I have certainly seen a difference. I prefer the updates and quick tracking assignment that the Apple/UPS system provides. Like I said, I tried the carrier order, and I prefer ordering direct from Apple, as I've always done before this order. It's simply a difference in the customer experience between the two companies. As I said, ATT makes no money on your phone purchase while Apple does. Once ATT has you signed up for more service, they are pretty much done communicating with you. Perhaps Apple as the phones manufacturer feels the need to keep customers up to date as often as possible about their VERY expensive phones. I appreciate your input.

So you'd rather have your phone shipped in from out of the country, just so you can get your tracking number earlier? As opposed to it sitting in a warehouse somewhere in the United States, waiting to get assigned a tracking number?

My estimated shipping just changed from Sept 21 - 29 to Sept 16 - 21 and my status went back to processing, from preparing to ship. Hmmm. Anyone else seeing estimated ship date changes?
System unavailable...LOL
Gotta love ATT. Has any other carrier taken their site offline during preorder? Who would do that? It doesn't seem to be anything other than scheduled maintenance. That is what ATT is officially calling it. Too funny.

You see, I have no idea where my phone is sitting or if it has even been manufactured yet. I'd rather know where my phone is (if it is indeed already manufactured) and when I am expected to receive it. I've sold my 6+ and would like to tell the buyer when they can expect it. right now, I really have no idea. Oh, and these ridiculous one week shipping windows are terribly lame. They don't even give you delivery date estimates. The whole thing pales in comparison to Apple system. Yes, I know, then don't order from a carrier...got it.

is it possible to change order from delivery to just pick it up to store?

Ok, I didn't realize people were getting shipping windows. Mine just says delivery: Sept 16. I ordered midday on Saturday. I was a bit surprised I was still able to get it for delivery on release date.

Yea, a shipping window is annoying, is Apple not giving windows like that?

Most of the shipping windows are for the 7 +, besides the rose gold. You ordered a 7, right?

Apple is giving windows, but people who ordered through them have been able to track their phones using their phone/order numbers as references.

Is it abnormal to not get any emails about your order? I never got a confirmation email.

I am not the account holder, but I ordered through my own AT&T login. Does that mean the holder may have gotten the email?
Yeah that actual account holder will receive an email of the order number, etc.

No. Apple gives delivery dates. I'm happy for you getting your phone on the release date. Enjoyed chatting with you.

Does anyone else have a "Preparing to Ship" status on their AT&T order for the iP7+ 256 GB in Jet Black? What's weird is my shipping estimates aren't until Sept. 30- Oct 7th and my order was placed on 9/9 at 3:00:55 AM EST. Should I even have hope for Friday or Monday? :(

Mine says "preparing to ship" but has a window for delivery of next week.

In my experience ordering through Apple, they've only given me delivery dates, not shipping windows. Apple tells you the shipping window before you purchase and possibly in the confirmation emails (although I have no memory of this). After you purchase, you typically get delivery dates.

I am the same way for my 128gb 7+ JB. I was in the queue starting at 2:47 and finished processing my order at 3:03 AM but my shipping window is Oct 14th-24th. I'm debating whether to go to the store Friday morning or just hope that window is waay off.

Ugh, stupid jet black sold out SO fast. I called AT&T today to ask if I could go to the store on Friday and just try to get a phone there and they said no problem as long as I did not have a tracking number by that date. Then I also read on here, someone met with a district manager for AT&T who said that no AT&T stores will have any iP7+ in JB for any configurations. :( We're stuck...what's the point of waking up at 3 AM and pre-ordering if there are going to be people getting the phone before the ones who pre-ordered?

I asked my friend who works at AT&T and they don't know anything about their inventory or orders. They shows 2-3 weeks of shipment once they opened. Last year it was pretty similar but they did receive most of those first day orders at launch. Im thinking that as long as those orders were made on pre-order day you should be fine receiving it on launch day. I think they receive their inventory wednesday and thiursday.
[doublepost=1473803086][/doublepost]I preordered mine pre-order day and it has a shipping date of october 7th through 14th. Im hoping it comes earlier.

No, they are too busy doing site maintenance.

How can they not have their systems ready for their busiest days of the year. Days they had months to prepare for. Truly incompetent. I heard people saying that ATT brought their site down for scheduled matience 2 hours after the preorders began. If that is true, they are worse than I thought. Taking down the system for maintenance two hours into an iPhone preorder morning. Insane.

The system was showing down for maintenance for 2-4AM eastern time and preorders started at 3AM eastern time. Either that was not maintenance as the message said - it crashed and that was the message used, someone really messed up with their outage control processes and did not have this as a blacked out date for changes, the outage request was in prior to Apple announcing the preorder date and no one canceled the outage, or someone did maintenance without following the outage control procedures. (yes AT&T internal systems have an outage control procedure). Given the early morning hours it makes sense for maintenance....just not on that day.

Concur. Not a bright idea. It's not like they haven't done this before. My feeling is that the carriers just have to tolerate these launches but really have zero interest in them as the phones are not a revenue stream for them, and it sure shows in their attitude. Sloppy, inconsistent, and vague. That about sums up my experience with ordering an iPhone from a carrier. After the "maintenance" debacle on preorder morning, they then go and have a nearly 48 hour, "system update" little more than a day later, one in which even the CS reps say they cannot review your account or do much else until the site comes back up. Honestly, I'd not have believed this if I didn't experience it for myself. Mind boggling ineptness from such a huge company.
