Figured I'd chime in after 1 week of getting my battery replaced.

Took it in to my local apple retail store here in Vegas. They said it would take 1 hour and 45 min for to be done. After 1 week of usage, the phone does indeed drop all the way down to 1% and I haven't yet experienced a shut down around 20 - 25%. Seems like everything is good to go.

Just a follow up...

I was finally told by the senior advisor over phone that somehow I have to go to the store to get the repair. Fortunately it wasn't far away. I went there last Saturday and asked for the repair. They checked the serial number and ordered a battery for me saying that it should arrive a week later. It turned out to be faster than expected. I received their email on Wednesday telling me that the battery was ready and I could visit again in 6 days. The next day I brought my phone in and they performed the battery replacement, for 2.5 hours. Nothing other than the battery was replaced. They left a small scratch on the edge of the screen but I would say it is still acceptable. The whole phone got greasy too but could also be easily cleaned.

As for the new battery, it was at 20% when the phone was returned to me. After a walk in the cold outside (-15ºC), it dropped to 2%, but didn't shut down. When I got back and activated the phone and connected it to the computer I could see from the Coconut battery app that it had 1805mah. Looks promising.

No the set up was very easy for me. My iphone 6s was purchased from Verizon and is also out of warranty (over a year old).

I set up the repair following the links on Apples website: https://www.apple.com/support/iphone6s-unexpectedshutdown/

I never had to speak or chat with anyone to set up the repair. I just had to turn off "Find My Iphone", enter my serial number, and log in with my Apple ID. After setting up the repair online I got a confirmation email. Later that day I got an e-mail with the tracking number for my shipped (empty) repair box, which showed up the next day.

It is interesting how everyone has such a completely different experience. I still have no idea why sometimes they are replacing battery and logic board and sometimes it is just the battery. Or in my case, it was the display assembly as well!

I did the express exchange with Apple (nearest store is 2+ hours from me). The new phone's battery life is MUCH better than the old one. Apple did tell me that if they don't verify the problem, I will have to pay $300+ for the repair. That gave me pause, since the battery shutdown problem had only occurred 2-3 times. However I had the shutdown problem in the middle of resetting the phone prior to returning it to Apple. I'm sure they will see the problem when they pull the diagnostics from the phone.

I did the same thing. My replacement just came in the mail today. They charged my card $400 CDN, but I was told the phone they sent me was only temporary until they replace my battery and ship my phone back to me. In the replacement package it does say its replacement and not a loaner phone. So I'm not sure what to expect here...

Same issue on a 6S Plus. Auto-shutdown around 10% remaining battery. The serial number is not accepted in the Apple replacement program...

My 6S has same issue, has AppleCare (without"+"), but is not qualified for the program according to their serial number check page. I wonder if I can have the battery replaced in this case?
======updated below======
Went to Apple Store yesterday, and they wanted to replace the battery after checking my 6S, saying I can pick up my phone at 10pm. But then they figured out that my phone has AC+ (Yes, with"+", sorry I was wrong because the product w/ AC is my MacBook and I was confused), so, only a few minutes later they took a white box in which there's a replacement for 6S, instead of having me to wait for a couple hours to pick up my repaired phone. Yay!!!

Had my iPhone 6S's battery replaced yesterday, my old battery was causing my phone to shut down randomly (especially when using the camera or camera-related apps). The battery percentage would also drop rapidly: I could pick the phone up and it would show 85% charge, yet 5 mins later it would drop to 70%. Hope this new battery eliminates both problems.

How long have you all waited for the battery to come in? It's been 2 weeks since I was at the Apple Store and they verified my phone was in the bad batch.

4 days for me. Maybe you can call them to check again.

Also 4 days. Had to make two trips to my local Apple Store (cheekily asked if Apple would reimburse my travel costs - thought it was worth a shot). :p

Got mine replaced yesterday. Yay. Dropped if off on the way to my brother house for a dinner then picked up on the way home. They said it would take 3.5 to 4 hours and said the later the better just in case. I went back 5 hours later and it was good to go. They said they had no problems getting it changed. I don't know what brand of battery I had and what they put back in, but hopefully mine is cured, at least until next September when I upgrade.

She did also say there's a 90 day warranty on the battery is this correct?

I've had my new battery for 9 days now and no problems at all. It previously used to shut down around 40% (as high as 60% once in 0 degree C weather). I can now make it down to 1% and even go a full day without charging, all despite a much colder temperature in the last week.

Got mine done...

They broke my screen while replacing the battery. Not only that, but this morning, I realized that while replacing the screen, they broke my home button as well.

I did an express service replacement phone. So far, no shut downs and the battery seems much better for me.

Of course, 10.2 was also released at about the same time, so maybe it is a combination of factors.

How long did it take for you to get your express replacement? I just processed my order last night around 5pm and my phone still hasn't shipped yet. My phones battery is draining very quickly and I am really in need of the new phone.

This is good to know. I live in PA and right now our temps are around 20-30 degree F and my phones battery has been draining VERY quickly. I have a replacement on the way right now.

I think it was 3 days or so from when I had an Apple chat. I can see things possibly taking longer because of the holidays.

Better battery life at iOS 10.2 this new battery is kicking ass

The problem has returned.

I received a full exchange because of the problem in October 2016. The iPhone I received was brand new (as indicated by a new 1yr warranty).
Yet, after working for two months, the problem has now returned with my phone turning off at 25% and lower multiple times.
I really can't believe it.

Also, my girlfriends and and others friends iPhone 6 (no S) have the same issue. I also had this issue with my 2yr old iPhone 6 work phone before I replaced it with a 7.

I am wondering if the issue is not actually limited to the first batch of 6S phones but in fact much more widespread.

I used to be such a loyal apple customer and advocate but I just cannot believe what has happened in the last three years.
It all started when my iPad Mini became basically unusable after the first mayor software update.

Terrible news....
Mine was replaced too, but I thought this will fix the problem permanently...
