Odd. When I went into JL at the stroke of opening yesterday they won't into their systems and said there were no 7 pluses anywhere in the JL network, let alone any in black.

They lied or didn't have access to their online stock. At 8am they had 8 JB 128gb pluses in stock

I've mentioned this a few times without much takeup.

I think it's ok to place a second online order & cancel the first (before it despatches) if you can get a better ETA.

Getting a phone 'to have a play with' or 'help make your mind up' & then return is disgraceful.
I wouldn't have gone to all the trouble of ordering the phone and then waiting in for it to be delivered if I didn't have the intention of keeping it. I did place 3 orders for my 128GB rose gold 128GB 7 plus but that was mainly due to confusion with the in store pick up process as in previous years you just made a reservation. This year the upgrade programme confused me that early in the morning. I wasn't sure if I would be around on launch day to have it delivered and was expecting an all day event with UPS. I cancelled both in store orders last Friday and stuck with my home delivery. I'll be keeping my 7 plus. There isn't any reason for me not too. I have the money to buy it outright. I'm a long term iPhone user and it's better than my 6S plus. So it was a no brainier order. Also after seeing the mayhem of the stores yesterday and the palavah I went through to get my phone set up yesterday I won't bother trying to exchange it for 256GB. That can be an incentive to upgrade next year along with any new features.

I actually think I don't take advantage of returns policies enough. I pretty much knew that I wasn't going to keep my S7 edge for long after the first day but I didn't return it.

However the policy is there and people should feel free to use it if they want to.

Because Im stupid I didn't check opening timings for Meadowhall before I headed there so I'm here now and was offered this bit of info by both security and the store manager whom I spoke with (through the shutters of course)

Demand was insane yesterday, 100+ walk ins were turned away. Reason why there weren't any reservations for Meadowhall this morning was simply due the demand yesterday and they're sorta "catching up" on reservations for yesterday.

Reservations for Meadowhall will go live again at 6am tomorrow.

I was there yesterday and there was still a queue when I arrived at 7pm and left at 8pm. Yikes.

The only thing I can think is maybe some people are behind caches, or their browser is caching an old version of the availability data. I make sure i'm not getting cached data, and was loading it every few seconds this morning so we could see how quickly things sold out.

Unless someone wants to show us a reservation of a black or a jet black iPhone Plus, i'm going to stand by saying there was zero stock of either today, anywhere in the UK (from 6am to now)

Apple helpfully provide the data as one big blob which I process after i've captured it, so it's not like i'm checking each store and each model. I get the exact same snapshot of data that powers the reservation site.

The site went live between 06:01:03 and 06:01:16.

It's stupidly long, but here's the raw data.

Any chance you could share how you request that data? Or is it like the secret sauce recipe by KFC :)

On another note....due to mine being delayed, my Envirofone offer for my 6S plus was for 14 days - and that was over a week ago........anyone had any success into talking them into extending the offer for another 10 days??
I got an email yesterday and it said they can extend it for 7 days. Have a check to see it they sent you the same thing

From what I was told by the business section the black/jet blacks in Plus will arrive in next week , so really pointless checking until at least Tuesday .

Were Apple just trying to capitalise on the Note 7's recall through the release date even though they didn't actually have much if any stock in what they must have known was likely to be the most popular colour.

Just call in any store, they give you cash there and then
wasn't hoping for a new phone today as they didn't have any meadowhall reservations at 6am, so i didn't bring my box and cables etc (hoping to be Graded A)

but lo and behold reservations for meadowhall opened at 8-ish and managed to snag a 128GB 7 Black :)

This process so far has been so painful!

I've been on holiday for the last 3 weeks and got back a couple days ago. Couldn't access the UK Apple site while I was away to preorder anything. Then my 6S plus was stolen while I was away, my insurance only covered me to get the same phone so I've picked another up from the Apple Store and now desperately trying to get a 7 plus in 2 weeks so I can return this.

Ordered on carphone warehouse yesterday when it said free next day delivery and it turned out to be false advertising.

I'm kind of annoyed they've made the 7 plus distinctly better than the 7 as it's probably what's driving so much demand for it. Last year I called my local Apple Store in the afternoon and rocked up about 8/9pm and just bought the phone...simpler times!

I'm not defending Apple or saying that people can't complain ..... just having a pop at the petulant children who bleat because they can't get what they want RIGHT NOW !! :)

I am complaining because Apple over-promised and under-delivered as I would with any company that did the same. Not quite sure why you're so keen to bend over backwards to defend them on this and then insult anyone who disagrees with by insinuating they are petulant and a child.

