Just keep it plugged into the headphones you have and leave it in.
Yes, that works for one pair of headphones, but I use the audio out in both my car, my wife's car, but also at friend's houses and at shows where I use my iPhone to play music through the house PA between sets. That is major inconvenience. But, I'm fairly mindful of those things so I'll get used to it. I do wish Apple didn't remove it though.

Estimated ship dates:
October 7, 2016 - October 14, 2016

if its preparing to ship already, does that mean I will get it launch day? I preordered a silver 128gb plus. I had to reorder and my dates got pushed back about two weeks because something was wrong with my first preorder.

Dayum. And you'll still get yours before I get mine. LOL

Not everyone. I started trying at 2:45am.

No, not everyone. As i said before, I was on "queue" screen when it went live about 55 min ahead of launch. I'm pretty sure there was some sort of queueing order from that page (i.e. they let people in who had been on that page longer). I never refreshed that page and got in early. I had the ATT queue page open in other browsers and ATTs app and was not offered early entry on any other tab/browser/app. I feel it behaved similarly to what I've experienced with concert ticket orders where they open a "waiting room" before the sale starts and you're let into the actual order page semi in order to when you entered the waiting room.

No one knows what "preparing to ship" really means at ATT. Per their site it is after the order was in process/received/processing stage.

I have a hard time believing every phone with ATT is preparing to ship already, even if the ones coming from China. And especially the ones dated early to mid October.

does anyone here know when on launch day our phones actually get delivered? this is my first time preordering an iPhone. i worked the night shift and UPS usually delivered my packages in the evening.

I'm debating on calling AT&T and have them change it to store pick up but I'm afraid something might happened and i wont be able to get it on the 16th

Exactly. Not to mention the orders went "preparing to ship" almost immediately. I don't think it's comparable to Apple's preparing to ship. My ship date is still Oct 13-20 and I'm preparing to ship, which is really odd.

I know mine didn't go to preparing to ship until late in the afternoon yesterday. So it did take some time - it was processing all day.

What model?

I think it's important what color/capacity/model

7 Plus 128gb black - my order time is 12:03am/3:03am EST - on launch date - and it was processing until yesterday late afternoon/evening - then I got another email saying that my phone was preparing to ship and it also contained the phone number for the new line.

Color? I guess that matter more than model even. Seemed to be very heavy on the 2 new colors and less on gold/silver.

See it make no sense, some out ours (mine is 128 Plus black) went right to preparing for shipping so there seems to be no rhyme or reason.

Unless the estimated dates are just all way off.

black

Yeh black ones (black and jet black) seem to be all over the place.

I ordered (due to ATT's site issues for over an hour verifying the upgrade) finally at 4:20am and got prepared for shipping in the morning waking up; never saw processing. Same color/model as you

Yet my date range is 9/23 to 9/30. Makes no sense at all; unless like I said all of these dates are messed up and everyone prepared for shipping will be getting tracking this week for Friday/maybe Monday to Tuesday delivery.

Some October 4 to 10th ones are also "preparing for shipping" which makes even less sense.

Apple iPhone 7 Plus (Black, 32 GB)

I refuse to believe my actual shipping date would be pushed that far. I literally placed the order before midnight. o_O

On a side note, the time was initially 3:02 AM before it changed to 2:59 later. After I got order confirmation email, I received the "We've received your order!" email ~2 hours later.

True it was about 2 1/2 hours after I placed my order that it went to Preparing for Shipment. In past scenarios (iPhone 6 in 2014), Preparing for Shipment meant the phone was about to Ship. Back in 2010 with the iPhone 4, shipment notifications for launch day delivery began on Tuesday. Also, according to one of my posts, I had a delivery estimate for June 25-28 and launch day was June 24. I ended up getting it delivered on launch day, though. But considering the amount of issues a lot of us faced (including myself) I don't think we should be using past years to predict what will happen this year.

That's why I think these estimated dates are all BS really rough best guesses; they are all over the place.

You ordered a 32gb plus, probably the lease desired storage, at 3am and got later than me at 4:29am for a 128gb black Plus, likely the most coveted color/storage and I got 9/23 to 9/30 estimate.

It all makes little sense right now. And all of ours say preparing for shipping despite the dates

Well in terms of they are WAY conservative this year probably not to hurt anyone's feelings.

And they look like heroes when the phones show up earlier than estimates. A mental thing.

That combined with the fact so many with later dates are already "preparing for shipping" Lotta happy people there if theirs show up the 16th or even Monday the 19th and that week.

I would bet most phones beat their estimated dates by a lot if we charted the day difference data.

Maybe AT&T heuristically shells out a random date based on the rate at which orders came in? Maybe their system runs like "In the past 60 seconds, 10,000 orders were placed. Let's assign an early October date!".

Whereas other, later times, their system said "In the past 60 seconds, (only) 2,000 orders were placed. Let's assign a Sept. 16th date!".

I was just on the AT&T website and ALL phones have a shipping date of 10-07 to 10-14 except the JB Plus which is well into late November now.

Well not the regular iPhone 7s. I'm seeing a lot of configurations having a September 16th shipping date.

I would assume they do it by volume of each model/capacity/color, after a certain volume the date rolls over to the next week and so on at the next cutoff. But it doent cover cancelled orders (ie. orde #200 and 245 etc are cancelled everyone moved up 2 slots in the line) etc either. And who knows how accurate that is, or if Apple chose to release more stock, etc.

It's just very odd people from 9/23 well into mid October are already preparing to ship 6 days before launch.

That is very odd. I noticed that too.

I kept seeing the October dates even on the 7's in the new blacks, my bad for not checking the other colors available in the 4.7".
