Is it abnormal to not get any emails about your order? I never got a confirmation email.

I am not the account holder, but I ordered through my own AT&T login. Does that mean the holder may have gotten the email?

There's another thread with this:

Information is coming from a District Manager for corporate AT&T stores in the Northeast.

- AT&T stores will be receiving stock this Weds and Thurs.

- No Jet Black Plus models (5.5") on launch day. But stores will receive very limited qty for iPhone 7 (4.7") JB.

- iPhone 7 (4.7") will be the plentiful (Compatitively). Plus models (5.5") will all be very limited in all colors (Remember, no Jet Black Plus models on launch day)

- Higher performing stores will receive more stock.

- Plus JB models (5.5") are arriving as they come. But no launch day! Expected shipment date to the stores is week of the 19th. All Store Managers are instructed not to hold any stock for anyone. First come, first serve.

- Stores are instructed not to reveal exact numbers but to answer "Limited quanities"

- Only the larger 3rd party authorized stores will receive limited stock. Very very limited (Best Buy, Radio Shack..). All other 3rd party stores may not receive any stock.

- All locations have black out dates for PTO (Personal Time Off) for the next 2 weeks. Stores will be fully staffed.

- Store Managers are expected to be on the floor assisting all employes (More staff on the floor to assist with the busy launch)

- AT&T stores will be opening at 8 AM on Friday.

- All stores are given petty cash to purchase goodies for people who stand in line (Donuts, water, keychains.. etc..)

- The most Senior Managers of the stores will speak to the local media only. No store associates are allowed to speak with the media without permission from Store Manager.

- All employees are not allowed to set aside phones for themselves to purchase when stock arrives. Must order online or wait in line like everyone else (For the employees that don't have to work that day can go stand in line)

sounds about right , hence i have work in that kind of chain.

It's very odd that the Jet Black 7+ is so limited and not likely to be available launch day. Apple had to have known this would be a very popular color. I got silver because I wanted a white bezel so it doesn't really affect me but I can see people getting seriously frustrated who wanted the JB.

Maybe it's just not available in stores on launch day. Since the information was from a district store employee. I'm betting the pre-order delivery inventory is a different animal than iPhone shipments to stores.

Really? When I've ordered with Apple, I pretty much received status updates every day, and almost immediate tracking information. With ATT, it's basically, we'll talk to you again in a week or two. Like I said, I'll not order from a carrier again. They just don't have the system down like Apple and UPS do. My opinion, that's all. If your happy, that's great.

If your phone says "preparing to ship", that is exactly what's going on. You'll likely see no movement until later on this week. AT&T probably already received their shipment of phones and has them stored state side. Hence they will ship out later this week with 1 or 2 day shipping. If you haven't received a status update, its because there is nothing to report. I pre-ordered from both AT&T and Apple, and have seen no difference in the "updates" they provide.

Update email to all waiting....Preparing for shipment

There are worse things in the world going on right now. Just cause you "pre-ordered", means you are entitled to a phone on 9/16? Its entertaining that this many people can complain about one thing and 2 days after they get their phone, they are over it.

This has been going on for 9 years! You should all be used to it already.

Where is the "b*tches complaining about b*tches b*tching" sign when we need it? Complaining about people who are complaining really makes you a winner eh? Pound sand.

I think you should have at least gotten an email. Check with the account holder, I bet he/she got it.

So did we determine that having a charge and then it disappearing from your card was not indicative of an upcoming status update, but rather just a bank feature only allowing a charge to stay posted for a certain length of time?

I'm on a family plan with my sister and she's the account holder. All of the confirmation emails went to her initially and I had her forward them to me. I temporarily changed the contact and billing info to mine so my credit card wouldn't get rejected due to the billing address on the account and so it would be shipped to me.

