I preordered my 256GB Jet Black iPhone 7 Plus at 3:04am through ATT with a shipping range of September 30-October 7.

I cannot remember after reading through these forums, but were there any 128GB/256GB Jet Black 7 Plus phones given a shipping range of September 23-30?
Because if so, I am really screwed because none have shipped, and I am in a shipping window for the next week...

Matte black

That is messed up. Any chance your order is screwed up? I know of one person here that the order was messed up because there billing address was wrong or shipping address was wrong format, I can't remember which it was. But something was wrong in one of his addresses and his order was stuck until he fixed it.

I realized that I ordered the same day you did just a few hours later. I too have the ATT app and will just hang tight and realize that I will get a text when its time.

I was totally fine with the 23-30 expected ship date, until I started reading this thread, started checking the status every 10 mins and got my hopes up for an earlier date. :)

This is my first time preordering an iPhone so I am glad it will get here a day earlier than expected.

7+ 128GB MB, 9/9 8:04 ET, estimate 23-30, shipped 9/21.

smh That happens to me as well when I use the reserve link. There phones all around me lol that I can't make it to...at least without reserving it to make sure it's there before I drive 1-2 hours away:mad:
Luckily the closes black 7+ 128gb is in Richmond... no temptation there :D

Ordered an iPhone 7+ 256MB on 9/9 @12:20am PST, FEDEX tracking says that it was picked up today at 2:24pm in Fort Worth, TX and scheduled to be delievered tomorrow here in Los Angeles. The MB 7+ 256GB phones are really moving today and probably tomorrow.

AT&T is really odd in how they are handling the shipments. I agree with many here that it was a waste of time to stay up/wake up early in order to jump on the pre-orders, but it seems as though shipment depends on three factors: 1) which models AT&T gets a hold of first 2) which region the customer is located in and 3) customers place in the order queue. It might seem like #3 is completely ignored, but I think they need all 3 factors to fall into place before sending out the phone. I still think it is ridiculous and that they should have come up with a better system in regards to what is being communicated to us, but this seems to be how they are going about it. Definitely would be better to pre-order through Apple next time!

Hope your phones start shipping out soon too!

It's not just the shipping dates. Shipping WAY out of order, ridiculous and misleading junk email telling us our phones were "on the way", then the insane "scheduled maintenance" 90 minutes into preorder. They go live a half hour before anyone else which caused a hiccup in the system. No, this was a very poor implementation of the preorder process. I suppose we'll just agree to disagree.
I'm going to address these points, just because :)

- Shipping way out of order: This thread addresses the issue, somewhat (see also the part speaking of hand-packing 2 million preorders);
- Ridiculous and misleading junk email telling us our phones were "on the way": Various reports here state that some folks who either cancelled or otherwise received their phones appeared to have received the same message. On this point, I'd agree; bad form on AT&T's part. Another report stated many escalated this to AT&T;
- The insane "scheduled maintenance" 90 minutes into preorder:

This one I happen to have some experience with in having directly or indirectly overseen more hardware and software deployments than I care to count. Prior to preorder, even Apple had their entire store go down from like 8pm ET until preorder (and they didn't even open back up till 3:15am 9/9, at least in my browsers and on my phones). AT&T and Best Buy (the only others I cared to watch) were similarly "down" regarding preorders until approximately 3:01am ET (maybe somewhat sooner).

In all likelihood, such a "scheduled maintenance" was very likely the preparation that they were not taking orders until "the" time to do so. Was this absolute? Of course not, as many have allegedly stated in this thread, and as I experienced two years ago with my and my wife's iPhone 6 Pluses (ordered about five til 3 that time).

So, this "scheduled maintenance" is highly unlikely to be what you think it is -- that AT&T took a plurality/majority of their systems down right in the middle of the highest point of ordering during the year.

You see, when companies like AT&T have to be audited under such quality assurance schemas as Sarbanes-Oxley, they pretty much have to have Change Review Boards and similar infrastructure. That means that for each and every deployment, there is a release manager who must get a certain number of approvals from a certain number of individuals to even be able to move forward on a given deployment. That's why things are so slow to change in many corporations. And even if it's not SOX (which companies use to appease outside third-party vendors that they know what they're doing for internal changes), it's likely protocol for AT&T corporate.

Moving on...

- They go live a half hour before anyone else which caused a hiccup in the system: Again, not sure exactly where this is going. As I mentioned, I had an experience of preordering before preorder two years ago, but still got my iPhone 6 Pluses within promised shipping window (yes, I still have the emails and yes, I checked). At the time, a CSR told me that those such as me who got in before 3am were put in to the upstream system at some point after the real order time; not sure if that's what happened here or not. Either way, we don't actually know to what degree the FIFO method worked, or even if it did at all. Therefore, we don't have enough data to state whether or not something anomalous did occur.

tl;dr: We partially agree and disagree, but there's more to what's going on with the preorder process than what anyone knows (except maybe company insiders).

So question for those that received their devices from ATT. Does Fedex require signature for the device ?

