Your order to be shipped is completely different. You are paying for the whole cost of the device up front. All Apple want to know is if you have the funds in your account to pay for the phone. The upgrade programme is a credit agreement. Apple are going to give you the phone today and you pay it off in instalments. So the credit check is an indicator of whether you are likely to be able to make the payments each month and enable Apple to recoup the cost of the phone.

Ahem, he stated he ordered his other one through the finance online. It's different to the iUP but still finance.

See here:

So following my dissapointing day. Will my failed attempt at getting the 7+ on the Upgrade program, effect my current order (Processing items Due 14th October) through the barclays finance option?

Being rejected for the IUP will not effect your online order. It will still be shipped to your house providing that you have the funds available in your account to pay for the whole cost of the phone in one go.
Thats it though my online order shipping to home address is through the barclays finance option

Oh I see. Credit checks are strange things and some checks are more stringent than others.

I remember when three first started in the U.K. I was still a student but I got accepted for a contract but many people I knew who worked failed the credit check. Some of them asked them to run it again and they were successful on the second occasion.

Barclays will have seen on your credit file for the finance option and will have dismissed the iup programme - Due to recent issues with lending too much to people who cannot afford to pay back the debt it has become more difficult and stringent, i'm not saying you've got bad credit or anything it just may be that, if you had cancelled the finance option it MAY have gone through ok.

Hmm. Carphone Warehouse wanted to offer me £50 less because it's coming up as 'unknown' instead of 'unlocked'!! I walked out with my phone instead.

I did think that, but I wasn't willing to take the risk to cancel before I had the phone in my hand

Preparing to dispatch shouldn't be a long process should it? Surely thats just picking the correct model from the 'shelf' and sending it to the correct country....that can't take more than 3 days can it?
Mine was in preparing to dispatch for 6 days but that was because it was being delivered on launch day and obviously couldn't arrive before the 16th. Now that the phones are on general sale they should all be getting dispatched quickly.

You will have likely failed the credit as you already have one outstanding with Barclays Finance.

Same thing happened to me with an Apple Watch last year. Bought one and wanted to cancel but couldn't so placed a second order for a CHEAPER model and got failed. It'll go on the fact you're taking 2 loans out (effectively) within the space of such a short amount of time. If it were 2 differenet companies you might be ok, but the fact it's the same they probably don't like it.

I am going to try and get mine on the Upgrade Program when I eventually (IF I eventually) get to reserve one.
But if I fail I'll just buy it outright. I don't expect to pass as I have a bit of credit already, smaller amounts but a few that need getting rid of. I'm also still paying off said Apple Watch, so chances are low.

Worth a shot all the same.

Have the pluses moved to 3-4 weeks now im sure it said 2-3 weeks before.

I think the pluses that came in store this week have all gone and not sure of there will be anymore this weekend. Might be a long wait now.

I bought it from apple last year, so I know it's unlocked. Is there any way round it? She said I should just send off instead.

Well I'm new to CPW I just got it as a second job a few weeks ago due to buying my first house and wanting some extra pocket money (for things like iPhone 7 Pluses haha ;) ) so it's a question I'd be asking a colleague... Sorry I can't help.

All I could suggest is trying a different store.
Alternatively, I can ask tomorrow and see what the guys say and post back?

Wow. That's pretty unprecedented. And I think a sign not to expect orders to arrive before the estimated window.

Oh I used to do bank shifts at work for extra pocket money but now I'm on maternity leave I can't do them.

I remember last year I did 2 night shifts and bought my iPhone 6S plus. It stopped the OH from moaning. He has an idea how much iPhones cost but he doesn't know how much Michael Kors bags cost :p

I wonder how many bought the 7 and decided it wasnt for them to then have placed orders for the 7+ which has pushed orders even further out.

I'll try and go to Reading tomorrow and try my luck there. If no joy, I'll post it via online, but makes me worry it'll arrive and they'll say it's unknown too.