Well I will say that my bank had a hold expiration date of 10/14. My dropped on the 12th

Is it possible to check the order status via the AT&T app? If so, where?
Login on the app and pull down the menu bar on the top right then click on shop and a new page will come up with a button to check your order status. Whoever built the att app and website needs their ass kicked, it's extremely hard to find anything you actually need and it's not built to handle any kind of pressure. This I say as a web designer myself. With what I pay them a month for all the lines and services I use it would be really nice for them to put some of that into the user experience and less into their commercials and hype... it's wasted there... people know who they are and if they gave them a better experience they might retain more customers and gain new ones through word of mouth instead of hemorrhaging them and trying to gain them back with crappy commercials, "free" but not so free iphones, and bogo ticket tuesdays. Who the hell is going to the movies on tuesdays... and if they are they certainly dont need the free ticket, it's pretty much almost free to go through the week as it is... End Rant. You know who is awesome? Ting. I have 4 children all with iphones (refurbished 5's ;) )on Ting service and I don't restrict their allotment of data or messaging or calls and I haven't had a bill more than 60 bucks which covers all of them. They also provide some of the best customer service i've ever had. If i didn't have so many services already with ATT and wasn't running a business i'd switch myself. ATT has me solely because i've got a couple contracts and for the reliability... however that reliability has been shot to hell over and over again in the last few months and not in anyway related to the iphone drama... They have patronizing, overly happy seemingly-trying-to-be-helpful staff that in the end don't do anything they promise and listen intently before telling you that they need to transfer you to someone higher up. They are very nice at kissing your ass for a moment and then i'm sure they laugh like crazy when they get off the phone and talk about how that credit or that service is never going to actually get added to that account until you call back 50 more times. I actually have charter internet as well as uverse internet because uverse goes out so much and a week ago the technician came out to re-run the line and fix the service yet again and ended up cutting the charter cable in teh process completely shutting down my business for a while until he could "splice" it until i could get Charter to come repair their mistake... .... blah.,.. sorry needed to rant I guess. I feel much better now.

That makes 2 of us then.
I'm just not sure what gives you, or anyone else the right to come in and censor what people can and cannot say? This is a discussion forum. People can chat, vent, rant, make jokes and communicate however else they want as long as it doesn't violate forum rules. I don't understand what you get out of criticizing and/or censoring someone else's right to express themselves. Why are you focused on what OTHER people are doing when it isn't directed toward you? That's what inquiring minds want to know.

I have certainly seen a difference. I prefer the updates and quick tracking assignment that the Apple/UPS system provides. Like I said, I tried the carrier order, and I prefer ordering direct from Apple, as I've always done before this order. It's simply a difference in the customer experience between the two companies. As I said, ATT makes no money on your phone purchase while Apple does. Once ATT has you signed up for more service, they are pretty much done communicating with you. Perhaps Apple as the phones manufacturer feels the need to keep customers up to date as often as possible about their VERY expensive phones. I appreciate your input.

Why are you so fixated on my comments? You just said it, people can rave and rant all they want. I did my rant and that was it. You took it to extremes by typing profanities that are not needed here. Its entertainment for most that people get riled up for a phone that they will bring back in another year and go through this same horrific order process that we have no control over. We done?

you must own an multi billion company then lad, your arse need an schedule.

A professional services business yes. It's a hell of a lot easier to block off a day well in advance than 24 hours before when you have clients coming in, meetings, appointments, etc. already set.

Not asking a lot here, just some info more than 12 hours ahead of time. If date windows are sliding up then move them up so the order status reflects that now, not Thursday at 7pm saying hey be there tomorrow Friday (or Monday or Tues) after all! Versus it still saying Fri 9/23 to Fri 9/30.

If they have NO Plus models other than rose gold and Apple shipped none then ok. But if anyone truly believes they still dont know their inventory still only 48 hours before last moment to ship (Thurs at 4 to 5pm ish) for Friday delivery, that's pretty naive. Or that they got ZERO Plus models except some rose gold for launch day which is equally ridiculous; since the only people who have said the 16th for Pluses are a few rose gold members here.

Just FYI, AT&T is monitoring this thread and the ones who bad mouth them are getting back ordered :D That's the real reason they haven't given anyone tracking numbers!
No, they are too busy doing site maintenance.
I wonder if part of their communication issue is because they are having system errors.
How can they not have their systems ready for their busiest days of the year. Days they had months to prepare for. Truly incompetent. I heard people saying that ATT brought their site down for scheduled matience 2 hours after the preorders began. If that is true, they are worse than I thought. Taking down the system for maintenance two hours into an iPhone preorder morning. Insane.

My estimated shipping just changed from Sept 21 - 29 to Sept 16 - 21 and my status went back to processing, from preparing to ship. Hmmm. Anyone else seeing estimated ship date changes?
Nope. Mines still the same. Congrats on the positive change. What phone did you order?
