Have you checked all three agencies? Noddle, Experian and ClearScore?

Hate to come across as an a55 but I use the forums at Money Saving Expert and have seen people posting they have missed payments, defaults etc and their "score" is excellent too.

Have you any form of credit whatsoever? Student credit card?

You missed out equifax. Them, Experian and CallCredit are the big three. Barclays used to just use Experian when I worked for them.

No way of checking. Your credit score is just that, a indication of your credit worthiness. Apple/barclays will use that as one of a number of markers to make a decision on lending. No way of knowing unless you apply

Actually, they can do an employment check. It depends on how full a search they use. Experian and Equifax have that as an option.

It's not worth lying or stretching the truth, because if you do get away with it now, it could impact on future applications for credit.

They don't ask for your work hours anywhere in the form which is why I don't know why it's relevant. But he definitely said there was a minimum. It's possible they find it out from your tax forms? I'm confused by this too.

I was thinking about getting one of my parents to sign up on my behalf but I really don't need this phone enough to mess with all that.

They ask employment status. That's sometimes an indication they're going to run a soft search thru the employment side.

Also, they state its subject to eligibility and you have to have employment details, so I guess that's a hint that no students. They vague tho, granted.

Apps are cancelled and deleted go into App Store have signed out and switched device on and off but yet still shows downloading progress. Looks like I'm gonna have to start again.

For me, it's a matter of patience. After downloading a fresh free app from the App Store, entering my password, apps are now gradually installing. I suspect it's cos I've not bumped up to 10.0.1.

I thought you did?
When I was toying with the idea of reserving one before (before they ran out, lol) it was asking for my card details to pay?

What you were doing was order for in store pickup, where you lay up front.

Reservations start at 6am and you either pay in full when you go to the store or go on iUP or iPP.

People are wrongly calling the order for in store pickup as reservations, which is causing the confusion.

I think the introduction of the upgrade/payment plans has made the reservation a bit confusing this year. I've reserved to pay & pickup in store on previous models, but the only links to the reservation system this year are from the upgrade program details and it's not made clear online that you can just pay in full once you get to the store.

Anything different about the display models? Do they come in the same box?
Our display models don't come in boxes. They literally get delivered in bubble wrap and a padded envelope not even with normal demos and stock which is secure but by courier or this year weirdly just Royal Mail, no signature required (I don't know how that's safe, yea they run a sort of demo iOS but it's real easy to plug them into iTunes and force restore to proper iOS and remove the demo, so they are quite popular with thieves)

The main difference between them and normal iPhones though is that they have a screensaver that you can't turn off that advertises the phone, but if you hit the power button it obviously bypasses That, they are pretty much fully functioning devices. Come preset with music and videos etc, i don't know if you can download extra apps on them, they come preloaded with all apple and a bunch of third party apps, but we have updated some of our older display models to iOS 10, but the 6 and 6 plus we couldn't. It seems to be random. Phones are amazing though, best handsets we have to play with instore. They come straight from apple and iPhones are the only display phones we get that don't come in boxes, every other brand comes in regular retail packaging with all accessories (free Samsung headphones every 2 weeks, or close enough it feels like they release a new phone every 2 weeks) but apples is just 2 handsets in an envelope. Jet black 7 looks amazing, although I imagine I'll have to spend many hours polishing that particular phone, they sent us the 7+ in rose gold though :( although it says on the invoice black so we will chase that up and hopefully get a black one instead.

PS. We don't actually get to keep accessories. They sit in the boxes for about a year and then the phones are sent back but the accessories are removed from stock and normally given to charity shops or fundraising things

Interesting - thanks!

So do you work for Apple in the U.K. then

About the iUP credit.
I'm a student, self employed and work very little hours but get a decent amount.
My partner is the breadwinner though.

I have no credit. I pay the household bills but was told they don't count. Things like car insurance, Sky TV, electricity/gas/water, phone contracts for 10 years.

I've been pre-approved for a Santander 123 credit card. 0% interest for 2 years, though a £3 charge a month. Going to shove the iPhone in it, and then probably the food shop and diesel for cashback (which may hopefully cover the charge!). I'll clear the food shop and petrol straight away, and pay off the iPhone at about the rate of the iUP charge. Then sell it and pay the rest off at next years release.

It's a longer way around, a little more iffy when it comes to selling it. But I need to get myself a credit rating, we were planning on getting a mortgage in the next year or so, and I'll have no chance unless I do something about my credit rating.

(Of course, I know for sure that I'm going to be able to pay it off. If I had any doubt about paying it I wouldn't go this way.)

Yeah, I think that's tripping up a lot of people. In the past it was just reserve and show up to pay in store, this year it was integrated with the upgrade program and as such there's no longer a standalone reservation system. When pre-orders started I was confused too as to why there wasn't a direct reservation link.

I've seen a lot more 128GB/256GB 7+ in black and jet black available in Apple Stores around the UK. Silver seems to still be scarce for the 7+.

Finally got one! The Black 128GB Plus sold out while I was making the reservation to switched to the 256GB one and got it.

Got alerted to the model I want being available yet it wouldn't work on the upgrade program and didn't even show as available for pick up...

So I managed to snag one, went to the confirmation screen and got the QR code, however no confirmation email for some reason, is this normal?

Finally managed to reserve myself a 7+ 128gb in MB. Was gonna hold out for a jet black but honestly can't see there being any available anytime soon! Time slot isn't until 8pm cause I'm working to 6 :( what a rollercoaster of a launch!
