I think it was stupid of Apple not to announce the RAM amounts today. I know they don't usually announce that kind of thing during the keynotes, but if they had announced it, then it definitely would have calmed down all the squabbling and uncertainty. Maybe most people don't care about RAM, but some do.

At the very least, they should've put it on their specs page.

Well That Solves it a 3D Force Touch Feature that won't be fleshed out til next year and that no one needs. and we are still left with an A9 CPU and Super Graphics thats crippled by 1GB of RAM

Nicely done Apple no one will talk about this.

iPhone 7 2GB DDR4 RAM and an A10X CPU in 11 months and Dual Cameras for real time 3D Photos

See you guys in 2016.

Really amazing they planned this out well. I didn't even see much Split View on the iPhone 6S Plus when my Note 5 can do Everything the iPad Pro can on a 5.7 inch display.

Wow when you take a Step Back from Todays announcements I keep Saying WAIT A MINUTE HERE .

See you in 2016, no need to reply.

The point is, Apple doesn't care, never has. What Apple announces publicly is what they want to do, not what you want them to do.

I guess the millions of units they sell justifies to them that their marketing and design are adequate. Feel free to write Tim an email to discuss.

Specs are absolutely meaningless. Good for Apple for not announcing them.

- How much RAM does your car have?
- How much RAM does your toaster have?
- WHY DO YOU CARE?

Congrats to Apple for building the greatest phone ever made.
I care about the specs that are relevant to the performance and usability of my device. So for my car, I want to know the horsepower, torque, gas mileage, displacement, engine configuration, transmission type, gear ratios, etc. And I get all that info. For my toaster, I want to know how many slices of toast I can fit, how hot it gets, and so on.

With the iPhone, RAM is a critical specification. It tells me how well the phone can multitask.

I said that I worry some, slick, not that I'm "concerned so much." Since you are obviously so smart and richeous, I'll let you solve the refugee problem in Europe.
Okie dokie, we arranged to send 50 of them to stay with you. Please pick them up at airport Friday night at 8:30 pm.

Think anyone at the preview tables will ask what Ram it has and then post on YouTube? Surely someone will ask and maybe post on Twitter..

It's one if those commonly asked questions when a new phone is launched so let's hope

While I understand Apple not announcing RAM during the presentation, it's inexcusable not to include it in 'tech spec' page on their website, it's inexcusable for us to have to wait until the tear down to find out phone's specs

What an analogy. I care as much for how much RAM my toaster has as I care for how many slices of bread my iPhone takes. As written above by another user, RAM is a relevant spec for a (mobile) computer, at least 1GB vs 2GB is a critical difference at this point of app evolution where it indeed can make a real life difference no matter how optimized Apples iOS works. It isn't for a toaster or a car.

Not true. The devices shown yesterday didn't have any way to install apps like Geekbench, and the first units don't ship until 2 weeks from now.

This is just to help everyone stop arguing lol but I went ahead and decided to ask Apple chat for the answer and this is what they told me. You can go ahead and ask the specialist right now and it's the same thing. I even called and they game me the same answer. Hope everyone is happy now
Lets hope it's true.

Other phones need to put 3-4gb of ram because Android is a resource pig and requires it to even run as smooth as iOS with 1-2gb.

This. I wish people would understand there's a reason android phone manufacturers are consistently upgrading the specs of the hardware, and it's not just to look good on a spec sheet.

Apple will disappoint you with 1GB of RAM the same way the 16GB storage is.

Have fun recording 4K videos. You'll get an alert about running out of space probably sooner than the RAM starts lagging your iPhone.

Except it will. 4K video at 30fps is a huge amount of data, so before it's written to the storage it's buffered into RAM since it's much faster. When recording is done it starts writing to storage. 4K at 30fps is just shy of 350MB a minute, so you can record about 2 minutes of 4K footage before 1GB of RAM will bottleneck the **** out of the phone. Remember that the RAM is shared between the CPU and GPU part of the A-series chip, so if 700MB is taken up just by a video you're done with a total of 1GB of RAM.

I asked chat the same question and was told 'we do not have released information on ram with iPhone I'm afraid' ... As I expected. I wonder if the transcript above is genuine. I have my doubts?

It means they do have that information, but it's not for release just yet. They wait until people get deliveries of their iPhone then announce the bad news. Well played Apple.

There's just no way it's still 1gb of RAM. Apple wouldn't release another crippled device after the outcry over RAM in iPhone 6

Maybe they improved the storage speed so it writes directly to it? But they still screw the customer with 1GB RAM.

There is no extra functionality such as 3D touch for the iPad Mini 4.

On the website, it just says A8 chip. This chip isn't modified unless said so. 99% sure Mini 4 will have 1GB of RAM.

Yes correct, then again this is about the new iphones
