I think people have a right to feel upset, it's something they wanted and they didn't get it. Why is that hard to understand? Whether they should be upset about a material possession is a conversation for a different forum.

There seems to be confusion. I'm speaking to the folks who were never promised a phone on launch day and are upset that their phone didn't come in. Folks can certainly be upset that their phone isn't here yet, but if you were given a ship date in October did you (general you) realistically think you were getting your phone on launch day? Wishful thinking is one thing but you have to be realistic.

I am a newbie, thought I'd share.

Preordered a bit later:
Order date: 09/09/2016 at 6:20:29 a.m. ET
Matte black 7 Plus 256 gig.
Estimated ship dates:
September 23, 2016 - September 30, 2016

I am stuck in the preparing to ship zone like a lot of people here.

I am in the Dayton Ohio area, anyone else in Ohio have any luck?

Same, I really don't mind not getting it today. But, I ordered a matte black 128gb plus at 3:04am. How are people getting it who ordered after me? It makes no sense at all.
I think it also has a lot to do with the logistics. Doesn't make cost sense to deliver inventory to customers 50 miles out when customers within 20 miles are waiting for the same devices. No bias here - I too, am waiting for my 256GB Plus Black which was ordered 10 minutes after preorders opened. For instance, Fort Worth, TX seems to be a major distribution hub for these orders. I'm sure that those closer to Ft. Worth are getting priority. Just speculating as we wait.

While I understand your point, where AT&T has failed us once again with this release is their horrific ordering system. I'm fine with no getting my iPhone 7+ JB 128GB today, but seeing others that ordered after me get their is irritating to say the least....FIFO! FIFO! FIFO!

at&t seems to be going LIFO with that queueing ;)

Just went to my local AT&T store in CT they got ZERO Pluses in

Pre-order finally went thru for me at 3:17am +128 jet preparing ship status 10/14-10-21. My order shows a time of 3:06am though whatever that's worth.

Agree to disagree...FIFO in today's world is not that difficult. AT&T needs a little bit of a software upgrade to their ordering and fulfillment systems.

In my case, living in Houston doesn't have any advantage for me. It seems like everything is shipping away from the south. I'm still waiting on my 7+ MB 128 shipping dates 9/23 - 9/30

Here's another idea.

Take this thread's history of order statements and compile them into a timeline. Then, analyze who got shipped when and observe their corresponding order time frame. The results of this analysis would show the optimum time to actually make a preorder.

Without doing the hard work of the above analysis, I'd suspect that ordering at any time prior to 12:01am PT or for up to approximately 6 hours forward, your orders don't necessarily ship sooner.

Anyone enterprising, there's the beginning of a project for you. Just give me credit when it becomes famous!

Has anyone checked the other carrier threads to see if they managed to get 256GB models shipped for launch day?
T-Mobile told me they haven't seen any. Just saw someone on Verizon just got tracking info for a MB but no confirmed delivery date so I don't think so.

I live two blocks from an AT&T store. On the way back from getting my coffee just now I saw no line so went in to ask if they had any Pluses. They did. In every color except Jet Black. I was thinking of swapping out my Gold Plus (when it gets here today) for a Matte Black one but the more I think about it, the more I'm leaning toward keeping the gold.

I've had a launch day delivery date ever since I ordered.
MB 7 128
When I woke up this morning the status had changed to backordered.
Somewhere in this thread I read that's a good thing. At least I hope so.
Fingers crossed.

“Beginning Friday, limited quantities of iPhone 7 in silver, gold, rose gold, and black will be available for walk-in customers at Apple retail stores. During the online pre-order period, initial quantities of iPhone 7 Plus in all finishes and iPhone 7 in jet black sold out and will not be available for walk-in customers. Availability at partner locations for all finishes may vary and we recommend checking directly with them,” reads Apple's official statement.

I blame the Apple Upgrade people. They took our phones.

I'm okay with my 9/23-9/30 shipping date, what I'm nervous about is the stories of people who had later shipping dates and receiving their phones on launch day without any update (from previous preorders,6 and 6s preorders). I would just appreciate some type of update.

I ordered my phone 2 minutes before the official launch time and received an October window. I had hopes I would get it because other people had shared that the windows aren't reliable. Now that it seems I won't get my phone, I'm bummed. First world problems, I get it. I'm still bummed.

Maybe you should hit up that Sunday Worship instead. Maybe that would do you some good! Yes, people are upset. Is it a big deal? Not really, but you're a new member who signed up to get pre order updates, yet you're bashing people who are just looking for simple pre order updates. You are on the same level as the ATT team. Clueless.

As an incredibly early order I'm disappointed Apple didn't give us a heads up that 256GB 7P JB were not launching on the 16th. Whether or not AT&T had that info I have no idea. I'm not really mad at anyone. I will say for those mentioning the crazy estimated ship dates as a defense, that's a poor excuse. AT&T always gives ridiculous dates and everyone who orders very early always gets their phones except for one instance with the iPhone 6. This is a launch so it's completely understandable for someone to believe they'll get a phone on launch when they order crazy early regardless of estimated ship dates that historically mean nothing.

Technically the launch dates themselves have been more accurate than estimated ship dates in the past so I would cut those who are complaining a break. I mean if we say the carrier can make up any date and we need to abide to that, they could theoretically give you date's into next year and then no one can ever complain ever...
