I haven't been fully keeping track on the thread, but my impression is that most of the Apple-direct preorders posted here that have moved up from 27-29 Sept to 20-22 Sept were either Black or Jet Black, and mostly Plus phones?

We'll likely never know if it was high demand or low supply. I expect that when the un/official figures eventually filter out there'll have been a far bigger ratio of Plus vs Standard orders for the 7 than previously, relative to the 6 & 6S, which you'd expect as people get used to the idea & the dual-cameras may have accelerated this.
Apple are not releasing sales figures for the opening weekend this year so it maybe a while. At best we will get some rough estimates.

Ive just checked and mines now changed to 20-22nd black iphone 7+ so looks like next week a load of blacks are coming in which should get distributed to Apple stores and our homes

I too can vouch for the recent expedition of orders. I ordered the 7+ 256GB black. Received email confirmation at 0815. It's been Sep 27-29 until around 1630 today when it updated to Sep 20-22.

Have been following this thread since the 16th.

Got my confirmation order for a JB 128GB 7+ and the same in black at 8:08am.

The JB has had a dispatch date of 4-10th October and the Black is 20-22nd September. Dates have never changed, quite annoying the Black isn't a launch delivery :( Likewise annoyed there was no store pick up option for me this year (Trinity Leeds).

Oh well, less than a week to go!

So those looking to get a black 7+ start looking from Sunday and Monday 6am as you might get one from the apple store if your delivery dates are October.

Just found out that changing the delivery address can indeed change the dates for the worst. I'm on 20-22 delivery but changing to central London will push it up to 10-12 October.. so I'll take my chances!

Lol, I'm in Central London and changing my delivery date actually moved it up to 20th-22nd Sept. I'm getting it delivered to Covent Garden (funny since an Apple Store is there too), doesn't get more central than that!

I'm normally pretty excited about getting my new iPhone, but for some reason this time it's just not really happening for me. Yes, I'm still looking forward to it, it'll be nice upgrade from my current 6, but I'm just not as "stoked" about it as usual.

I deliberated about going up to a Plus this time, but eventually decided to stay with the standard 7. (I currently have a pre-order for a 128GB Black 7 for collection in-store tomorrow morning.)

It's bothered me all week that I might have made the wrong choice, and should have opted for the Plus. I've almost placed an order for one several times this week just to see how the delivery dates panned out. Might still be tempted, and if the normal 7 doesn't do it for me, it can go back within 14 days and I'll just wait for the Plus to arrive.

And yes, I know this all probably sounds really selfish and self-centered, particularly given the poor supply that there is this year.

So...

For those of us that are getting our phones In the 20-22nd date range, that would appear to have been Apples plan all along.

6 to 8 business days from last Friday would in fact be next Tuesday or Wednesday...

I too live in Central London. Changing the delivery address for me didn't change anything this morning. It stayed at 27-29 Sep estimate. It has since changed at about 1630 to a 20-22 estimate. It's a 7+ black 256GB.

Cool, looks like the black pluses are the next batch. Everyone knows the black 128GB (or even 256GB) is where it's at. I currently own the 6 Plus 16GB model - the sheer thought of being able to have 128GB with the new features from the 6S Plus and 7 Plus make me very excited! Already have three cases too :)

I ask again, anyone who's reserved the iPhone 7 for pickup had any notification or email yet? Mine's still on "Processing Items".

I'd guess we'll either get a notification later tonight or early tomorrow morning.

Mine is the same. Phoned Apple this morning and the guy said that they'd take payment and we'd receive Ready for Pickup emails "by close of business" tonight.

Don't panic if you don't get that until tomorrow morning :) I promise it'll be okay!

As I understand it, here's how this bit works:
A big label printer in each Apple Store will print off a nice big sticker with your name and order number on and the item you've reserved.
Someone at the store (probably part of the team setting up overnight for the launch!) will take that label, scan the product, the label, then stick it on.
At that point, you get the ready to collect email.

Just picked up my storm grey 7plus leather case from the Apple Store.. she didn't want to give it to me as she reckons they're not on sale yet.. my confirmation and pick up email said otherwise though!

Any ideas how it works for the standard, non-paid reservations?

That actually makes sense. We haven't been given a specific model yet, just one from the batch each store gets.

If I haven't received an email by tomorrow morning, I'll still go of course and show them my reservation in the app.

Im chuffed im getting an iPhone 7 but really wanted to get rid of the 6S plus first but with all the drama with Mazuma and then Apple having to send it off for reapir rather than doing an in house repair i dont think i want to use the 7 untill i know i have sold my 6S plus.

Keep trying to track my repair and it says service requested yesterday. Dont know when Apple will be sending it

Yup! No stickers for that, but a bunch of the tables at a sensible place in your store (either at the genius bar, or another place where they can easily fence it off with security guards!) and they'll have stacks of each phone they have stock off. There's enough for every reservation and every walk-in business card which is stickered with a SKU (and to be honest, they might well not bother stickering the paid ones, and just grab it!)

You'll be assigned to a staff member when you enter the store, and they'll get you going on their POS device (the funky rectangle with a barcode scanner on the top and an iPhone/iPod Touch inside it). At some point in the process, they'll scan the QR code on your email (for reservations) and then send a notification to someone else's POS device who will grab your phone and deliver it to whichever table your Apple Store employee is sat at. They have a little dropdown where they have to pick the table they want it delivered too.

It's a very efficient process :)

Yeh exactly! They might well not even stick the sticker onto an iPhone so they don't have to bother finding your exact phone and can just get you one from the pile. It's all stock controlled so they isn't any risk of them selling more phones than they have in their piles :)

I do love the atmosphere of an Apple Store at 8am on a launch day. Especially now we have reservations and there isn't a fear of not getting a phone in a long queue.
