The animation and lag issues are completely different. Nothing helps the animation issue as of yet, but the lag that some people are experiencing is definitely helped by Reset All Settings. Not to be confused with Restoring your phone. In the case of Reset All Settings no information is deleted and all settings are returned to factory default. This is a great fix for most of the issues people experience when restoring to a new device.

I mistook reset all settings as erase all content and settings, my bad on that. Not that big of a deal to reset settings.

Also, if you read my entire post I clearly state that nothing fixes the animation glitch....not sure why you're pointing it out to me. This thread is about animation issues, not lag. Not sure why people are bringing general OS lag into this discussion...it will only confuse people coming to the thread.

I didn't experience any of the animation delay but today while changing some setting i turned off Accessibility shortcut for triple click home button, and i see huge difference in closing and opening app animation and app switcher is much faster, any one else tried this?

I believe this is off by default, so that won't help many people.

I hope this get fixed soon cuz I'll be getting my new 7plus in two weeks

Don't count on it. You're going to have to wait until at least 10.2 to see a fix for that.

I didn't see any difference here.

Is this caused by the CPU switching from slow cores to fast cores?

Not at all. It's not a stutter, it's a completely different animation from all other iOS devices. It has to do with the iPhone 7 responding faster to a click. It doesn't wait for a second click to start the animation, it will switch animations if it's interrupted with a second click. All other iOS devices do not do this (they wait for the second click before doing anything).

Ok, makes sense now, should be an easy fix for Apple. It is an annoying issue on our lovely new iPhones.

Agreed, definitely is annoying on an otherwise excellent iPhone. Really not that big a deal but still bugs me lol

Yeah. It's not a big deal but it gives me that uneasy feeling every time I see it. It feels disconnected, especially since the opening animation is so smooth

Interesting. I've always had this off, but I just turned it on to see if using assistive touch rather than the home button would produce the same effect when opening the app switcher. It still jumps up, however if you use assistive touch and then go to device, more, and then multitasking, it's completely flawless…every time. The closing animation is also completely flawless when using the home button with an assistive touch as well.
[doublepost=1476302125][/doublepost]Accessibility, home button, slow - this also changes the app switcher animation back to flawless. It does obviously slow down the app closing animation...but much less annoying for now than the jumping app switcher.

I've tested assistive touch and the animation to the home screen is the same as before.

Whoops, you're right...it's just slower with assistave touch on, as I suppose the system is waiting to see if you press the home button for a third time. I've also noticed the app switcher 'jump' goes away, even if the assistave touch is OFF, but still selected as the accessibility shortcut option. The minute you turn it off, or uncheck the option, it goes right back to jumpy.

I did notice it and it's a huge difference. I had the magnifier before.

[doublepost=1474259802][/doublepost]I noticed two things. When you set the home button click-speed to slow, the app switcher works normal. In standard mode when you double press the home button while you are in an app, the iphone things after the first press, you want to close the app and start the closing animation. Directly after that, the iphone register the second press and stop the closing animation and go into the app switcher...
I think xeio is really onto something here. I played around a lot with the app switcher with the home button speed going between default and slow. Not only does this correct the jumpiness using the switcher, but it also resolves something I have not seen anyone mention in this thread. I'm including a video to show what I mean, but for app that are natively landscape, many games for example, there is a huge animation glitch that was not on the 6/6s. When you put the home button speed on slow, this is eliminated on the 7.

The open/close animation is still messed up unless you turn on reduced motion, I sure hope they fix this soon. Is what I found on my video worth reporting?

Good catch! I really hope they can work this out. I would enjoy my iPhone 7 a lot more if they just used the same animations as the iPhone 6s and below.

Yes! Huge difference here as well. I've had lag in the animations all along. 10.1 b3 seemed to help a lot...but yet there was still some "slight" lag. Like just about perfect.

I remembered I had recently had magnifier set to on.
Went into settings turned it off and wow, much MUCH better!
Thx so much for posting what u found! So happy!:)

Everything that has to do with LAG between "click" and animation is GONE when you disable triple-click-gestures. Thank you for your help!
But the ANIMATION ISSUE isn't solved. By the way: Funny now I got the JUMPING multitasking

But I can also recommend to disable all triple-click-gestures. Improves UI a lot!

Turning off triple click home button does improve things a lot. Doesn't fix animation but feels faster overall

E.g.
To invert colors while reading in the dark

Wow, just installed to iOS 10.1 beta 3.

After wiping all the settings it seems so much faster and fluid.

Closing animation can still be a bit choppy but it's much better than on 10.0.2.

I just hope this beta is stable enough as a daily driver.
