I'm so glad I went to the store before this program was revealed to avoid disappointment. The replacement was manufactured in Sept 2016 interestingly.

I brought my phone in Covent Garden and the guy set up the repair straight, no questions asked. They had no batteries in stock as the phones affected are a lot. They will let me know when they receive the new ones.

Had the same happen to me at Covent Garden. They booked me in again for Saturday to have the battery replaced. Will be a bit annoyed if they still don't have any.....

I really don't like this battery replacement program, it is not the problem as we all know... Apple just doesn't want to spend too much money on exchanging phones.
But as it is a widespread problem, I guess that at some point there will be a class action in the US, and this will be give Apple bad ad. just like Samsung...

Just to report same shortage of batteries in Norwich, UK. Genius admits they still don't know what's causing it, but that replacing the battery seems to be fixing it...
Will receive email when battery is in stock to be replaced, which according to their system is expected to be around the 12th of December!!

I agree. It ain't the battery. Well, that's what both the genius and Apple support said to me.

And what I told the dude helping me. I told him about people who's had their batteries replaced, and it not helping. He said we will see. I also asked if he could put iOS 9 on there when he did the fresh install instead since mine started having problems at iOS 10, and he said he only could do the newest.

When i paid for my battery replacement last week, they gave me a new phone instead (after a 1.5 hour repair wait). Sounded like the new battery didn't fix the problem. So they gave me a new white box phone. A lot of people are suggesting some type of logic board issue. In my case, it was definitely not just the battery's fault.

Just been into Bluewater apple store, and after being told twice that my serial number qualifies, then being told it doesnt, he agreed to change the battery free of charge.

Have to go back in a couple of hours. Hopefully will solve the problem. It can't make it any worse.

Update: went to pick up my phone and they said they couldn't fix it so gave me a brand new phone. Result!

I had mine replaced today and it just turned off at 16%. going to drain it and fully charge to see if it fixes it. Checked on coconut battery and it is brand new 0 load cycles.

Are those people getting replacement Phones getting TSMC or Samsung A-Chip models as replacement?

My Samsung A-Chip iPhone still turns off after replacing the battery.

Samsung replacement. But it's working perfectly so far.

I opted to have them overnight a phone to me and send mine back when I get the new one. I don't mind having the $700-ish tied up on my CC for a few days to save me multiple trips to the Apple Store. But this is by far the worst phone experience I've had. If I was a kid just concerned about missing friend's calls/texts that would be one thing, but this phone is for work, so I can't be sitting at a customer site supporting them, hoping that my phone ( even at 40% ) will last long enough for me to finish my work...I've had it shut down so many times I bought a back up battery I have carried everywhere, just in case, it has saved me a number of times already. I guess the tipping point for me was watching it drain by about 50% over the course of around 20 minutes...without any apps running and my only turning it on to check battery during that time. I just got an apple watch as a gift ( so bluetooth would always be on now -eating more battery ) and figured I'd better find out if I had to live with my phone like this, because if I did, I would take the watch back and figure out what to do about a different phone...

I remember when you used to be able to go into the store without and appointment and see open time slots and get an appointment within maybe 10-15 minutes. While I was waiting there were two people at my table, both just wanting the geniuses to help them upgrade OSX/iOS...not faulting those people, but requiring a "genius" for that? I almost leaned over and told the genius to help someone else and I'd help those customers upgrade SW, at least I would have done something useful during my wait. :)

Got my new ( refurb ) phone ( with supposedly a new battery ) two days ago. Got it all setup and it's been so much better so far. I've hardly had to charge it, so far so good. I'd recommend to anyone to call Apple and have them send you a new phone ( put a hold on your CC in the meantime ) and then send yours back. Then you get a whole new phone and battery that way, going to the store you have to make a minimum of three trips and even then you just get a new battery. I'm growing not to trust Apple these days, so a new phone w/battery was the only thing to make me feel batter about this, for some reason I didn't fully trust the people working in their store would actually replace all batteries if they got busy...just my feeling.

Thats exactly what I'm doing now. I've been to the Apple Store twice, when i got in today I was to I'd be waiting around 3 hours for the repair because most tech-support staff has been reassigned to sales for Black Froday, which is when I threw in the towel and left. This is not why I bought AppleCare, wasting 6+ hours of my life with a problem I'm not even responsible for in the first place.

(On that note, reassigning tech support to sales clearly shows what kind of priority existing customers are..)

Thinking about just sending mine in instead of bothering with the store. Do I just call and ask them to overnight me a loaner phone or what?

I don't know what to do...
My phone shuts down every time when 16-20% battery left, besides it won't turn on if it's cold outside (in this case even turning low power mode on doesn't help..).
I bought it in April, so it's not covered by this so-called "replace battery program", but it has 6 months warranty left...

I'm really relieved I went in there a couple days before this happened. My replacement phone has been working as normal. My battery was okay at the time they swapped the phones out, so I was pretty sure, it wasn't just the battery. I feel like I got lucky.