Many people have mentioned that fedex just dropped off the package at their door. Appears that fedex does not require the signature.

something needs to happen. every sound my phone makes I think its a shipping confirmation. I just received a SHIPPED text, and it was for Amazon.

It's been a while since I posted, but I'm || this close to taking my business away from AT&T.

I woke up on Sunday to my 6 Plus not having service. I called the tech department attempting to find out what the issue was and whether or not this meant my 7 Plus was shipping (ordered 9/09 with a time stamp of 3:06 am). We came to the conclusion that my phone was having issues as my SIM card worked in my girlfriend's phone, but the rep told me that my phone was in the warehouse and would be shipping ASAP and I'd get a tracking update either Sunday evening or Monday morning. She said if the problem persisted, go to an AT&T store and get a new SIM card.

I got through most of Sunday with service, but 10 am rolled around on Monday and my phone went silent again. I popped my SIM card into my co-worker's S7 and it worked perfectly fine. I called AT&T when I got home from work and that's when the problems really began to take off.

The tech lady I spoke with on Monday told me my account showed I had an iPhone 5 (which I hadn't used since I got my 6 Plus) and then she was confused as to why there was an S7. She then went on to say that a new SIM card should fix the issue. I had her transfer me to a supervisor at the e-store to find out why they weren't shipping in the first come, first serve order like they said they would.

The supervisor at the e-store was an absolute moron and couldn't give me any useful info. I proceeded to press him into telling me that they currently had 900 128GB 7+ in MB in their warehouse at that moment. I then told him to have his direct supervisor call me (which he said would be 1-2 business days), and I still have yet to receive that call.

I went down to the store and got my SIM card and was told by the store associate that he could not activate it due to a pending upgrade. Understood. He said call back to the tech line and they should be able to handle it. After yet another call to the tech line, I was given 2 options: cancel my preorder so they could activate my new SIM card, or receive a free go phone (and a free month of service) for the time being; I chose option 2. The tech supervisor told me he'd set up an appointment for me at 7 pm so I could go right after I got out of work.

I got to the store and lo and behold, they did not have any record of my appointment. While waiting 45 minutes to be helped, I called to the tech department one more time to confirm that they had all of the notes and it would an easy one-two-three out the door setup on the go phone. She said she would have her supervisor call me that same night. The sales associate that helped me could not access the notes without getting her manager involved. Once he stepped to the plate to help, he told me he could give me the phone for free, but had no way of providing me with a free month of service.

The supervisor never called me, so I had to call them again. Finally, I got to speak with someone who stepped to the plate. He provided me with the free month of service on the go phone, got me a $50 bill credit (which I think should have been more) and had my phone not been shipped that same day, he would have found some way to overnight the phone to me.

So, good news, my phone is on its way (however, USPS still doesn't show any info). But, dealing with this company has been nothing but a headache. I probably wasted at least 6 hours of my time calling them multiple times and going back and forth to the store.

Those of you that still have a working phone and are waiting for shipment notifications, it COULD be worse.

Hey all, sorry if this has been said already (I can't keep up with this thread), but here's my experience.

I had a 256GB Jet Black 7 on pre-order from att.com.

I saw zero movement from my original delivery estimate (mid October), so I decided to go the apple.com reservation option. I got a 256GB regular black reserved for retail pickup yesterday. I went in to buy, but could not due to my existing NEXT agreement on an iPhone 6s.

My NEXT agreement was upgrade eligible (I made 12 payments, and when I canceled my JB pre-order from att.com my eligibility to upgrade via NEXT was almost immediately reinstated).

The problem is that Apple will not allow you to buy a new phone on NEXT upgrade if your existing NEXT agreement is not completely paid off. I read that Apple would give you a mailer to send it in to AT&T, but that wasn't the case. The only option I had to buy the phone from the Apple retail store was to buy outright or join the Apple Upgrade program.

I drove over to an AT&T corporate store to see what could be done (such as just turning my 6S in in exchange for them wiping the remaining NEXT installment balance so I could return to Apple to buy the reserved phone), but that was not an option. All AT&T would let me do is pay the existing 6s balance in full, or upgrade to a 7 through them. They didn't have the 256GB black in stock, and I had already canceled my JB pre-order, so I ended up going with the only 256GB model they had in stock or any color or type which was 7 Rose Gold.

So, be careful about using the Apple reservation system, if you're already on a NEXT plan and plan to trade the existing device to upgrade to the new one. You're basically locked into AT&T unless you want to pay the device off.
That's kind of crazy. Had basically the same situation as you but everything went through just fine for me and I walked out of the Apple Store with my new 256gb iPhone 7+ on my At&t Next plan. They even gave me a mailer and a USPS label to return my old phone. I think some stores just don't want to take them time to help people.

Ok, so apparently the Apple Reservation system resets at midnight, but not the inventory.
I checked in my area at 4am and there was not a single 7+ available in the entire state.
And I just checked again, 12 hours later, and there are multiple available, but only in Gold, Silver, and Rose Gold.
But at least it lets me know to check more often.