Definitely lied or didn't have correct info! I ordered a JB 128 plus yesterday afternoon (when 5 suddenly showed in stock) and am collecting very soon!

Separately I just sold my 6S to CPW in store. Very easy and they refund cash to debit card there and then. Got £400 for my 128GB 6S which whilst not as much as I had from envirofone (£425) saves hassle/cost of posting and waiting.

The shambles continues. I'm not really sure what I'm supposed to guarantee a phone on launch day if getting an order in 8 minutes after they go live isn't sufficient (not mentioning the fact that the store wasn't really live until a few minutes after 8.01).

Jet Black 128GB 7... STILL stuck on processing.

Some of you will defend Apple, but I wager that's because you were lucky enough to get the phone you wanted on "launch day".

I completely agree with the poster above. The launch day was supposed to be the 23rd, but they pushed it forward a week to twist the knife in on Samsung. I'm sure the stock levels by next Friday will be comparable to previous launches, but they sure weren't yesterday.

I look forward to Apple's traditional feedback request once this debacle is over.
exact same position, order email came in at 8.09 and stuck on processing with delivery 26-03 :(

I'm not complaining about not having it on release though, I'm complaining that Apple weren't more open on how limited the availability would be. I took time off work on pre-order day to pre-order the phone I wanted only to find out when I eventually got in there was never any stock to reserve in the first place! I was up at 6am this morning to have another go, and again was never any stock to begin with in the model I want.

I understand there are stock problems, I have no complaints at all about that. What I'm not thrilled about is going out of my way to try and get one when there is literally zero available. Just tell me there aren't any and no need to waste my time. As it is I need to get up early every day to check at 6am for however long it might be. If they said there won't be any stock until X to reserve that would save people a lot of wasted time and changing their plans.

Understand what you say .... but what you consider to be limited and what Apple consider to be limited are miles apart and everyone's expectations are different. Is limited not being able to get it on launch day or is limited not being able tio get one within 2 weeks ? Different people will have different ideas. Availability will differ by region, country, store etc so do you really expect them to be providing updates of what's available and where just so it fits in with peoples lives ? We are talking about worldwide distribution here which taking all things into account has probably gone very smoothly.

As for you deciding to take time off work unfortunately with respect that's not Apples problem.

Do Carphone warehouse test the phone? How long from handing in to them aproving phone before paying?

What ID do they need and do they need box etc?

Thanks

Hi everyone,

After lurking on this forum to stalk the 6 launch, the 6s launch and then returning this year and reading every page of this thread since last week, I thought it was about time I signed up!

I initially ordered a JB 7+ 256GB with Three that said it would come on the 16th, then after speaking to my Mum who witnessed my annoyance with not properly being able to handle the 6+ back in 2014 to the point where I sold it and bought the normal 6, I decided to get the regular 7. Three wouldn't allow me to cancel my order and said I would have to wait for it to arrive and then send it back for an exchange which was an annoying headache but I willed myself to stay patient and do just that. While waiting this past week I started to hear bad things about Three's reception and more and more about the JB iPhone and scratches and really started regretting my purchase.

Yesterday I was on my way to work and walked in to CPW on the off chance they could give me any words of wisdom. They couldn't do anything about my Three order but they did have the Matte Black iPhone 7 256GB in stock which was the exact phone I now wanted, so
I snapped it up on Vodafone, ran to the Apple Store and bought a case and now I'm here typing to you all on it now!

I know it's annoying waiting so I'm wishing you all luck on getting your chosen iPhones ASAP :)

When I traded in my Galaxy s3 a few years ago instore, they put the money onto my bank card, I think it may help if you have the box, but don't know if essential

First world problems!

Look this is the first iPhone I've not had on launch day. However at the keynote it was obvious the 128gb in black was going to be the most popular.

But waiting until the 20th is hardly a big issue. It's not like my 6+ isn't still serving me well.
If Apple did move the launch forward, that would explain the shortage. But the popularity of the iPhone, especially 128gb plus model in black remains strong.

Can we please ban the use of the phrase "first world problems"? - it seems pretty redundant on a forum about a manufacturer that makes pretty and expensive gadgets.

Everyone has their own personal requirements. Mine comes from the fact that I've been using a 5S with 16GB as a stop-gap since my 6S was stolen 4 months ago.

There may be a shortage - but it's purely under Apple's control. They knew the Jet Black would be in high demand (it's a rare NEW thing about the design this year) but they could have at least eased this by holding back the launch day until there were decent stock levels.

On a separate note, these protectors arrived today ahead of my phone- they come with an installation tool etc and say they are for the 7+. Do these cutouts look right? It's mostly in Chinese so I'm hoping they are right.
