It still has stutter with the triple click shortcut turned on; however it does improve the speed of closing apps and using the home button for sure.

Strange thing is. Using the software button on any other iOS device uses the old animation still, not the new 7/7+ animation. I think it's a feature, but I think they need to fine-tune it a bit.

I bet we'll see a lot of improvements in 10.2.

Basically 10.1 is only about the new portrait feature.
I'll also note that using 3D Touch to open the app switcher from the right side of the screen, also shows the correct animation.

Agreed. I've found the app switcher to perform much better with accessibility settings for the home button set to 'slow'. The only trade off with this, is that exiting apps is alittle slower, but that annoying jump with the wallpaper zoom out is no longer present when you change the double click speed. I can't believe this hasn't been sorted out in 10.1. Even the demo units at the Apple Store look ridiculous when you enter the app switcher. It just looks flat out BAD.

Stuttering when closing apps is still present. Maybe a little bit more refined, lol.
I think apple has to change the complete animation for opening and closing apps and going into the app switcher. The current animations dont work together with the new home button, due to the speed.
Im not happy to say, but i think ios11 will finally fix it...

YOU NEED TO OFF UR TRIPLE HOME BUTTON CLICK! DAMN! Its because of that ip7/7+ have stutter animation..
Someone told in the youtube. And now my ip7 snappy again... Try it! :D

Guided access is off by default so it's not even on for me and there is still lag. Even after turning it on to test it, it still doesn't make the animations any worse that what they already are compared to having guided access turned off.

Downloaded 10.1 to my iPhone 7 today. Really disappointed to see the stuttering is still there when entering the app switcher. How could this be so complicated to fix? It's ridiculous.

I think things are really going to change in 10.2.

10.1 was really about portrait mode

Exactly like the last guy said, its a disgrace apple hasnt fixed it, the whole idea of a £900 phone is to make it faster not slower, so many betas and nothing its not good enough by now it should be butter smooth and for all the fools saying its a feature they know nothing, a jailbreak can make iphone so fast so why not ios just have turn animation off even refuce motion is clitched and doesnt work with it on, useless

Except that option is off by default so can't turn it off and I still have the "issue".

Ok so I followed this tip from a Reddit post from iPhone subreddit and try this:

Go to General<Accessibility<Accessibility Shortcut

Even if it is turned off for you, turn on everything in that menu then turn it all back off.

I swear it makes a difference in the app closing animation despite it being "off" originally. So toggling on the accessbility shortcuts and toggling them back off has actually made it slightly faster with the animation..seriously, try it

The Reddit post if anyone is interested

Let me know what you guys think...I honestly feel like it did make a slight improvement doing this.

Did nothing for me, turned these shortcuts on and off and still the same delayed animation when going from an app back to the home screen via the home button.

10.2 beta out. Any improvements to the app close animation and general slow choppy animations such as scrolling through the app switcher?

10.2 feels exactly the same

That doesn't suprise me. They said it was fixed in those beta descussion threads since 10.1 beta 2 and they always have people saying "omg it's so fast and smooth now" every beta when that's never the case. So I always take their word with a pinch of salt.

It DID improve with 10.1, but they only fixed the missing frames. The animation still looks disjointed.

Why would anyone say 10.2 is different if it wasn't?

I don't know ask SumYoungGai who claims it's fixed https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...changes-bugs-and-fixes.2011325/#post-23834519

When VSMacOne (and others) claims it's not https://forums.macrumors.com/thread...s-bugs-and-fixes.2011325/page-4#post-23835012

I know 10.1 slightly improved but definately not fixed.

That's disappointing. I tend to believe someone like VSMacOne because he details exactly what he's seeing whereas SumYoungGai just said it was smooth.
