is 8,2 whilst the 6s Plus is 8,1.

Leaked screenshots can be found at its original source here but the article is in Chinese: http://m.mydrivers.com/newsview/442608.html?ref=http://wccftech.com/iphone-6s-benchmarks-leak/

mini 4 uses A8X, so it uses 2 gb of ram

The Mini 4 uses the A8 as stated on Apple's website, but as Apple stated in June's iOS 9/OS X keynote that advanced multitasking would only be available on the iPad Air 2 which uses the A8X processor and was the only iPad with 2GB of RAM. The Mini 4 uses an unknown A8 processor whether it is the same as the iPhone 6/6Plus or a custom A8 specific for the Mini 4.

If your talking about that geek bench pic ( which was I think revealed last month) showing that the 6s "did have 1GB" of RAM that was confirmed to be a fake. It also said that the A9 had a 2.0Ghz Processor (which is quite a big leap from the A8) but still we need a actual gee bench test for that proof.

Specs are absolutely meaningless. Good for Apple for not announcing them.

- How much RAM does your car have?
- How much RAM does your toaster have?
- WHY DO YOU CARE?

Congrats to Apple for building the greatest phone ever made.

Juan - If you were pretty satisfied with your "car" but there was one glaring problem that could be fixed easily, wouldn't you want to know if it was before you bought the newest model?

Specs are meaningless to those who don't know anything about them or don't care about them, otherwise they mean something.
