It just makes more sense (to me, at least lol) to pay an extra $3 a month or so versus the $400 it'll be to upgrade early next year

Ordered the same phone as you at 7:07 am eastern time and got a 2-3 week shipping time with a delivery estimate of October 4-10. (You didn't say which version you ordered—mine is AT&T, which I suspect is the most plentiful.) My order status is "processing." So I'm about one week behind you. But it wouldn't suppose me if the phone gets here sooner or later than the promised delivery window.
My husband got his new number. If you go to your order status in your att account, it shows the new number.
I did order iPhone 7 Plus 128GB AT&T Jet Black. I completed my order around 2:13 a.m. CST (12:13 a.m. PST). As others have noted, delivery dates changed (later date) after I completed purchasing process. At end of purchasing process, it originally stated Oct. 3 - Oct. 10. After online chat yesterday w/ Apple representative, she was able to expedite shipping so now it shows delivery date between Sept. 30 - Oct. 6. I hope it ships earlier than that because I have work trip Oct. 3 - Oct 7. Do you think it's possible it will be delivered in September if not Sept. 16? I've considered cancelling the order and ordering the same model in Rose Gold as it shows delivery dates in September, but still holding out hope that my Jet Black will ship earlier then listed. What do you think? I know I can fill out the pre-shipment form like I did last year when my Apple Watch delivered while I was out of state and a friend came and got it off my front porch until I got home. Obviously, that's not my preference though. My order says it is still "Processing".

I got my order in at 2:43am EST. I did it from my PC. It seems that some were just randomly let in earlier.
Just FYI all of my extra temp authorizations (had 4 on one card and 3 on another) fell off for the $0 ones and credits for the tax on Next except 1.
Only 1 $52.20 remains for the tax on my 128gb Plus. So looks like the billing error is straightened out ATT had running cards multiple times due to site errors.

I ordered 6 minutes after 12:01am and I got a 9/23-9/30 date for a Black 7+ 128gb. Think this will come on launch day? I typically don't order on launch day and the years that I have, friends who worked in store would hold a phone for me.

It seems like the consensus is every specific model/color/capacity got assigned the same delivery date if it was ordered soon after the pre-order started. Everyone is hoping they're rough estimates and that we'll all be happy campers on 9/16!
Just in case it helps anyone, ordered at 3:03 AM EST. That order was canceled by AT&T (I received the "Yor order is pending" email). Resolved the issue and ordered again at 4:56 AM EST.
Shipping estimates didn't change within that time. Currently Pending Shipment.

Yeah I think a lot of people who went through AT&T have this date range - I ordered right at launch and I have the same date range.

For just the +, right? I ordered a regular 7 and they gave me a launch day delivery.
My wife's rose gold 32gb 7 has always shown delivery date of 9/16.
Previously my 7+ black 32gb was an October 7-14 range.
Today they are both 9/16
I changed to att yesterday from T-Mobile around 3pm est all done online.
Have a good feeling we will get both on Friday!!

I ordered through a FAN account through my work via assistance from an online chat representative.
Once you know your carrier (UPS, FED-EX) and receive a tracking number, you should be able to call the carrier and ask them to hold the package until you return. I've done this. Now, as some have said, you may even have the phone delivered BEFORE you receive tracking and carrier information, so that would make my point moot. Lol.
