My Orzly Flexicase arrived yesterday (gotta love same-day shipping) and it looks fine, no branding on it which is unusual.

Anyway, now I am having a flip-flop mind about wanting the Plus and then wondering if it's too big. I have grown accustomed to using my phone with one hand, which I don't think will be possible with the Plus.

I keep telling myself I want the bigger screen and better camera, and that I will adjust....
Best decision I've made re iPhones. The bigger screen makes everything so much better. You get used to it quickly.

The only time when I use it one handed is if I scroll on a webpage, otherwise typing on a big screen with one hand is not very comfortable. One of the reasons why I switched back to the regular was that like you said the big screen is great but it's literally way too big now that I'm a year in with a 6s plus.

It sucks that neither of my local stores have had any black or jet black phones available in the plus at any capacity according to that!

I couldn't agree more that the system needs to be improved, but why do iUP customers deserve special stock?

PS Thanks for the spam tip, that's where it was.

Well not so much special stock, more of a guaranteed reservation. Think about it: Apple know exactly how many iUP customers they have, an exact figure. All of those people are in that program because they want a new iPhone every year. So Apple should give these customers the ability to choose a configuration before pre-orders open, and then be automatically reserved a device. That's what this program should be about, a seamless, simple and convenient way of getting a new iPhone every year. But that's the opposite of what it's been this year.

Those charts show how rare the plus models are. I'm baffled as to why they have such a small amount of stock? The only real difference is the dual camera module surely?

They obviously have loads of stock seeing as they are launching in more countries straight away!! I guess we are paying the price for a money man taking the helm at Apple.

It would be interesting what they'd do if someone came out and rivalled them, dedicated phone and OS and stellar customer service, but cheaper. Would apple continue on stubbornly or would they be forced to change their ways?

So they can support the needs of the Americans. I can only assume Apple made false commitments to us all so that we end up pre ordering from them rather than resorting to buying from scalpers. I consider this one of the worst Apple launches that I have experienced. Sure, the pre order process worked smoothly for me, but they cannot commit a launch date delivery for the most of us, who on this forum, represent the community that got their orders in the moment the store went live. Despite that we get slapped with late delivery dates. The average Joe will suffer even more from this. The late delivery times will only put people off buying their iPhones so early on.

How does this get its information? As in, how soon after a device becoming available will this show that?

I'm beginning to think I'm out of luck here. My local store has never had my configuration in stock.
It updates every minute.

I'm not sure I didn't make it but I think it polls the requests and scrapes the data so that if it is available then it will be up so I guess around a 15-30 second response time? The models last for anywhere between 4-20 minutes with stores varying.

Probably to make the item look 'in demand'. Marketing more then likely.
They take a calculated risk that people will wait and creating a wants wants wants scenario.

I thought i saw something where that ming guy said the plus models will be limited at launch due to yield rates.

Luckily got my plus in at launch so should have it by 27-29th Sept if not earlier.

To be honest im not in a rush to have it this year as I have been previous years as going from a 6S plus i wont see massive leap in terms of feel and usability.

Just imagine how bad it might get when the crowds queuing up for ages find out that they won't be getting anything.

Some clarification regarding the iPhone Upgrade Programme reservations and being able to switch to paying in full up front.

The FAQ you get once a reservation is made reads:
Can I change the iPhone Upgrade Programme to a different purchase option?

Yes, check with one of our Specialists for other purchase options available.

Additionally I called Apple and here is a transcript of the response:
Customer support: "Yes, just let them know in-store that you want to pay up front instead and they will be happy to do that for you."

Me: "Really? So I won't lose my reservation or anything? I won't have to choose an in-stock model?"

Customer support: "No, you are under no obligation to sign up to the iPhone Upgrade Programme and your iPhone is waiting for you anyway."

...which all makes me very happy!

By 'stock is shared' do you mean that every Apple Store is going to show the same availability but phones will get dispatched to different locations depending where the reservations were made? Cause I am seeing different configurations of availability for different stores.
Nope, I mean a store has a allocation of stock for customers.

It doesn't matter if you're paying online for a reservation (new this year!) or if you're reserving via the iPP program, or just a standard reservation (which will be available from 6am Saturday) - it all comes out of the same pool of phones, so you are guaranteed what you reserve

At least that's the current working theory based on availability data. That could change this week if people start getting shipment notifications for the in store reservations with unique tracking numbers - my theory is we'll see anyone who paid online go to "ready for pickup at pickup time" rather than a shipment notification.

within 60 seconds, or sooner at interesting times (like 6:46am!)

Thanks Brookzy. I know some people were getting irritated with me yesterday when I was trying to tell them this was the case :)

Yeah I remember seeing that too. It seems barmy that the two new colours that get all the coverage at the event are nowhere to be seen. Like @bronksy said, clever marketing? Or just really difficult to make and they're struggling to make up the numbers?

The real scandal here is that other retailers and carriers have been claiming to have launch day stock.

Either way come Friday, people are either gunna be pissed that Apple gave all the stock to other retailers, or all these people who bought from the other retailers and carriers are gunna be pissed that they were told they'd be getting a phone on Friday!
