Another day, another 24 hours with zero communication from ATT (not to mention their system being down now for 24 hours). Haven't heard a peep from these people since my email shortly after midnight on the 9th. I suppose they have nothing to say to us yet as they inventory their shipments from Apple and start to match them up with orders, but after this experience ordering from the carrier instead of the manufacturer, IMO, ATT is the absolute slowest, and least communicative carrier. They basically tell you "we received your order, but won't communicate with you until it ships. Thank you for ordering with ATT". Won't do it again.

What exactly do you want them to tell you? Everyday you get an email telling you that your order is still in processing? This seems like crazy expectations.

Yeah they are literally the worst of them all. I understand the goal behind under promising and over delivering but you literally have ALL of your customers unsure 3 days before the launch of the phone. Kind of defeats the purpose of a preorder.

Even if they gave out more launch day estimates and there was no communication we'd know that those who didn't receive 16th shipping were probably not going to get it. It is next to impossible that NO Jet Black and Matte Black 7+'s will deliver on launch day yet not a single 7 Plus ordered with Black and Jet Black configurations have that date and never did on their site. All in all very disappointing.

IMO it would be nice to track it all the way from China, not just Dallas. The way Apple allows you track your package seems a lot better. Just a simple update email would suffice.

How are people getting delivery dates? All I ever see on AT&T.com is estimated shipping dates.
Order status:
Preparing to ship
We're getting your order ready to ship. Expect your items to ship during the dates we gave you.
Thank you for placing your order with us.
Delivery by date:
September 16, 2016

Really? When I've ordered with Apple, I pretty much received status updates every day, and almost immediate tracking information. With ATT, it's basically, we'll talk to you again in a week or two. Like I said, I'll not order from a carrier again. They just don't have the system down like Apple and UPS do. My opinion, that's all. If your happy, that's great.

I don't care for the lack of communication. Whatever. That's fine. No communication is better than them telling you your order is canceled. At least this way I know my order is safe. I think AT&T and Apple could do a better job of giving estimates. If my delivery date actually did match my shipping estimate then there would be no need for this discussion or even this thread for that matter. The other carriers aren't perfect but they do a better job of setting expectations.

Samsung sold more phones than Apple in Q4 of last year, yet I had no problems preordering my Samsung phone. It shipped right away and I received it a week before the official launch. They shouldn't even call it a "Preorder." If you receive it weeks after launch, it's a backorder.

The difference is, ATT is saying to us "you'll get you phone when you get your phone, so just sit there and wait for us to get around to you". Apple is more like "we know how excited you are to receive your new iPhone, and we're going to help you track it all along the way, from pickup from the Foxconn factory facilities to which cargo plane it will be flown on to the states, and right to your front door". I know others are happy with just ordering and waiting for the carrier to get around to updating them, but not me. I just paid nearly $1000.00 for a new phone. Yes, I want more information about its shipping and delivery.

It's because they're getting the colors and sizes that are not in high demand.

The high demand at the moment of the pre-order :)

Because right now the Rose Gold 128 GB has more demand than the silver, regular black and gold. It's scheduled for November.

I mean, there is a huge assumption here that Apple allows carriers to receive this type of detailed shipping information that they could pass onto customers. I'm not against having more information, just seems unfair to blame AT&T when you're asking for something they might not be able to provide due to the manufacture.

Thing is no one knows what carriers are allowed to say or for that matter what they know. Apple might not have told them anything. I read on the T mobile thread that the reason 7 Pluses from carriers had no launch day estimates (Black and Jet Black only) is because when preorders went live they had very limited supplies. The system can't check ahead of time and see how many they will get next week as only Apple knows how many are delivered to carriers. The reason nothing has changed is because like us AT&T is waiting for new batches to come from China and then update our orders accordingly.

Let's say when preorders went live AT&T had 5000 Jet Black and Black iPhone 7+'s, and 50000 orders were given. The system saw the demand far surpassed the volume and gave everyone a vague shipping date. Now fast forward next week and AT&T has 100000* iPhone 7+'s in Black and Jet Black. All of a sudden the system is like "oh wait let's update these poor folks who have been waiting".

*Numbers only for representation.

AT&T provided you with a delivery estimate. That's all you can ask for. Stop calling every two minutes. You'll get it when you get it. Sure I'd like my new phone on release day but if I don't get it, my already full life will continue without a hitch.

Yes this would definitely be a better way to treat their customers… But the carriers hands are tied unfortunately. Apple is the king of the hill and until Apple gives AT$T their final allotments… There won't be any updates about shipments. You people are wasting your time waiting for something on the Tuesday. Wednesday is the first moment anybody ever hears about anything changed with shipping date each of the last three years. And the majority hear nothing until Thursday.

What is wrong with some of you people??? Everyone is acting like it is the end of the world because other carriers and Apple have started giving tracking numbers. You are right, they wont communicate with us until it ships, because, guess what?? They have nothing to communicate until it does ship. Would you like hourly updates: "Hey guys, we are still sorting through the phones that just came in, please be patient. As soon as we have more info, you will be the first to get it." And choosing to never preorder through AT&T again bc you still don't have tracking info? Wow. I think that as long as everyone gets their phones on or within the delivery/shipment dates, then AT&T has done their job. If you get it sooner, well then by golly, even better! I know some people are just excited, and anxious, I understand that. But, for others, complaining about it isn't going to get the phone quicker. Take a seat and breathe. If your assigned date comes and still no phone, then complain away!
Sorry, rant over.

From what I've seen, Apple hasn't actually given tracking information to anyone and still has shipping estimates. Apple used order numbers and phone numbers as reference numbers and people found a way to find their orders this way.

If you read the other carrier forums, they're all in the same position as we are.

I love this lol

I'm not sure their hands are THAT tied. They know what inventory Apple has allotted them for Preorder, and these ridiculous "soft, week long shipping windows" are simply a waste of time. The carriers can give us more information than they do, they just choose not to. It's not their product, so they concentrate on their money making data/talk plans, and upselling customers all sorts of extra plan features that most do not need. They won't waste their time on updating people who just bought phones, as they make zero money on iPhone purchases. They make their money selling plans. Once they sold you a plan, you won't hear from them again, unless it's to upsell one of their own products.

My brother works at AT&T. I just text him asking what all they are hearing. He works at one of the customer service centers. I'll reply back when I hear something. I also used to work at the same center, and was there for the iPhone 5 launch and I don't expect he'll have heard too much. But I did ask if anyone has gotten shipping updates or if they expect that tomorrow or Thursday, etc.

I pre ordered the iPhone 7 Plus 128gb black. Shipping estimate is 9/23 to 9/30 like most everyone else.

I just cannot imagine ATT got ZERO black or jet black Plus models since every one in the black colors is 9/23-9/30 ship dates.

They must know something by now as there are only 2 days left to ship to hit launch day.

It's just discouraging they are such a mess internally, and dont make money off updating customer orders so have no incentive to rush.

Meanwhile Apple had shipping info for people from China back on Sunday and is updating statuses constantly on orders. This will be my only and last year ordering from ATT.com.

Only reason I did was I owed 1 Next payment left and couldnt do it through Apple's site at 3am EST so had to through ATT. Next year it will be paid off a month early ready to go for Apple.com like last.

While I understand the intention behind this rant it is easy to take that position when one has a delivery date for their device. Most don't. For a few folks this is the first time preordering an iPhone. There are multiple factors involved here. Some have spent a lot of money on these devices and have every right to ask for more information. Whether they get it or not is not important. Also the angst is towards AT&T or Apple not other members of this community. I couldn't care less if others are getting worked up as long as it isn't directed towards me.
