Update on my end.

I just got an email from Apple, confirming my change of payment.

I assume although I did it yesterday at like 5:00, their systems haven't even registered it until now.
So fingers crossed in the next couple of hours it tries to re-attempt payment...

I got that email yesterday about 10 minutes after updating payment method. Still been no attempt to take payment again so far.

If I order a nike watch using the app and pay with apple pay does it only take the money when they are dispatched? Do I need the full money in my account now?
Well that's what I would have said in previous years but this year they seem to be taking the money earlier. My 7 plus don't dispatch until Thursday this week yet they took the money on Friday last week.

very annoying that the online way you can currently get IUP is in store.
So yesterday they said that if you bought in full you could swap to IUP at any time in the next 14 days. I'm wondering now if that would have applied to delivered items or paid for in full reservations (mine is currently paid for in full after I gave up after 4 hours there yesterday).

My order went into preparing to dispatch yesterday (20th-23rd). Checked with my bank and the payment is finally coming up as pending. Bank has reassured me the payment has been approved and just waiting for apple to take the money.

Now the wait!

I wondered if someone would say that. I did get like 3 through all at once. It's probably just an error with sending my notifications from apple then.

That's my concern. Will wait until thursday when I get paid just in case.

Or maybe they're people who want to do the IUP and have to do so in store?

Possibly but again just because someone can't get a phone NOW doesnt make the release a shambles or a disaster. Of course things go wrong with payment systems or credit checks but that's life unfortunately. There will be 1000's of satisfied customers who have what they want and don't read this forum or don't come here to gloat.

Not sure why you're defending apple here.

People are allowed bad experiences. Most people left on the forum thread aren't complaining because they don't have their phone now.

They're complaining because of, lack of communication, confusion, apple pay errors, email errors, stock errors & more.

They have the right to complain as much as they want. It's a phone that's nearly a grand, they deserve an absolutely smooth journey when paying so much.

And there are also many on here who being impatient make multiple orders which then deprives others of an order .... maybe the problem rests more with the multiple orders than with Apple !

Because Im stupid I didn't check opening timings for Meadowhall before I headed there so I'm here now and was offered this bit of info by both security and the store manager whom I spoke with (through the shutters of course)

Demand was insane yesterday, 100+ walk ins were turned away. Reason why there weren't any reservations for Meadowhall this morning was simply due the demand yesterday and they're sorta "catching up" on reservations for yesterday.

Reservations for Meadowhall will go live again at 6am tomorrow.
interesting how this contradicts what they just told me. black 128GB reserved!

I'm not defending Apple or saying that people can't complain ..... just having a pop at the petulant children who bleat because they can't get what they want RIGHT NOW !! :)

I know it's some 12 months away now but I hope all across the board Apple and the mobile phone companies handle iPhone 8 (or whatever it's called by then) much, much better.

Granted there are more important things in life to worry about but I've seen more comments of dismay and of people being told this, that and the other.

Doesn't provide for great customer service, does it?

I suppose it seems "worse" this year as people with an iPhone 6/6 Plus will be able to upgrade their 24 month agreements too.

I think you missed them about 4 days ago...

Most of the people left now have had genuine issues with Apples Systems.

Because I deal with Apple Business and there is a fresh batch arriving.

I honestly think Apple had planned a 23rd launch date which would have meant plenty of stock in all colours and sizes, but pulled it a week earlier to gain an advantage over Samsung and the Note 7 saga. Nothing wrong about this either, just a good business tactic to gain extra sales. And IMO this move did work.

By the end of next week, most of us will have the phone we wanted.
Yeah that sounds like a good thesis to me. I think it was a last minute decision by their analysts to launch in the 16th to get a jump on Samsung and gain market share. Sound move by Apple because they know that we have nowhere else to go except wait for our committed purchases

Why is it a shambles ? Just because YOU can't get the iPhone you want ?

Well 55% of people want the plus, and 67% of people want a black one (black and jet black combined). When the models that are going to be the most popular have extremely limited or no availability then they should have been more open with people to begin with. Calling it a shambles might be an over-reaction but the people who are most frustrated are the people who upgrade far more often than their typical customer.

I've bought every iPhone since the iPhone 4, I can't get the model I want, I would have been a lot happier about it if they had been up front and said Black iPhone 7 Plus won't be available at launch on the IUP.

I can confirm that. I wanted a Gold 7+ 128GB from Milton Keynes (which I got) but only the silver 7+ was greyed out. Weird, because @lgladdy's tracker shows that only Gold was available in 7+ at the MK store this morning...

That was the first store I checked and I couldn't see any black pluses in any configuration available

i agree with this, I think the original release should have been this coming Friday which would have made more sense. Seems weird they did pre orders 2 days after the keynote.

Still no progress on my order :(

The shambles continues. I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to guarantee a phone on launch day if getting an order in 8 minutes after they go live isn't sufficient (not mentioning the fact that the store wasn't really live until a few minutes after 8.01).

Jet Black 128GB 7... STILL stuck on processing.

Some of you will defend Apple, but I wager that's because you were lucky enough to get the phone you wanted on "launch day".

I completely agree with the poster above. The launch day was supposed to be the 23rd, but they pushed it forward a week to twist the knife in on Samsung. I'm sure the stock levels by next Friday will be comparable to previous launches, but they sure weren't yesterday.

I look forward to Apple's traditional feedback request once this debacle is over.
