My back camera wasn't working at all, just a black screen, no noise on the front camera though

My back camera pictures are just so inconsistent and noisy. Some come out perfect but you others you zoom in even the slightest and noise appears. It's horrendous. I just expected more not sure if mine is defective or whether I should be worried or not. My fear is I don't get it fixed and it's a hardware problem; on converse I wait until next update and all is well. Ugh hate this predicament

Compare with someone else's 7 or phones in a store.

Right, and Verizon had 0 7 plus's in stock besides the jet black 32 gb

Ugh. Just got this MB 256 last week. Ordered Thursday and received Monday so maybe if it comes to that I won't be completely SOL. Haven't even mailed off my 6S+ yet

@Moore94 and @blaine07 it sucks you're having camera issues as well, but it seems that your issue is very different from what I and others have been discussing here. It would be much better if you started your own thread or commented on one where your specific issue is discussed, so we can focus on resolving our defective iPhones ;)

Meh, it's all related to the same thing; camera. And their seems to be a lot of arguable related issues to camera. So many problems with camera in general they must all be related somehow

Good day

Right, geesh I thought this was a forum to discuss issues, I wouldn't start a forum about my issue as mine has been fixed, good luck to the rest of you, see you iPhone 8 time ✌✌️

It was is well lit in my living room though? Hoping updates straighten camera app out though.

Yea the dim lightning kills the 7's camera. The 6 was even worse but still an issue for the 7. You just have to focus on the area to get the best pic usually I've found the skin is the best.

My back camera kept flipping out and freezing on iOS 10.2 beta, so I restored to 10.1.1 and it hasn't frozen since.

Many moons ago, I used an app called ProCam on my iPhone 6 so I could record 4K video. I received my iPhone 7 Plus yesterday, and found that the camera was faulty out of the box. When I opened the camera app, all I got was a black screen unless I wanted to take a selfie, slo-mo video, or a panorama.

I installed the ProCam app again, and it worked! At the top of the screen, it gave me the option to switch to the telephoto lens. When I do this, the app throws a wobbly and eventually crashes out.

At least I have a camera that works now. Apple cant replace my phone for at least 4 weeks!

Go my initial 7+ plus replaced from apple for this, after 5 days. Opening camera app and the screen was black/grey/blurred. Closing the app 3/4 times or rebooting phone would usually fix it

Glad you got yours replaced. Finally got an appointment for next Tuesday to get mine swapped. I'm not as lucky, as reboots do nothing to help solve the issue.

I wonder if the iOS 10.2 beta will solve the camera issue? Would save me a 90 mile round trip to the Apple Store, and the beta currently runs perfectly on my iPad Pro.

Has anyone tried the iOS beta on their 7 plus?

There's an entire iOS 10 discussion board with many threads discussing betas, bugs, etc.

I had what seemed like a faulty camera, but I DFU restored my iPhone 7 Plus to 10.1.1 and the issue went away immediately. Then I updated to 10.2 beta 3 again and it's still working.

Happened to me one time when I first had the phone blacked out powered off and no more issue

Happened me to yesterday, in my iPhone 7 with 10.1.1 software installed.
Powered off and on again hard reset and it's fixed.

Hopefully it doesn't keep happening otherwise will need to book an Apple appointment.

Got my iPhone 7 Plus exchanged today due to the camera freezing constantly. It happened on 10.1.1 as well as 10.2 betas.

I got a new iPhone 7 running 10.0.2 and I've noticed that now and then when I open the camera app the screen is very dark. If I power off and on (not hard reset), the camera works normally again.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware defect/bug or an iOS 10 bug?

Anyone else experience this?

UPDATE: iPhone 7 running iOS 10.1.1
I have followed all the troubleshooting steps that Apple has instructed me to and this issue still persists!

The issue is as follows when you open the camera app:
- the screen is black/almost black/blurry
- switching between the front and back facing cameras makes no difference
- the yellow square (auto-focus) flickers rapidly and sometimes pulses slowly
- the issue happens in an unpredictable way. You can't make it happen on demand.
- you cannot take a photo when the issue presents itself

Very temporary solution:
- Switch to "video" and back to "photo" mode
- Sometimes powering on/off can help
- Sometimes force restarting can help

Troubleshooting steps you've done:
- On iPhone: "Reset All Settings"
- On iPhone: "Erase All Content and Settings"
- On iTunes: Restore iPhone and setup as new
- On iTunes: Restore iPhone (Recovery mode) and setup as new
- Do not restore from an iCloud or iTunes backup!

IF you have completed the troubleshooting steps outlined above
AND you have the camera issue as I've described above

CONTACT APPLE SUPPORT AND GET THEM TO ESCALATE THIS TO THE ENGINEERING TEAM!
